Autumn Sun, Faidanen, & Others
Autumn was stretched out on her side, laying a few dozen yards from the den. Summer Storm sat nearby, licking a paw and then running it over his face as he cleaned up from a recent meal. At three months old, his cub spots were faded, but a few dull stripes remained on his dark auburn face, and a series of darker bands encompassed his tail.
Faidanen was laying in front of the mostly stripped ribcage of the old stag her mother had taken down, chewing half-heartedly on one of the bones. Fairali was next to her, quietly snoring away the evening with a belly full of food. The cubs were smaller than their brother, and not destined to be nearly as large as their mother, but both were built soundly and growing strong.
Spotlight
The liger was in a sour mood when he came stalking across the grasslands, jaw hanging open and eyes banefully narrowed. A torn lip and a few minor punctures revealed that he'd gotten into a minor tussle, but the blood had since dried during his trek from the deep woodlands to the prairie. His anger hadn't abated though.
Growling deeply, the massive beast stalked directly towards the stripped carcass, baring a fang at Faidanen to warn her away before he plopped down to help himself to what meager remains were on the ribcage.
Autumn Sun & Others
The young ligeress scrambled away with a hiss of annoyance at the far larger cat. "What's your big deal?"
Fairali raised a curious brow as her sister retreated, "Looks like you got into a scrap?"
Summer Storm remained silent. His gaze had roved towards the brief discord, and wondered like Fairali what kind of trouble his pridemate had gotten into.
"Spotlight..." A deeper rumble echoed from the depths of Autumn's chest as she nearly threatened to rise and pounce on the male for being harsh with her child. Her tail became animated behind her, a visual warning that she'd throw some claws if he continued this behavior.
Spotlight & Others
With a dull crack, Spotlight broke one of the ribs off and nestled it between both large paws to gnaw on. He heeded Autumn's warning with a small huff and a single flick of his heavy tail, and answered the younger cats after a moment of deliberation, "Bad hunt." His striped tail slapped the ground again as he chewed the end of the bone, mulling over the scrap between the two wolves he should have easily beaten. "I almost had one, until a second showed up and distracted me - they both ran like weasels, hiding in holes I couldn't fit in."
"You should have taken Rufflan." Tuini's advice was given as he sauntered over to the group and settled next to Spotlight. "He could have flushed them out for you. Or bring one of the younglings, they're old enough to be getting their claws wet."
