*Lab Assistant*

The lady led Silver Myst into the laboratory by the leash. Since they had had the coyote at the Nefaryous Lab for a while, most of the staff felt more easy around her than they did with the new canines brought in. But for precautions, the lady put on thick gloves so her hands wouldn't be bitten very easily. She then lifted the cotote onto a metal table surrounded by gleaming objects and other odd human things. Four other people were in the lab as well, and they all had surgical masks on. One man picked up a tube that was connected to a small silver-colored tank. At the end of the tube was a mask. While the lady held Silver Myst, the man brought the mask close to the coyote's face. An odorless gas came from the mask which would cause Silver to fall alseep.

She was still curious so stuck her nose into the mask sniffing it to see if their was food. She suddenly felt lightheaded and laid down and whimpered but her eyes fluttered and she fell to sleep.

*Scientists*

The kept the mask right up to her muzzle once she fell asleep so she wouldn't wake up. Now the operation began. They attatched different things to her to monitor her breathing, blood pressure, and other things. They decided to attatch metal claws to her front paws and see just how well she could fight, hunt, and survive with them.

First they shaved the fur from her paws, as they did with any operation site. They then cut through the skin to reach the bones for each of the toes, and cut a bit of the bone away. They placed an extremely sharp metal claw to each toe bone, and fit it in where they made the cut in the bones. The tip of the claws would stick out about an inch from the paws, once the operation was done.

Now they used tiny drills to hold the claws in the bone, like they did with humans to stabilize badly broken bones. To make absolute sure the claws would stay in place, they took segments of tendons in Silver Mysts' front legs and grafted them over the claws. This would also help tissue and bone grow over the part of the claw that was in her paws.

It took a long time to do all this. When they were satisfide with everything, they sewed the skin up over the paws again and tightly wrapped gauze all around the two front legs so that not even the claws could be seen. Then they put a cast over the two legs that was covered in a bitter tasting chemical. This chemical, they hoped, would keep Silver from chewing at the cast before it was time to take them off. It would be fairly akward for the coyote to walk around with these two casts, but the humans didn't realy care about that. They were kind enough at least to give her some powerful pain killers before she woke up. Although her paws would hurt alot for a week or so, they would continue to give her pain medicine hidden in her food.

They took the gas mask from her muzzle and carried her to the Mill.
