Dust Devil

The wild copper like stallion cantered wildly past the B&B house, smelling horses, and humans, his favorite. He bucked and reared, whinning and snorting at the barn door, it was closed. The darkness that surrounded him was broken by his noise. He turned, as if to go, but merely smashed his hooves into the door, he could smell mares. He did this till there was a hole through which he could step through.

He entered the barn, with no caution. He didn't care if there were 5 humans in here, they'd each get something speacail. He saw the rows of stalls, the hay, grain, tack, and buckets. He went pass all of the stalls, glancing inside each one. He reared, giving a screaming whinny.
Come out Doms, you filthy human lovers.
The whole B&B would have been awaken by it.

Shady Star

The ebony gelding snorted and reared.
"You're the one who's filthy. Our humans treat us kindly and WE don't die as you do!"
He screamed at the stallion. Swiftly the gelding jumped the stall door and met eyes with the stallion. "What do you want O wild one?'
He asked sarcastically. Rearing again, he whinnied. Looking back towards the mares. His whinny ment keep away, this one is trouble.
"If you want a fight, you better turn your little body away and go home, for all you will get is wounds and broken pride!" He challenged.

Dust devil

Who are you calling little gelding?
The big copper stallion snorted. He laughed inside, in human measure he was 17.1hh, fairly big. He laughed out loud at the idea of a fight with this little human lover.
Humans only know how to torture and hurt equines, and canines. They are selfish beasts, who see us as mere beasts of burden, and painless creatures to experiment on. They and those that serve are cowards who feel they must weaken and torture so they can feel strong and smart. Now little gelding, move aside and let me find what I want. He had his ears pinned to his poll, he eyes gleamed with hatred, and anger, his lips were peeled back as he snapped at the gelding. Nostrils flared as he inhaled and exhaled

Sweetie

She gasped as she heard what he said about humans. Is..it...true?" She said aloud to anybody. She remained calm. Even though her scent poured out of her. She was in heat.

Shady Star

He snorted and shook his head. "No, of course not." He promised. Rearing, Shade looked over at the stallion. He neighed fiercely and charged at the stallion. "Never say that about my girl. She treats us finely and gives us food you can't even get. She makes us shine and spends hours caring for us. You're the FILTH! I was gelded only because we are part of a 'Bed & Breakfast' not a breeding program. I was rescued by my owner from stallion fighting, so I do know how to fight tiny colt." He said. Lashing his tail he tried to bite Dust Devil on the hindquarters.

Dust devil

He screamed with anger. Yes, yes it is. I was born in lands very far away from her, in place with no straw. My mother couldn't move to lick me clean, a human came, cleaned me, and stuck needles in us both. The first year that I was alive was like torture, when they took me away my mother gathered all her strength to whinny goodbye, and they beat her, I fear to death.
He side stepped a little to avoid the stocky geldings bit, his teeth just touching his own rump. He turned, snapping and lunging, trying to find a hold on it's neck or shoulder, all the while his senses focused on the mare.

Sweetie

She gasped. Oh my, that is horrible? Is our human like that? She asked, not losing her temper at all. She wanted to know him. He looked brave and protective. She raised her tail and let her scent flow out.

Shady Star

Charlotte was a kind girl. "Bad humans are all the same, but ours cares for us, and will put her life in danger for ours." He screamed. "You may have had a horrible history, but don't come and shattter ours!" He neighed.

Dust Devil

He snorted, breathing in her thick scent, he reared, his neck arched, he trotted around, whinning and screaming, were are the damn humanshe thought. Suddenly he began to canter, his hooves clattering against the hard floor. He reared before turning, and galloping straight at her stable. He had never known a stable before, and did not care for confines. He flew beautifully over the stall door, his musles rippling under his copper coat. His ears went forwards to her.
All humans turn at times, it's their nature, and one turn will be harder then the rest, and they will get a sense of power and beat you hard. Such a beautiful lady should not be a beast of burden for a soul slave driver. He kicked out at the door, the wood began to creak and strain under his gaint force. I give you a choice fair lady, come away with me, under the moon light, or stay here, imprisoned, until a human turns on your back and beats the beauty away. The wood began to crack, and made loud squeals and groans as it began to snap, like a falling tree.

All this time he closly watched the small stock gelding, ready to turn around and defend himself from the smaller beast.

Sweetie

Sweetie gasped. She backed up to let the stall door fall. She looked up at him, then back at Shady. She didn't know what to do. I don't want them to hurt me.. She said meekly.

Dust Devil

He nickered softly to her. I won't let any one hurt you, ever again he he streched his muzzle to her.

Sweetie

She stretched her muzzle to him and nickered softly.

Shady Star* Charlotte

He snorted in disgust. "No, my humans loves horses. I've heard her say she hated ones who beat their horses. She rescued me from abuse, and stallion fighting. Why do you come here? What is the point of coming here besides stealing mares?" He asked. "Nobody shall hurt us. In your world, many things such as cougars, wolves, disease can kill you. Here we are cared for, protected and loved. Nothing can ever change that." He whinnied loudly.

Charlotte came running toward the barn. She opened the door and stepped in. Her Shade was outside his stall, a wild stallion was there, and her sweet mare's stall had been broken down. She held out a carrot for Sweetie. "Here girl, You might not want to be with those boys, they may fight. I don't want you to be injured. I know my Shade can fight well, or I would call him back too." She softly said to Sweetie. Sweetie was truly a sweetie, now, but if she went to the wild, she would fear Charlotte.

Sweetie

She didn't know what to do. She was overwhelmed by what she could do. She took the baby carrot eagerly, but her actions showed that she didn't trust Charlotte all the way. She had a feeling that she was kind, but what he had said made her aware of the cruelness of humans.

Shady Star* Charlotte

Shady Star snorted. He had wished that stallion had never came to the barn. He had flooded Sweetie with things about humans that Charlotte would never do.

Charlotte held out her hand. If Sweetie did go with Dust Devil, then there was really nothing that she could do. A tear came from her eyes. "My dear Sweetie, do you really wish to go?" She asked quietly, she put her face in her hands a sobbed.

Dust Devil

The 17hand wild stallion saw the human, and Sweetie touching her.
Remember horses are the ones that end up hurt. Not them. They do the hurting.
He nickered and nuzzled her. It won't be so bad, I'll get a land, with plenty of food, and other mares. You'll be the lead mare. He nickered again, and stepped away.

Sweetie

She was confused. A tear slid down her face as she looked up at them. What could she do? She was so confused.

Shady Star * Charlotte

He stepped back, for now Sweetie must make her own descision. "Charlotte is kind to us. I know, wild stallion, that you have had a experience with humans that was as terrible as the end of the land itself. I have had this too, but not form my dear Charlotte. Nothing can change her or persuade her to do anything to us that is terrible. I will stand by her side until my life ends. You Sweetie, must make your own descision. I can not argue anymore, for it gets us nowhere." He said. A tear slid down his cheek. Who said geldings could never love? He looked down, and for a second at Dust Devil with an eye of hatred. "Why must you break our peace? To take a mare who trusted Charlotte. Why must you hurt us with what you have been hurt with? Can't you understand that some humans love us? I take that you'll never understand, for you are wild. Not like me. Now, I know that I am the only one who trusts my girl. You will see Sweetie. Come back someday, if you go. See if you had made the right choice." Shade whinnied. Now, it was up to Sweetie.

Charlotte looked up. She clucked to Sweetie. "I love you Sweetie, at least ssay goodbye if you go wild. I must stroke you once more..." She whispered through her black hair, getting another carrot, she held it out. Slowly Charlotte stood up.

Dust Devil & Raindance

His ears pinned back as she stood, he snorted, warning her away from him, he stepped beside sweetie, and nickered to her, gently, nugging her shoulder softly. Come sweet young one, shall we leave? You can have any land you wish, I show you it all, and if you miss this place then I will allow you to return. I will take you to a place with no fences, where you can go and do as you please. He snorted, the muscles along his back and neck began to tense up as the girl stood there, he was cornered in a stall. He shifted nervously, and snorted again, every second he bacme more agitated at her blocking the entrance.

The paint mare ventured into the barn, the smell of humans strong, though wild she craved humans. She had lived her early life with them, no be abandoned. She nickered, and trotting up to the crying girl, a bit afriad, but daring enough to take the carrot from her. She nuzzled her, why was she sad?

Charlotte

The girl looked up. "Hello girl," She stammered, her face wet with tears. She reached out for another carrot. "Tell you what, girl, if you can tell Sweetie that I love her and wish to stroke her one last time, I'll give you this carrot." She whispered.

Raindancer

She snorted, nuzzling the girl, breathing warm breath onto her wet face, she licked at the salty tears. This girl would like to say good bye to one of you.she nickered. She directed it at no-one in general, just at them. She pressed her big body up against the girl, worried she would get cold, treating her like a small foal. Her 16 hand body towering over her protectively. She reached for the carrot.

Charlotte

"Please Sweetie, stay." She pleaded, pulling out another carrot for Sweetie and patting Raindancer with her free hand.

Raindancer-Dust Devil

The paint mare snorted, rubbing against charlotte, waiting for the other paints reply.

THE copper stallion snorted, rearing a bit, he felt cornered by this human. Come with me, to my new lands, where no one will be able to get you, ever again. You will have all you want, all you need, friends, even a family if you want one.

Shady Star*Charlotte

Charlotte put her head in her hands again, her black hair smothering her face. She looked up. "Come here Sweetie, please." She pleaded softly.

Shady Star snorted. "She has that here too." He argued, but he knew it was her choice. He lowered his dial, and waited.

Sweetie

Sweetie thought. I.. I'm sorry. She said to the stallion. I can't just leave. But I will join you if anything happens. She said and stepped close to Charlotte and nuzzled her.

Charlotte

She looked up, wiping the tears from her face. Charlotte reached out her hand to stroke Sweetie on the head. Starting from her forehead, softly sliding down to her nose.

Dust Devil

Panic ran through him, now there was no way for him to get out. Flash backs brought it all back, they cornered him. He reared, orbs rolled, he screamed, diving forwards, all 17 hands of him, all 1500lbs. His hooves reached out, his ivories followed, he screamed louder, kicking at biting at them all, trying to tear flesh off bone. He turned to sweetie, biting her hard and firm on her rump. Now I'm giving you no choice. Get to Macobe Downs, NOW wench, He lashed out again, trying to bite her again, round her rump, and shoulders, Move WENCH, MOVE The panic was rising in him, he couldn't take it. Sweat rolled down him, he kept kicking out, again and again, pushing against her, pushing her away from them.

Shady Star

He reared. "She makes the choice, colt." He screamed, standing infront of Sweetie. "I knew you were here to steal," Shade murmered. He lifted his lip and arched his neck. "Go to Charlotte, Sweetie, she'll protect you," He whispered in her ear.

Dust Devil

He turned away from the mare, she had just be easiest to push. Now The girl stood with no protection, he was well and truly cornered. Any one could see there was no aggression in his eyes, but fear, they were full of it. His whole body was. Now he made a choice. he had no escape, and now a small human was all the prevented his get away. He dashed at her, and directly above her reared, aimming to hit her back or chest with those flailing hooves. He didn't want to kill her, just hurt her enough to get her out his way. Sweat poured down his sides.

Shady Star*Charlotte

Shady Star made a dash after Dust Devil. Sweat covered his pelt. He reached Charlotte first, rearing up. The daggers hit his shoulder with a mighty blow, causing him to lower. She sidestepped out of the way, and his knees buckled.

Charlotte opened the barn door slowly, Shade had given her time. She stepped aside, letting Dust Devil be free.As soon as she had done this, Charlotte rushed toward Shady Star. She put her head on his neck, weeping.

Dust devil & raindance

He reared before he left, whinnying to Sweetie. I am sorry m'lady, fear has the better of me right now. He cantered free, but he would return.

The mare snorted, lipping the nape of charlotte's neck, ignoring the gelding she didn't know.

Sweetie

Her eyes grew wide and she sidestepped to the back of her stall. It had all happened so quickly. She nickered slowly and nodded her head.

Shady Star*Charlotte

Slowly, Shady Star lifted his head, nickering to Charlotte. His shoulder brought great pain, but he ingnored it. Charlotte was safe now. That was all that mattered to him now.

Charlotte forced a smile on her face as Shade nickered to her. She stroked him softly. Looking up, she patted Raindance and looked toward Sweeties. Reaching into her poket - that seemed to supply a neverending amount of carrots - she pulled out a carrot. "Here girl, don't be afraid," She soothed.

Sweetie

She grinned a horsie grinned and swiped the carrot. She nuzzled her, looking for more.

Raindance

She snorted, and began to slowly walk out the barn, it seemed this human had no place for her.

Charlotte

Charlotte turned around. She smiled, and held out a carrot for Raindance.
"Come here girl,"
She called.

*Vets* * Shady Star*Charlotte

The vet slowly dorve up. She was careful not to scare Raindance and ran to Shady Star. Kneeling down, she checked his heartbeat. It was slow.

Shade breathed heavily. He felt sharp pains in his shoulder.

The vet called her assistant and two other people to help move Shade into Charlotte's horse trailer. Once Shade was in there, the vets drove off to their building. They had left Charlotte their phone number so that she could call them. Charlotte stroked the two mares softly. Tears rolled down her cheeks.

Raindance

The paint mare nuzzled the human girl, confused by her saddness. She decided there maybe a way to cheer her up. Though a wild, but human loving horse she went on her knees before the girl. She was offering her a tail to mount, she snorted, swinging her head to her back. It was almost magical, this mare was letting a predator upon her back.

Charlotte

Charlotte smiled. Clucking so Sweetie would come with her, Charlotte mounted Raindance. She patted them both softly. It was truly amazing. Never before had she climbed upon a wild horse. She clucked a little and lightly sqeezed Raindance.

Sweetie

Sweetie came out and nickered to them, her ears pricked forward. She came to the side of Raindance, but not too close.

Charlotte

Charlotte reached out and patted Sweetie, and then Raindance. She was no longer crying. She fished around in her poket. Pulling out some sugar cubes she reached out toward Sweetie. With her other hand, she reached out ,with a couple sugar cubes, to Raindance.

Sweetie

She gobbled them up and whinnied.

Raindance

She snuffled them up, flexing her back under this new weight their heavy then they look she thought, but had no troble holding her. She snorted, then trotted off a little, trying to make the human hold on.

Charlotte

She rode lightly, knowing how it must be such a change for Raindance. She held on easily, patting her as she went. Charlotte smiled a Sweetie.

Raindance

She tossed her head, gave a small whinny, and pushed into a full speed gallop, away from this place, to somewhere special, somewhere charlotte might not even no existed.

Charlotte

Charlotte clucked to Sweetie. She clutched Raindance's mane as it whipped her face. she was smiling though.

Raindance

The mare tossed her head, her legs streching faster, and faster, she strode over a log, nostrils flaring, she whinnied to sweetie.

Sweetie

She bolted and whinnied back. She ran and ran beside them. She threw her back legs into the air, loving the run.

Charlotte

Charlotte laughed and smiled as they flew over the log. It was hard to see, but the sky was getting lighter. The sun was rising. She patted Raindance and reached out her hand to pat Sweetie.

Sweetie

She ran forward and let her fingers slide on her winter coat. She tossed her head.

Charlotte

All bad thoughts had been pushed to the back of her mind. Charlotte smiled happily and patted them both finding her balance easily.

Sweetie

Sweeite tossed her head and reared, pawing the air with her legs.
