Ethan & Others
The PDP had chosen the location for its size and accessibility, not to mention the various stalls and enclosures that would help to organize and store the live animals they brought back from their expedition today. There had been relatively few attacks lately from wild animals, or serious loss from predation against livestock, but sightings and signs of the predators were on the increase again. Inevitably, more clashes between the humans and wildlife were set to take place, and the PDP was determined to attack first and stop that from happening.
The gathering crowd wasn't large yet, consisting of about twenty or so people and their hunting animals, mostly members of the PDP and ATHA, but Ethan wasn't at all discouraged. He'd spent last week posting bulletins around two and casually spreading the word, and was hopeful that more would soon show up.
Among the crowd of humans, there were the hunting dogs, and Ethan's trusted steed, Harthrou. The marwari mix stood idly near his master, doing his best to ignore the gaggle of adolesent hounds that were chattering excitedly near him. "Do you think we'll catch anything?" A copper-colored hound asked, waving his lanky tail in anticipation. "Of course we will! Maybe we'll catch one of those scummy human-eaters!" Another copper-colored yearling responded, just as anxious as her brother was about the upcoming hunt.
"Don't get too ahead of yourselves." Showing far more calm than her offspring, Daisy murmured to the group in warning. "Remember your training, and listen to what Ethan tells you. You remember your commands, don't you?" The fawn and cream hound raised a questioning eye at the youngsters, who all nodded obediently back at her, "This is going to be the real deal. You can have fun, but don't let that get in the way of your common sense."
Chase
Chase pulled up, she could already feel her blood boiling. She couldn't believe they were doing this. What gave them the right to prance out into the woods and hunt and capture these animals. They had rights, even if they couldn't speak. She turned her car off hopping out, her dirty blonde hair resting over her shoulders. She looked around,Who's in charge? she asked herself as her green eyes scanned over the area before marching right over to Ethan,
"Who do you think you are?"
She snapped madly. She felt no patience with this disgusting human. Us humans always believe we're better or above, she hated to admitt she was one but she was. She walked on two legs, she spoke their ignorant lanuage. Her hands rested on her hip to keep them from wrapping themselves around the mans neck. She took a step back from him,
"Is this fun for you, this so called Sport"
Her voice rang out as she eyed him before looking to the group of hunting dogs.
Ethan & Others
The tall man was busy chatting with another guy when Chase stormed in and singled him out. Her anger didn't surprise him too much - he'd certainly faced a few people who didn't approve of his method of wildlife control. In fact, the man smiled back to her in a slightly leering way, as if mocking the girl's fury, "Ethan Rom, head of the Predator Decimation Program. And who might you be, young lady?" It might have been a rhetorical question, but he responded smoothly to it. The man standing next to him chuckled in amusement, but let Ethan go on without putting his two cents in. "Maybe it is fun, but it's also about earning money, and keeping the people of this town safe."
"She smells angry, mama." Saidy, the little copper-colored yearling, whispered to her mother. Harthrou spoke up before Daisy could answer her daughter, however. "This is human business. We don't get involved." The black stallion showed little interest in either the girl or the dogs, preferring to ignore them all and keep himself from getting too worked up with annoyance; he was a very high-strung individual, to say the least.
Adrian Volkov; Ellis Parker
The sound of a motor running could be heard from the Corral. It sounded like a decked-out truck, and whoever was driving it was driving it fast and wild. The black truck stopped abruptly with a screech and the person on the passenger side jumped out. "You call that driving? You're going to kill the horses!" Adrian protested, his thick Russian accent almost too hard for the driver to understand.
The driver soon jumped out too. It was Ellis, a local mechanic and a friend to Adrian. "This ain't an ice cream truck, Volkov." The southerner replied with a grin. After having helped Adrian so many times, Ellis was allowed to tag along for a hunting trip.
Adrian went out behind the trailer and pulled out two horses: Red October and Zola. Though a surprising creature also exited the trailer - Kira, and Amur leopard. Her sleek, spotted coat shone in the cold sunlight. Next came Anya, Zhenya and Vanya, three of the Volkovs' hunting dogs.
"Hey man." Adrian said blankly to Ethan. Ellis retrieved the weapons from the truck. Ellis would carry a shotgun, Adrian would have an M4, though both would also carry handguns and machetes. Adrian gladly took his weapons and faced Ethan again. "I've brought a friend." Adrian, as usual, was not extremely talkative. The tension between Chase and the hunting party caught his attention. "Oh, hell yeah." He retorted with a smirk. "It's fun and it saves lives." Also, as usual, he was quite sarcastic.
Ellis, having geared up, led the horses to where Adrian stood. He wore the usual - a white and blue t-shirt, a blue mechanic's jumpsuit gathered around at the waist, a cap, and heavy construction boots. After getting off the job, he rarely went home to change before he finished the rest of the day.
A notable thing about Ellis is that he loved horses. He never met the gaze of anybody around here, only stopping for one moment to glance at them before turning back to the horses and patting stroking Zola's face, which the Orlov trotter mare did not protest to.
Red October, a fiery-red Arabian stallion, snorted in displeasure. "What's holding us up?" The young stallion asked. "What does the woman want from us?"
Kira sat down next to Adrian and looked down at Saidy, but then Harthrou spoke and the leopard answered him. "Or we could rip her throat out right here." She said with an eerie sense of calm.
The dogs, all Siberian Laikas, stood by the horses, waiting to go.
Chase
She rolled her eyes as he spoke. His cool demeanor was doing nothing but making her more angry. She put a small hand up to stop him then rolled her eyes again,
"Let me stop you Ethan. For one, I am Chase and please do not call me young lady. For some reason it's somewhat degrading. And secondly, you say your keeping the town safe? How do you figure that the animals you shoot down are the ones causing the problems? As you may or may not know, I don't like you. I really really don't like you. Matter-fact I don't like anything about you"
She said with her arms folded across her chest. She realized the last bit of what she said must of made her seem like a toddler. She put a hand up to stop him in cause he tried to speak again,
"I know I just sounded like I came from pre-school but you and your posse, or whatever are being extremely unfair. I mean we all breath the same air and we all bleed."
Chase said dropping her hands back to her hips yet again. God, she had issues expressing how she felt.
Ethan & Others
The faint grin didn't stay on his face long, not because he was angered by Chase's words, but because he was generally not a snarky sort of fellow in most cases. What little humor he'd first gotten from Chase's accusations didn't last long, and his face quickly sank into a an inexplicably hard to read expression. It was one of his trademark quirks - the ability to go from cheerful, pleasant, snarky... any given mood, and at the drop of a hat suddenly lose any and all trace of emotion and go eerily neutral. "Well, Chase, unless you can convince all these people here to put down their weapons and head home, you're barking up the wrong tree." Adrian was privileged to a quick glance and nod to acknowledge his presence, and then his cold brown eyes were back on Chase. "Tell me, did Nadeem set you up to this, or did you come on your own accord?"
Harthrouh blew out a heavy breath and muttered back to Red Octber, "It's hard to tell with humans. She's a stranger here, is all I know. My master tends to cause anxiety in others, perhaps he aggravated her somehow." He wasn't willing to speak to the dogs or the feline any more, but he could spare an explanation for the other stallion.
Saidy gasped at Kira's suggestion, her eyes going wide with wonder. "But mom said we're not allowed to attack humans, unless Ethan gives us the command."
Chase
She could honestly say she felt like crying. These people were stuck in their ways and their was nothing she could do about it. But it was just so hard for her to accept that. She'd always given second, third chances. Hell she gave too many chances too count. Though the situation hurt, she felt defeated. What was she suppose to do, simply snatch all their guns away. Run off and hide them and pretend as though nothing happened? If things were so easy. She took a step back from the man, her hands shaking as she looked around before her eyes landed back on him, her eyes the same trusting and soft green they've always been,
" I don't need anyone to put me up to anything. I am an individual, I can think for myself"
Chase snapped maddly. She shook her head and took yet another step away from him. Maybe she could go ahead of them, possibly take her own gun and fire warning shots. What was the most they could do to her? Her 5'1 frame moved towards the man that had arrived moments before as she extended a hand towards him,
I'm Chase, and from what I heard your Adrian. Do you mind if I use your gun? Strange request I know but I guess I left mine back at my trailer-park"
She said rolling her eyes. Not that she had anything against trailer parks but she preferred the cozy and safe feeling of being nestled in an apartment surrounded by others. And people in trailers always seemed to have guns of course.
Adrian
Adrian normally didn't start conflict, but if it had begun, he would be glad to take part on his side. The man looked at Chase with the expression that said he would not hesitate to put a gun to her head right now. What she said both surprised and angered him. "Listen, girl..." He began, "I never told you my name and this is the first time we met, so that means you have been stalking me, yeah?" His voice was cold and vicious. "And I find it suspicious that you want my gun. You say you're against hunting animals, but apparently, you seem to have no problem with killing humans." Adrian then turned away from Chase, obviously wanted to ignore her, and then spoke to Ethan. "Let's just go. Leave the bitch and start hunting."
Ellis tended to avoid an argument, preferring to stay on the sidelines. He didn't join in on the quarrel, instead leading the horses toward where Harthrou stood. "You've got a nice horse, man." He said to Ethan.
Red October kept his big, brown eyes on Chase. The racehorse sensed the tension, and, being a relatively laid-back animal, wished it would end soon. "Adrian looks mad too. But it looks like he's on your master's side." His voice was a bit tense-sounding.
Zola followed Ellis to Harthrou. She had never met the stallion until now, but this didn't seem like the best time for introductions. For now, she said nothing.
Kira grinned darkly at Saidy's words. "We could bend the rules a bit." The leopard chuckled. "I'm sure nobody will mind."
Chase
She felt her mouth drop. Did he just call her a bitch? She took a step towards him thinking a mile a minute. She wasn't sure of anything at this point but she knew she couldn't allow him to call her such a name and act as though he would simply walk away with his redneck hunting party. Killing humans, nah she wouldn't kill a human. But she wouldn't stop someone from killing a piece of shit human. Which these lovely men seemed to fall under.
"I think humans are able to look after themselves. Having all these fancy guns and all..."
she said eyeing him. Before she realized what she was doing she brung her small hand to his face slapping him hard. She was just not in a good mood today and how dare he call her a bitch for speaking her mind,
" And don't you ever call me out of my name again"
She spoke taking a step back. Chase wasn't really the physical type, but her nerves seemed frayed. She put her hand up covering her face, she regretted the hit.
" I'm really sorry...."
Chase spoke with a pause. She uncovered her face taking in a breath,
"You need to learn a thing called manners. My names Chase...not Bitch"
She added backing up a bit from him.
Derek Carter
Derek had been walking around, minding his own business. His hands were stuck in the side pockets of his baggy jeans, letting his long t-shirt wave in the slight breeze. It was a peaceful day at the corral, no big events going on. Nothing real busy. Just the way he liked it. He surveyed the area, letting the peace and quiet really sink in.
It was really different here compared to his city life upbringing. Something new. Something to get used to. He still wasn't used to it. Letting a soft sigh escape his breath, he caught a glance across the area, seeing a group of animals and people. He could feel the tension more than anything. What was going on? He was too curious to pass this one up.
Narrowing his vivid green eyes, he made his way across the grounds toward the group. not looking up at anyone as he neared. He usually wasn't a confrontational guy. Sure, he'd gotten into plenty of fights in his lifetime. Mostly as a rebellious pot head teenager. But those days were behind him now. He had given that life up. Too much drama. Too much pain.
Setting his glance on the main spectacle now, he took in the girl first. He was a single male after all, and it was just natural. Plus she was a real eye catcher. With long blond hair you just want to run your fingers through and those blinding bright eyes that you could stare into for hours without knowing time was even passing. Damn, she was hot.
Then he looked at the guy. Since he wasn't gay, the guy was nothing out of the ordinary. But he seemed to be the one in charge, or at least the one taking that position for now. Glancing over the group now, Derek stopped a few feet from the duo who were talking, not wanting to just get all up in their business. He hadn't even heard what they were talking about yet.
There were many different animals here. You name it, it's here. Horses, dogs, even a leopard or two. What a circus. Derek noticed nothing out of the ordinary with them either, since he was a city boy and far too domestic to notice anything like beauty in horses. They were still in the category of smelly animals that can kick to him. Maybe the leopards were out of the ordinary, if merely for the fact that they seemed to be like pets to these men, something Derek had never heard of.
Looking over at the other men with the first, Derek noticed their faces seemed to be trying to hold back tension too. So it wasn't just a hunch then. That's when Derek heard a "pop" sound. Damn. Turning his head swiftly, he looked over to the man and woman again and noted her backing away slowly saying sorry. She had smacked him. Maybe they're fighting, like a couple fight or something. Derek didn't know. But he knew one thing, he was not for men hitting women. If the guy did something to her, he'd have to jump in, plain and simple. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.
He also heard her last words and a small frown creased his thin lips. No woman deserved the title of "bitch." His mother had at least tried to teach him manners on that. He took his hands out of his pockets, just in case. Not moving from his spot, he leaned against a tree, crossing his arms in a relaxed posture, like he was just a curious spectator admiring the group's animals. Nothing he could get in trouble for...yet.
Ethan & Others
Among the group of men in the building, one had turned his attention to Derek shortly after he entered the building. A slightly taller man with a darker complexion and a tidy buzz cut, leaned to the side to whisper to the fellow standing next to him. The other guy turned his eyes fleetingly to Derek, sizing him up quietly with two dark brown eyes. It was impossible to tell what they were saying from their place on the other side of the massive room, but it was clear that their attention was on Derek, perhaps to make sure he didn't cause trouble, or simply to see what he was up to.
Harth's nostrils flared and he lifted his head at the sharp sound of the slap, surprised by the female's actions; well, maybe not terribly surprised... after all, he'd seen this behavior displayed by humans before, and noted that the females tended to slap, while the males preferred to ball up their hands and punch. Either way, it was a sign of aggression, and he knew it could escalate. "That clarifies things. She's not happy with Adrian." The stallion commented idly, before he gave his head an impatient shake and nudged Ethan's shoulder.
Unfortunately, Ethan didn't have the time to spare for Harthrou's attention or to return the compliment that he'd been given by Ellis, as much as he certainly appreciated it. "Woah, woah, woah!" The tall man stepped briskly forward to try and place himself between Adrian and Chase, looking less than pleased at how the 'conversation' was deteriorating. It was in his best interest to keep a physical fight from breaking out, because the last thing he needed was for the public opinion of the PDP to be tarnished by something like this. "M'am, I'm sorry you don't feel the same as we do, but you're not going to stop us from this hunt." Somehow, his 'sorry' didn't sound sincere, and his use of M'am instead of Chase further showed that he wasn't taking the girl's feelings into consideration, "Go find yourself a shelter to work at if you want to help the animals."
Chase
Chase rolled eyes at Ethan. These men were exactly why some girls chose to swing for the other team. She shook her head backing up another step,
"Don't take this the wrong way, but f|_|ck yourself"
She said with a light shake of her head. And for his information, she did volunteer at the shelter. She glanced over at the man that had just entered. She was too upset to actually notice him when he first appeared. She sighed heavily, so she was right. There was nothing she could do about it. She kinda had the feeling as soon as she stepped from her car.
She folded her arms and walked away from them. I guess it was time to find something else. She hated walking away from them but what else could she do. Maybe she could help the animals they captured. Though she could keep such a small amount in her small apartment. She'd eventually figure something out.
Derek Carter
Derek had noticed the attention of some of the men slide to him. He wasn't sure whether he liked it or not but hey, as long as they didn't start talking trash, they'd be ok. Wow, he was already thinking of provocations for a fight. What had gotten into him? He had been about to step forward if things escalated, not sure what the man was going to do about the woman's hostility but he wasn't about to let it go unpunished if the man decided to get aggressive himself.
He felt his body relax some, the fists slowly start to uncurl from his palms, as another man of the group stepped in between. Good. At least someone had a little bit of manners. As he spoke to the woman, Derek frowned again. He wasn't being very polite, that's for sure. He still didn't even know what the fight was about though, so he wasn't about to jump in the middle of something he knew nothing about and look like a complete idiot.
When the girl spoke, he couldn't help it. A slight chuckle left his mouth. He didn't even give a damn if the men heard him. He couldn't believe her bravery. She was facing a group of strong men with guns and ferocious looking animals and she still had the nerve to tell a man to go to hell. That was priceless.
As she turned to walk away, he resisted the urge to go ask if she was ok. He could tell just from watching her the few seconds or so that he had done so, that she was no fragile girl who wanted his attentions. She wasn't going to fawn over a man who treated her like a child who just got her feelings hurt. She'd probably just slap him too. Derek grinned at that. Mmm..he might like that.
But enough of the perversion. This wasn't a good time for flirting. He was still new around here and had yet to make a name for himself. He wasn't even sure what kind of name he wanted to make for himself. He flicked his wrists, moving his hands to untighten them. There would be no fights or drama here today unless the men wouldn't let her walk away.
He moved back, sliding his back till he was sitting at the base of the tree. Curling his knees up, he folded his arms across the tops of his knees lazily and continued to watch the men. He couldn't help but stare at the girl as she walked by, entranced by the predatory way she moved. She was a real catch. If only he had the nerve to try it.
Derek Carter
~male~27 years old
~6'1"~180lbs
~blond hair, green eyes
~tattoos: lower right arm says "D" and on wrist says "slit here", on back of same arm says "Allan Carter" in dedication to his father
Listen, girl. Manners only get you killed here. Gotta be tough. Gotta be badass."
It was then that he noticed Derek. He narrowed his eyes and threw a glance at the other man. "If you take a picture, it'll last longer." He said with dry, bitter sarcasm.
Ellis stood on the sidelines with the horses, tipping his hat so he could see his surroundings better. His eyes darted all around, then finally landed on Adrian and Ethan. "Y'know, it might be best if we just go huntin' now." He suggested in his thick southern accent. He had his hand on Red October's mane. He absolutely could not wait to get going.
Chase
Chase has barely heard Adrian when he spoke again but she knew for a fact that she had heard him call her a bitch again. She stopped and froze in her tracks. She balled her fists up and took in a slow breath. Her eyes were closed. God she was really starting to strongly dislike this place. He had pushed her to her breaking point and it was safe to say that if she had a knife in her hands, stabbing it in his face would be no issue to her.
She released her breath and pushed her hair from her flicking the guy off as she continued to walk. She'd stick to the dogs, they were so much easier to deal with. But the thought was somewhat nice to know that the guy would end up alone. Any girl dumb enough to put up with such shit had to be either one; to ugly to find anyone else or two; So ignorant herself she didn't care. She wanted so bad to blow up in his face and pound him with everything that her small body held in.
She raised an eyebrow when he said a smart comment to the man she noticed earlier that seemed to be watching the situation,
"Oh my god, shut the hell up. Must something retarded spill from your mouth everytime you open it?"
Chase asked maddly.
Adrian
Adrian was mostly silent for a while, though chuckled every now and then. He couldn't believe how...bitchy this girl was. At least, he thought so. He didn't speak again until Chase did. "You're just proving more and more that you are a bitch. Hey, you're the one who came over here and started complaining about everything!" He was really getting tired of this. And then, he heard a nearby voice...
"Hey!" Ellie shouted as she stormed toward the group. "What are you doing?!" She took her rightful place next to Adrian. "Listen, girl, you're bothering my boyfriend, and if you don't stop, I'll personally put a bullet through your eye socket. Got it?" Yes, their relationship was serious. Not only was she pregnant with Adrian's child, but she also offered to shoot people for him. Well...true love, right?
The woman nodded to Ethan briefly, in recognition that he was Adrian's friend and that he was here.
Dawn & others
Dawn was helping Deliah excercise Demon, Shadow Wing, and Moonlight. Usually it was just the first two and White Desert, but Moonlight's owner asked her sister to do it since she wouldn't be able to make it. That is when she found out Deliah was comming. Dawn should of known Isabella would of only come if it was just her and Dawn. Dawn was the first to notice the large group as she began making Moonlight gallop around the ring with a few commands. She looked to where her own horse White Desert stood in the pasture nearby watching them. As she turned back around, she noticed the hounds, horses, and humans. A woman and two men seemed to be having some conflicts, but Dawn didn't say anything about it since it wasn't her buisness. She didn't know why they were there, but she didn't like the sights of the guns. She looked to Deliah to get her attention so she could let the older woman know about the large group gathering.
Deliah had been commanding Shadow Wing to go at different gaits while her colt ran along her side. He had a halter on his face, that she had put on earlier incase she needed to catch him or something. He was still not as tamed as Deliah would like him to be before she started on other things with Demon. Seeing Dawn's look she glanced in the direction for a moment. She recognized Adrian and Ellis, but nobody else. Adrain's group had been allies with her group, but she didn't know if they still were. That was Rose job, since Deliah was only the healer. She moved in a different position so she could keep an eye on them slightly as she still commanded the horses. Since she pratically helped Rose raise Dawn when she was a thirteen year old to early adult she still felt protected of the barely adult woman, and the guns made her cautious. She herself was still young at 24.
"Dawn perhaps you should ride Moonlight around the ring, she seems to be getting restless." She spoke for it was slightly true as the mare kept trying to speed up in her trotting gait, and she wanted Dawn to ride out if she had to. Moonlight could jump the corral fence if ordered or wished too.
Chase
Chase couldn't help but laugh at the girl. She rolled her eyes and looked at her like she was dumb. Did she even just listen to what she just said. She hated people that pretended they were all there ever was in life. This girl may of thought she was going to shot her or maybe she was saying it for show but Chase was far from the girl that was going to be afraid of such a comment. She cocked her head at her, one hand on her hip. The bitch comments were losing their effect. You can only be called bitch some many times before just not caring. Her attention was on the blonde that must of thought of herself as Rambo.
She really didn't know what to say to such an ignorant comment. She raised an eyebrow,
"Wow...you're going to shot me? If thats not immature I honestly don't know what is."
She said with her head still cocked. She sighed, Chase knew her limits and what she was able to do. Chase could take shit just as well, but the difference being knowing when to pick battles. She glanced down at the swollen belly and smiled a bit. She loved babies, but this baby would surely have it's hands full with such dumbfounded and unintelligent parents.
Ethan & Others
The potential for a cat fight had suddenly jumped up, an incident that Ethan was just as hopeful to avoid so long as he and his crew were here. Even if nothing more than a few verbal insults were passed, the man was become just a little bit leery of Chase and her defiance against them all, particularly as he thought back to her request for a gun. Was she the type that would try shooting them while they were out in the woods? Or... - oh, his annoyance churned at the thought - would she pull some stunt like Nadeem had once done, and go gallivanting on ahead of the hunting party to frighten all the potential targets into hiding? Judging by her feisty attitude, he didn't doubt she was capable of such things.
"Adrian." Ethan cleared his throat and spoke loudly, inserting himself into the argument without acknowledging the fact that they were still trading insults with one another, "I'm taking at least three in my group along the western mountains. You wanna tag along with me, or lead another group? How about you, kid?" Tired of the bickering, he cut to the chase, so that they might get the hunt underway and prevent this fight from growing any worse, or heaven forbid... attract any more protesters. From Adrian, his deep-set eyes flicked to Ellis, not sure of the kid's name yet.
Waiting for the parties to get organized, most of the other guys continued to mill around, keeping to their side of the corral so they wouldn't be in the way of the horses who were being exercised. Derek wasn't forgotten either; a careful watch was being made of him, without being too obvious about it.
Derek Carter
Derek could only chuckle at the man's comment. Seriously? The picture insult went out of style ages ago. Grow up and find something new. What cha going to throw at me next? The whole "I know what you are but what am I?" routine? Or maybe the "I'm paper, you're glue, whatever you say sticks back on you." Ha, Derek cracked himself up.
He watched the girl flick him off and got a little enjoyment out it, cracking his lips into a grin. Damn, she was a spitfire. Good luck taming that beast. He turned his gaze back on the man as a woman seemingly appeared out of nowhere. She looked to be of child, but who was Derek to judge? Good thing he'd avoided knocking up any of the sluts he used to hang around with. He was in no position to take over child rearing. Too damn immature, his father had told him. And too damn broke, he had added in.
Thinking of his father always brought a smile to his face. He wished he was still alive. God, he missed that man. As the prego girl spoke to the spitfire (as Derek had begun to call her in his mind) about shooting her, he couldn't help but roll his eyes. Really? So she has to threaten to kill a girl just because she doesn't like what her baby's daddy is doing? Wow, overreact much. Derek tried to keep the words "crazy bitch" from his mind but it was a little hard. Good luck keeping that one on a leash, sonny. She looks like the type to take happy pills. Isn't that what they call them nowadays?
Again, the spitfire got a grin out of him with her comment about the girl being immature. Took the words right out of my mouth, sweets. But this looked like it might turn ugly, so Derek thought it best to stand up and be ready. For what, he didn't know. As another man suddenly brought himself into the conversation with trying to change subjects back to their hunt, Derek frowned a little. So that's what all the hubbub was about?
He wasn't against hunting, in fact he'd enjoyed a few trips with his father when he was little. But he could tell by the baggage and animals with these guys that they weren't hunting bucks. No, it was something much bigger. So the target(s) must be the reason the spitfire had such an attitude about it. Well, good for her. Go all activist and crazy on them. Just turns me on more.
He could feel small glances thrown his way from the group and knew the other men were watching him, if trying to keep stealthy about it. Well, good luck with that. All those years of fighting kind of makes you a little more paranoid about your surroundings and the people in them. Especially when they had attack animals and guns. He was unfamiliar with this place and its ways and didn't plan on going down at gun point his first week here. Wow, what a record.
But he couldn't just leave the spitfire alone to face these men. If she wanted to stay and argue, he'd at least stay along for the ride. He had overheard the one man's name, Adrian, so at least he knew one person here so far. Would he ever learn the name of the beautiful girl who faced him? Who knew.
Chase
She looked at Ethan with a slow nod, then let out a breath rolling her eyes. She had grown bored with the empty lines and threats the hunting group had released and decided to go about her and figure it out herself. She glanced at the guy who laughed and cocked her head at him, she hoped her wasn't another asshole. She was far from in the mood. All she could see was the grin on his face and she had heard nothing from him but a laugh. She eyed him before making a face at him, so what if she was acting like a pre-schooler again. She had to get all her frustration out. If she was still a child she would be throwing a tempertantum from hell right about now.
She'd been quite a handful as a child and she didn't really regret it. It made her who she is today, she was just happy her father let her do what she wanted instead of punishing her. She'd actually never had a hand laid on her, her entire childhood. Even when she needed it. She glanced over her shoulder as she finally left the posse heading towards the lone guy,
"Don't start shit kay? Now, am I amusing you in some way? If so,I think I should now about it"
Chase said letting her breath out. Her hands on her hips as she noticed the big cats. WTF!. Why were they here, god humans were so dumb. Why would anyone take an animal and try and domesticate it. There was no way they could give that animal everything it had in the wild.
Derek Carter
Derek couldn't help but keep up the goofy smirk as the girl turned to glance at him. He couldn't tell by her face what she was thinking but he hoped it was nothing bad about him. He knew he could come off as a major jerk just by his looks alone. The tattoos, the ragged clothes, the close cut hairdo. It made him look like a gang member. Not that he usually cared what people thought about him. But he did care what she thought, for some reason.
As the girl headed toward him, he raised an eyebrow, not sure where this was going. Was she still pissed at the group of men and going to come tell him off too? Maybe she thought he was with them. But then she'd have to know from the way Adrian spoke to him earlier that he didn't know them. So maybe she was just going to do the whole tease thing.
Walk over like she was about to talk then turn and walk away. Derek could see her doing that. She looked like the teasing type. It added to the challenge. Made him want it more. Feeling a little idiotic just standing against the tree, Derek ran his fingers back through his short blond hair. He put the other hand in his pocket and leaned back against the tree, crossing his legs to look more relaxed.
When she spoke, he only grinned wider. Now, why would I do that? I have no quarrels with you. I don't even know you. Yes, you are amusing me, if you want me to be honest. You're a brave girl. Not many could walk up to a group of men with animals and guns and say what you just said. There. Anything else you think you should know?
He smirked a little at the comment, letting one of his dimples show. He watched her put her hands on her hips. It was so cute. Made her look like a little elementary girl trying to show how independent she was. It reminded him of something as he looked at the girl again.
By the way, that face you made at me was priceless. Cute. He hoped he hadn't offended her by saying that. He was just a real honest guy. It had gotten him in trouble when he was a teenager. If he cheated on one of his slut girlfriends, he told them. He had made the mistake of expecting the same from them but it never seemed to happen. He always got the short end of the stick, finding them in his bed with a best friend or guy he'd never seen before, one of the two.
Friends. So unreliable. That's why he liked to stay solo. Too many liars. He never claimed to be perfect, but hey, at least he could claim his flaws. Some people were just too dumb and blind to see their own.
Chase
A grin appeared on her face as she laughed lightly. Her hands still on her hips. She glanced him over as she took a small step towards him, cute huh? She lost the grin quickly, she hoped he was not trying to be sarcastic and act as though she was a child. She would certainly hope not. She pushed the hunter to the back of her mind though she was still angry about it, she couldn't decide whether to go ahead of them and scattered the prey. She glanced over her shoulder at the huddled up group. She had no gun of her own so she's would defiantly have to locate one and quick.
It was mere seconds before she suddenly looked to the man in front of her,
"Well if you don't work for them who are you? Wait, are you hunting?"
Chase asked quickly. If he was here for hunt she'd simply walk away right now. She wanted to go home anyways. She had enough disappointment. Well, still hadn't exactly decided to do anything or not. Maybe she'd hold off. She really didn't feel like acting like a mad woman in the middle of the woods.
Adrian
Adrian rested his arm on the stock of his M4, raising an eyebrow at Chase. There were some people he just didn't understand. "Nah..." He said curtly to Derek, "...she's not brave. She's just a complete dumbass. Poor stupid bitch, I kinda feel sorry for her." With a chuckle, he walked away, whistling contently. "C'mon, guys. I can't take anymore of this chickenshit bullshit." He briefly glanced at Ellis. "Take Zola, 'cause she's not as completely insane as Red." He suggested.
Ellis nodded and mounted the grulla mare. "Hey man, did you ever hear about when my friend Kieth and I went horseback riding? Well, we did, and Kieth fell off. I swear, that horse was crazy, 'cause when he fell off, the crazy son of a bitch turned right back around and trampled him again. He had bruises over 90% of his body." He had a way of embellishing his stories about his friend. Some of them were complete fakes that he simply made up to amuse people.
Adrian chuckled as he mounted Red October. "You and Kieth, you little bastard." He said with a grin, "I would kill to have a crazy unlucky friend like that." Adrian shook his head, still laughing a bit, remembering all the stories about how Kieth should really have died but somehow survived. He then looked at Ethan. "Really, man, I can't stand being here for one more second. I'm getting out of here, and I'd suggest you do too before the crazy bitch tears your throat out for having an opinion." With that, he whistled to the dogs and Kira, and they followed him toward the mountains. Ellis began riding Zola behind Adrian, though stopped for a moment to wait for Ethan and his party.
Eva * Aralyn
Not to long later, another truck pulled up, with a single horse horse trailer, followed by a second truck with a trailer as well. The first truck emitted Aralyn, who everyone knew was against the hunting. She slowly unloaded her mare, Psyche. The hispano arabe was already tacked up and ready to go, but the sly grin upon Aralyn's face was more then enough to put someone ill at ease. She had recently had her baby, and it didn't take much to make her tired these days. Whoa. She murmured softly to Psyche before dropping her rains, and heading towards Ethan. Bad day for hunting, Ethan. She said softly, those bright silver blue eyes watching him.
The second trailer held Eva's horse, Cyclone. She backed the arabian stallion out, already saddled as well, and pulled herself into the saddle effortlessly. Where are we going? Eva asked Ethan softly. She was a doctor, but had always enjoyed hunting as a sport. Her stallion was one of the fastest around, and she was going to make sure that she got at least something. Her long red hair was flaming in the sunlight, her silver eyes hidden by sunglasses. She waited patiently, eyeing Adrian and them for a moment. OR is this just a giant free for all?
Ethan & Others
He was ready to get out of here, and put as much distance as he could between himself and Chase, and whoever else showed up to try and put a kink in their hunting plans. Without waiting for a reply, Ethan was already mounting the horse and waving down one of the men that were going with him. Harth tossed his head slightly and took a few steps forward, just as eager as Adrian and the others to get out of this place and start their hunt. As he was taking up a pack and a gun being handed to him by one of the other guys, he saw the two familiar ladies heading his way, and had to soften his expression in response. This was Ben's 'daughter' - he had to be careful. "Not to worry Arayln, we're in an agreement with Tarak, and we're not hunting near the packs he's researching." When only minutes ago he'd used the man's name in disgust, Ethan was civil and polite with Aralyn. He knew she'd worked with the Lady at the farm, and hunting simply wasn't her thing, so he was going to do his best not to turn this into a conflict. To Eva, he was forced to keep his tones the same, "We've got at least two groups heading out, mine is going along the mountains to the west. You can join us if you want, or the other group - they aren't decided yet on where they're going."
"You guys ever been on a hunting trip in this valley?" Harthrou wanted to trot forward to speak with Red and Zola, but since Ethan was lingering behind to speak with the females, the stallion had to raise his voice to be heard across the distance.
Derek Carter
Derek felt his whole face brighten when she grinned. God, she was sexy. He noticed her glance back over at the group and wondered what she was going to do to ruin their hunting plans. He wasn't really either for or against the whole thing but he would walk with her to whatever she was planning on doing just to get to know her a little better.
He cocked his head a little to the side at her questions and laughed a little before extending his hand out to her. Oh, my bad. I'm Derek. Derek Carter. And no, I'm not hunting. See? No gun. He put his hands up and turned a slow circle in front of her, an amused smirk on his face. Hoping she was satisfied with that answer, he smiled again and re-extended his hand. And you are?
His green eyes were brightly lit and inquisitive. They turned a little dark when he heard Adrian talking. That dick still running his mouth? Derek shook his head in disappointment. Dude, you just got told off by a woman. Get over it. Your balls will grow back some day. He couldn't help but ball his fists up when the guy called her a bitch again. Man, that's so demeaning. You really need to update your vocabulary.
When Adrian turned back to his guys with his last comment, Derek laughed and looked at the girl, his eyes bright with mischief. Chicken shit. Says the guy with the guns and animals. I wouldn't call it chicken shit at all when a lone girl with no backup, no animals, no weapons at all, can walk up to someone and speak her opinion. He smiled genuinely, glancing over her shoulder for a few seconds to look Adrian right in the eyes. Chicken shit should learn how to sniff their own kind before they go calling others names. His smile pulled into a teasing grin toward the man for a second then turned his gaze back to the girl.
HE knew he was asking for trouble now but frankly, he didn't give a shit. If the guy wanted to back up his bull shit words, then bring it with a real fight, guts and heart. Leave your powder toys at home. Derek had backed up his many times. Not that he won every time but he at least made a lasting memory on the ones he fought. He would not back down.
He waited on the balls of his feet for what would happen next. If the guy wanted to be the chicken shit he was calling everyone else, he would ignore the insult or call out some more of his bull shit smack behind armed men and ride away to hunt. Derek didn't really expect anything else from him. He looked that type. The type to look badass for his crew but was really a coward in dark alleys alone. The type Derek beat down on the regular back in Los Angeles.
Chase
She felt her blood began to boil. This ignorant ass redneck. she turned around sharply, her small hands balled into fists as she watched the man on the horse,
"& your brave? Threating and running your mouth to me, honestly how big of a man are you if thats how you build yourself up. All you've said is bitch, bitch, bitch bitch. True redneck, no class."
She said maddly. She shook her head and simply walked the other way. She had never been so pissed in her life. This town was soooo dumb. People riding horses everywhere with vocabularies that consisted of merely 5 to 11 words max. She took a slow breath as she brung her hands to her face. She actually felt a little relief knowing that the ugly man, inside and out, was finally riding off. She needed a drink, but that would wait. Her attention snapped to Derek. She listened to him walking over,
"Lets grab a drink, this is making me wanna rip my hair out. & I'm Chase by the way"
She said warmly as she turned to walk a few steps towards the exit. She wanted to throw on a pair of her pajama pants, a fuzzy sweater. Pop in a movie and cuddle up on her couch. Or she could scream, maybe cry. Crying always wore her out and made her tired, but she always woke up feeling better. She moved a strand of hair from her face as she glanced over her shoulder to see if Derek was coming with or staying.
Adrian
Obviously, Adrian was already too far away from the woman to hear her. She was apparently talking to thin air. It was Ellis who responded. He was laughing too hard to speak very clearly. "Ohhhhh, man..." He finally said, gasping. "Dude, he's way over there. Are you blind?" He turned Zola around to face the girl and her half-wit friend. "And you, kid... You obviously don't know the definition of chickenshit." He was turning back toward the mountain when he added something else. "And I'll do you a favor and not let him know that you called him a redneck. Man, angry Russians with guns don't like to be called rednecks." Ellis himself was definitely a hardcore redneck, and he considered it a compliment whenever anybody called him one.
Ellis walked out of earshot from Chase and Derek. He couldn't take anymore of their shit. He was generally a laid-back guy, but it didn't really take much from two first-class jackasses - as he considered them - to get him all heated up. He noticed Eva and Aralyn there, tipping his hat to them and smiling. His mother was sure to teach the Savannah native respect and manners - only to those he didn't hate. "Hello, ladies." He said calmly. "It's fine with me if you come hunting with us. Hey, more people can kill more animals." He grinned a bit. "Adrian, Ethan and I are heading off to the mountains." He said this as an open invitation. Already he liked these women. Maybe it was because he was so glad to avert his eyes from the devil's girlfriend.
Derek Carter
Derek watched with an amused grin as the girl turned once again to tell the guys off. She never gave up, did she? He liked her spirit. When she turned back to him, he couldn't help but raise one eyebrow at her, wondering what she was going to do next. Then she said she needed a drink. Nice. Derek could understand that one. He had a little craving for some alcohol too.
As she turned to walk off, he glanced back over at the men again. What a poor excuse for hunters. Can't even back their own shit up. He laughed when the guy called him a kid. Narrowing his eyes seriously, he spoke in a calm voice toward the guy who spoke. I've been put in jail for knocking the shit out of men your size and age, so I'd watch who you call kid, dude. I know the meaning of chickenshit when I'm looking at it so don't try to teach me English. I did graduate, after all. Did you? His words said, he just grinned toward the men and shook his head sympathetically.
He had enough of their games. If they weren't game for a good fist on fist action then they sure as hell weren't as bad ass as they tried to make themselves out to be. Keyword: tried. They failed, by the way. Derek saw right through their little charade. What a bunch of cowards, he mused. But enough of that. Let them go take on someone of their own courage and skill level. Animals. Psh, that just about matches their IQ too.
As the girl walked away, glancing over her shoulder to see if he was coming, he couldn't help but grin back. He was already starting to feel a little more comfortable around her, even though she still intimidated the hell out of him with her beauty. It was just too tempting though. When she turned around, he gave his best whistle and grinned at her, letting her know it was all in play. He wasn't a sexual predator or anything.
Just a guy who knows what he wants. THat beer sounded pretty good right about now. Plus he'd be spending time getting to know the girl a little more. That, he really looked forward to. SO he started walking after her, not too close and not too far away. He didn't want to make her uncomfortable with him being right up her ass so he held himself back a few feet, like he just happened to be walking down the street in the same direction as her. He turned his gaze downward, wondering what in the world he was going to say to her when they were alone.
Chase
She raised an eyebrow as she turned around to look at Derek once she had reached the parking lot. She felt like a hooker in training. Bringing random guys to her car all but he seemed friendly enough. She laughed a little thinking about what the newspaper article would read. She stopped once she touched her door and leaned against it for a moment,
"Did you drive here or...? You can choose to ride with me or follow, I'm not a crazy killer if your not a crazy killer"
she said putting her pinky out for a pinky swear. Just so she'd have something to say when he had the gun to her head. He'd be breaking a pinky swear and that was just not acceptable.
Derek Carter
Derek raised an eyebrow, his gaze never leaving the figure that walked so gracefully before him. If he said he wasn't checking out her ass, well he'd be one big liar. Hey, he was a man, what more could he say? As they reached her car, he appraised it silently. Not a bad ride. He faced her as she spoke, his eyes going a little too soft as he dropped his gaze to the concrete at his feet.
Actually, uh, I walked. No car. He couldn't help but be a little ashamed of the fact. What kind of girl would date a guy who didn't even have a ride? He used to have a nice ride, a Honda Civic hatchback, deep blood red, his baby. But he'd had to make the choice, stay in L.A. with all the sluts and dickheads he despised, or get the hell out of dodge.
Well, you can guess what he picked. So without the cash, he wasn't getting anywhere. Then came the idea. Wherever he went, it was a new start, a new beginning. No more crazy three on one fights in front of a bar at three a.m. in the morning. No more crazy exes throwing beer in his face when he danced with another pretty face. And more importantly, no more calling his mom at five o'clock in the morning when she got up for work begging for a jail break...again.
He had been humiliated enough. His mother had been ashamed to have him for a son enough. He vowed to make her proud at least once in his life, even if he had to end his own just to give her that happiness she deserved. But deep down, he knew that wouldn't take her pain away. He'd have to find another way. So instead, he'd sold his baby for enough cash to catch a ride to this place, saving the rest for food and a crappy place to camp at till he found a decent job.
Well, no job yet but he had only been here a week. He still had some time, right? But enough of the groaning. Here was the prettiest thing he'd ever set eyes on standing in front of him with her delicately arched pinky held out in front of her like a model and he was brooding over yesterday. So with a more genuine grin, he held out his own pinky, entwining it with hers and squeezing gently for just a few seconds before releasing.
Not a crazy killer, promise. He spoke quietly as their fingers released, hoping she believed him. He knew he didn't look so angelic in appearance, but he really was a nice guy. At least to her. Those guys in the background, well he didn't plan on being so nice to them next time he came across them.
He shrugged his shoulder toward her car with a more uncomfortable smirk. Mind if I ride? His eyes questioned her sanity slightly, offering a strange man she'd just met a ride to who knows where to drink alcoholic beverages. But what did he know? She could be the psychotic one taking him to an alley behind a bar to take advantage of him and slit his throat, leaving him with a perverted smile on his face for the police to find and not care about in the morning. Psh, he wished.
Chase
She had to say she was very satisfied with the pinky shake and his answer. At least she didn't feel totally like a misbehaving child. She grinned and nodded at him as she unlocked the car and stood half way in her car. She picked up the hair from her neck holding it there as she spoke,
"I don't mind if ya ride with me. If I did I wouldn't of offered. Silly boy"
She said playfully as she hopped in closing the door leaning across the seat opening his door for him. She let her hair go and turned forward to start the car. She glanced around, wow. She hadn't really noticed that her car was a bit messy. Papers were all over the backseat including a small dog carrier. She laughed a bit and told herself she would clean it the next time she had free time. Chase looked to the radio and flipped it on, the sounds of Lil'Wayne's Phone Home began blasting in the car. She smirked and turned it down a bit. She wasn't a rap kinda person but she couldn't help it, Lil'Wayne just happened to be one of her small habits.
She leaned back in her seat, her hands resting on the stirring wheel.
Derek Carter
Derek smirked in amusement as she got in the car. He simply nodded to her words and took the offered door after she got in. Thanks. He mumbled as he opened the door more and slid into the seat, being sure to pick up the papers laying on the seat so he didn't smush them.
Not really sure what to do with them, he turned around in the seat to put them on the back seat, but it was already occupied by more clutter and a dog carrier. Huh. He smirked a little deeper and looked at Chase. A dog lover, huh? I'd have thought you more of a cat person. He raised an eyebrow teasingly.
Deciding for now this would have to do, he layed the papers down in his lap and folded his hands over them, content to just let them set there while she drove till they got to wherever they were going. When she flipped the radio on, he smiled. He also didn't take her for much of a rap kind of girl. Plus, he happened to like this song. He used to know all the words to it, back in his rebellious days.
Sighing slightly, he let the music lull him into relaxation as he turned his face to stare out the window, looking at nothing in particular. More because he didn't know what on earth to say to this girl. He decided to just ride in silence, let her start a conversation if that's what she wanted to do. If not, he was fine with the silence. Just knowing he was in the car with a hot chick was enough for him any day.
Chase
"Oh sorry about that, you can just throw it on the floor or something"
Chase said reaching over into his lap pulling the papers from under his hands tossing them onto the backseat. She glanced at the carrier again, a smile on her face,
"I'm a dog person of course. Cats can't keep up with me, they're too soft"
she said as she put the car into reverse and pulled off heading towards downtown. The only place she really know of here that had a good bar with good drinks. She pulled away from the Corral, Thank god she thought with a relieved sigh. She looked at Derek as he looked out the window,
"Not much of a talker? I can talk quite a bit, but then again I gotta have something to talk about"
she said with a smirk. She sometimes strived to see how much people would let her talk and the results were sometimes startling. She really didn't like akward silences, not this was akward she just didn't know anything about him. Maybe it was time to ask,
"As said earlier my names Chase. I moved here a short while ago, my choice. Not running or anything. I'm more of a um small town person. Big city lifes not for me"
she said looking forward glancing at him as she finished up.
Derek Carter
He widened his eyes, startled, as she pulled the papers from under his hands. He covered it quickly with a smile though. He laughed at the cat comment. Too soft, huh? I thought dogs were man's best friends and cats were the ferocious clawing beasts. If that makes them soft I don't know what's not. He arched one eyebrow and smirked.
When he looked out the window, he heard her talking and smiled, looking back over at her like he felt rude for not talking. So she wanted to talk. Okay, he could do that. Maybe. It was just the fact he didn't want to screw things up with her so early after meeting her. Or maybe he just didn't want to be thrown from a moving vehicle for being sarcastic....again.
As she started talking again, he nodded and listened, keeping his green eyes trained on her face, watching all the expressions flit across with interest. A small town girl? She was sounding more and more attractive by the second. He looked down a little and grinned. Not a city girl. Hmm..well I can't compare there. I used to live in L.A. so I know all about the big city. I used to be the type of guy you'd see walking down the street and hurriedly get to the other side to keep walking. The type you avoid. Not much of lady's man, in other words. He smirked a little again, his gaze going back out the window.
He wasn't sure why he was telling the girl all this. It surely wouldn't attract her to him. Probably the opposite. Maybe he would get thrown from a moving vehicle after all. He wasn't sure at all what this chick was capable of.
Chase
She raised an eyebrow at him. So he used to be one of those guys. She was fully amused with this. She waited til they came to a stop light before and dropped her hands into her lap and looked at him,
"So your saying I got a bad boy in my car? Good thing we pinky sweared, other wise I'd be ending up violated and dead on the side of some country road"
Chase said with a small but playful smile. She wrinkled her nose and reached over pushing his shoulder lightly,
"So what made you change if you don't mind me asking. Because I think you look cuddly, don't strike me as I'll murdering kinda guy"
She said as she turned forward placing her hands back on the wheel. She chuckled again,
"Well, not that you look overly friendly either"
She concluded.
Derek Carter
His eyes glittered with amusement. How could she talk to him so easily? He raised an eyebrow and chuckled a little as he looked at her to answer. Bad boy? I guess you could say that. I didn't hurt people unless they deserved it, though. Like guys who talk shit, that sort of thing. He looked into her eyes, his own getting smoldering in his determination for her to know this. I would never condone hitting a girl.
Then feeling a little awkward at the moment, he pulled away and looked out the window, muttering. My mother did raise me right in some ways, at least. As she pushed his shoulder playfully, he looked back at her and smiled. Then he shrugged. Just wanted a change.
He sighed, wanting her to understand, not really sure why.I didn't want to be that guy anymore. I was tired of feeling like nothing. My mother was ashamed of me. I saw it in her eyes every time. The disappointment. I hated myself. I had to get out. He shrugged again and smiled again when she called him cuddly. She was something else. He raised his eyebrows. Murderer? No. I just beat the shit out of you and leave you to call for help. He grinned playfully.
At her last comment, he frowned a little, knowing he looked like a hooligan. He glanced down at his dirty t-shirt and ripped old jeans. Yeah, he really didn't look like the kind of guy to offer a ride to. All the more reason to wonder about Chase. What made her so brave? Or stupid, one of the two. What did she see in him? He'd never have the guts to ask.
Chase
A frown laid upon her lips as her heart sank. There was no worse feeling than disappointment. She deal with alot but it was someone being disappointed, like they knew you were able to do so much more but you never would quite make the cut. She looked at him with a sincere look,
"Having respect and manners is a virtue all in its self and hey, you seemed to have at least n my eyes have that down. I don't have much patience when it comes to ignorance. Thank god I wasn't born a guy because I'd either be dead or in prison"
She said with a sigh. Though she did have her life seemingly under control, things weren't always so. In her teen years Chase ran her mouth often and chick fights were few but all bad. She wasn't naturally a violent person, not in the least bit. She was just so out spoken and many people hated it. She did understand but couldn't really say she did completely. She hadn't dealt a few things he'd mentioned. Her father was always so supportive, he was never ashamed. She knew she emotionally couldn't handle it if he had ever looked at her with pity in his eyes. Chase had never hated herself. She might of questioned her decisions at times but hate could eat you away.
She looked to him,
"Don't let the past bring you down. What happened happened and thats it. Whipe your hands, move on. Who knows maybe you can change it all around. Life's a bitch, and all you can do it turn it around and...yeah"
she said with a laugh. She smiled as she finally seen downtown come into view.
Deliah
Deliah watched them long enough to see that they were going hunting. Looking to Dawn she spoke softly. "Would you put Wing and her colt out in the pasture, but leave Moonlight, I might need her." Than climbing over the fence rail the woman walked to where Adrian and the others were. She approached silently as usual, and she stopped waiting for them to finish talking before she did. If they allowed, she would join the hunt. Besides she figured she should get to know other people around the area. The light smile on her face a real one.
Dawn unsaddled Wing before putting her and the colt back in the pasture. She made sure to take the halter off Demon before she let him loose with his mother. Moonlight stayed saddled, and tethered to the fence, before Dawn left.
Ellis
Ellis slipped a loop-chain collar on Kira, and the Amur leopard had no objection. She was used to it. She was an obedient creature, but she occasionally had a habit of wandering off. In a nearby tree, Kirill the gyrfalcon perched, waiting. Ellis lifted his head to look at Eva and Sanuye. "Would you like to tag along?" He said with a slightly nervous smile, briefly glancing at Derek and Chase as they left. They just creeped him out. He tried to clear them from his mind when he spoke again. "I'm Ellis, by the way. Ellis Parker." It was clear that he liked vehicles, as he worse a shirt that read "J.B. Autoservice" and a hat that had the Ford logo on it. His shirt also had a bit of motor grease on it, and he still wore his bulky mechanic jumper with the sleeves just tied around his waist - also covered in motor grease.
Adrian was the one who noticed Deliah. It was unknown to him that she and Ellis were friends, but it seemed by the way she approached that she was curious about the hunting party. "Hey, I take it you heard about the hunt." He said calmly. That was all he said, though, and remained silent until she would speak.
