Shrike & Quentin Evenday

The trip had been a long one for the young wolves, nearly forty minutes of driving with a brief stop along the way. The duffle bag and been briefly opened, and Piper had been removed before it was zipped up once more with Scorponok still inside. The thunder bug rumbled onward then, with Shrike giving occasional commentary of mixed emotions - fear, awe, and mostly utter confusion as he tried to make sense of the houses and buildings that sprang into view as they drove into town. Occasionally he let out a short, quivering howl and attempt to break free of the now knotted scarf that kept him bound up.

Eventually, their ride came to an end as the thunder bug slowed and turned down a driveway. To Shrike's amazement, one entire side of the human's den rose upward and just disappeared into the roof, revealing a cozy, open space for the bug to roll into. He did his best to narrate these things to Scorp, while Quentin was busy parking his truck in the garage, and lowering the door back down. This, too, was explained in harrowing fashion by Shrike, who panicked as darkness briefly descended on them.

The truck was shut off, and Quentin grabbed by the bag and Shrike, carrying the pair inside. They were taken into a laundry room with a slick tile floor and set down. Quentin opened the duffle bag and retrieved Scorp, lifting the youngster and pulling the garment away from the pup so that his limbs were free. He then set the pup down, and reached for Shrike, to free the elder adolescent from his constraints.

Scorponock

When piper was pulled out he grew even more fearful. Where where his siblings? why was he left in this dark secluded area? He whined and howled in fear struggling now despite everything. He tried to chew the shirt holding him in. He heard Shrike but was too scared to listen. He kept struggling trying to get free of his bindings to try and get out of this other thing that his sibling had just been pulled from.

When he was lifted out and soon released from his binding. HE scuttled away but was confused where was Piper. He growled but found himself backing away in fear. It was warmer in here but still.

Quentin & Shrike

Shrike scrambled back with his cousin, not actively growling at the man, but certainly leery of the strange creature. He glanced briefly about, finding himself in an oddly shaped den, with walls that were perfectly straight and met at precise, even angles that one rarely found in nature. There were two large... stones, maybe? As white as snow and glossy as ice, Shrike didn't know what to make of the washer and dryer, or the large cabinet that towered beside them. A nearby hamper fit neatly into one corner, and a small, earthly-toned rug was situated in front of the dryer. As his eyes roved upwards, Shrike found himself staring at what he could only fathom was a second sun, shining from the ceiling and filling the room with light.

The pup jumped and skittered aside when Quentin reached for him, giving a yelp as if he'd been stung. Quentin sighed and withdrew his hand. He watched the youngsters for a moment more before getting up and walking out of the room, closing the door behind him.

Shrike perked his ears, hearing the man's footsteps as he moved through the house. His heart racing as fast as his startled mind, the adolescent looked to Scorponok, then whispered as if afraid the human would hear him "...is this a human den?!"

Scorponock

He sniffed around the room only once the man seem to leave his tail tucked under him.uh huh, what you think he gonna do with us?He said.

Quentin & Shrike

A few shivers still rocked his young body, but the air here was relatively calm and comfortably mild. And to Shrike's great surprise, he found one area in particular where hot air seemed to be billowing from. The adolescent had stumbled across a floor vent, and with the heat currently kicked on, it sent a wave of heated air billowing through his still-wet coat. "I dunno, but come check this out Scorp!" For the moment at least, some of his fear in his young mind had taken a backseat to this simple relief as he stood over the metal grate, his silvery coat dancing and waving about.

Shrike's momentary reprieve ended moments later when the door creaked open and Quentin returned. Immediately his tail tucked and he pressed himself against the wall. But the man didn't reach for him or Scorponok. Instead, he set down a large bowl filled with water, and began to spread several newspapers across the floor. Shrike flattened his ears at the noise, but his nose couldn't help but twitch when Quentin set a second large bowl down, filled with a most delicious scent. He'd never encountered hot dogs and sliced ham, but the aroma made his mouth water.

Scorponock

Scorponock had begun in his direction till he heard the door and then jumped around puffing up and growling little teeth beared. However he watched the man and the smell of the second bowl caused his stomach to growl. He slowly edged in the direction and sniffed at it. They had only just begun eatting meat a few weeks ago. He grabbed a hotdog and chewed on it.

Quentin & Shrike

Now that he was warmer and more clear of thought, Shrike was able to really study this man as he returned to the room with the bowls and paper. And where his cousin's immediate reaction was to growl, Shrike was still overcome with curiosity, albeit rather tempered by the confusion and fear of the situation they were in, and the inexplicable loss of Piper. He examined the man's face, looking for any sign of anger, submission, friendliness... anything that would help him understand the two-legger. Alas, Quentin didn't even have much for ears, let alone a tail, making it rather difficult for the pup to read him.

As for Quentin's part, he frowned slightly at Scorponok's growling but never growled back at the youngster. His demeanor was calm, if not a little brooding. The man stood again, and after uttered a few more strange sounds, left the room and closed the door behind him.

Shrike slowly minced forward and sniffed at the door, then looked to the handle that Quentin had used. The smell of fresh meat eventually had him padding back to the bowl to indulge in some human food along side Scorp. "He doesn't really look angry, I don't think. Did you see how flat his teeth were? And he has no tail! I watched when he turned around - there was nothing there!"

Scorponock

He chewed his food as he watched the human warily. But where is piper? What did he do with Piper? He said now that he was full he began to pad aroun the room sniffing at thing, pawing at things and chewing at it.

Quentin & Shrike

Shrike's tail wagged furiously when he realized just how delicious this food was, and was soon scarfing down mouthfuls in between his words. "I dunno about Piper... the thunder bug stopped, and the human took him out and walked to a big den, kinda like this one... but it was more out in the woods, with no other human dens around it." He paused in his eating, bits of hotdog stuck to his chin while he thought back to that moment when his cousin was removed from the group.. "It smelled like another wolf lived there, but it smelled a lot like humans too."

Scorponock

He finished the food as he looked around the place.I want mom and dadhe said curling up on the floor.

Shrike & Quentin

With his belly now full, Shrike spent a few moments exploring the room again, sniffing at every corner, and trying his teeth against various objects and surfaces. Worried as he was, curiosity was a very high driver in the youngster's mind, and he gave into that even as he went on speaking of their family, "My mom and dad will find us, and Piper too. They both are pretty smart about humans." Little did Shrike know that their scent trail had been all but obliterated by the thick sleet, and further broken after they'd been loaded into the truck. In his naive, young mind though, his parents would save the day as they always had whenever the pups adventurous had mishaps.

After a few more minutes of exploring, the events of the day began to catch up with the adolescent. He found himself yawning, and eventually curling up beside Scorponok. Shortly after that, he was asleep.
