Dalia

The day was surprisingly warm. A soft cool breeze blew in from the north, giving the air a slight afternoon chill. The light rumble of a truck's engine gradually filled that air as it bumped and bounced along the road headed for the corral. It was carefully backed into one of the medium sized pens. Toward the back of this pen was a small wooden shelter. A placard was attached to one of the rails that read Dalia, the name of the new resident, if only a semi permanent one. Despite having already been sold once from her original home, she was again for sale. Another notice read that those interested were to inquire at the office.

Two men jumped out, walked back to the trailer that was hitched on the truck, and opened the doors. Dalia, cow in question, blinked lazily from inside her confines. She wore a thin halter made from twine, which one of the humans grabbed to bring her out. She made a slight hop to the ground and began looking around as the two packed up to leave. Soon she found herself all alone, turning around to watch as the truck which brought her here disappeared from view. Now where am I? she thought to herself, breathing in the new scents. She flicked her tail to and fro, a couple pieces of straw falling to the ground.

Sighing, she searched the other pens. There didn't seem to be any other creatures around her. However, she was feeling quite content to finally be on solid ground, so she lowered her head to the blades of grass and began eating. They weren't too shabby, although a little dry at the moment for her tastes.
