Wing
Wing stood grazing by the fence that seperated hers and Best Move's pastures. Most of the others horses were around to.
White Fire, Magic, and Karen were the closest. Not to far off were Daisy, Creme, and Misty. Black Comfort, the lead stallion watched over his group. He didn't notice Best Move yet. White Desert, FireHeart, Acorn, and Anna were the other horses in the pasture.
best move
The stallion had been let out into his paddock for the first time since the beginning of the wintery season. There had recently been a light snow but he thankfully had a small shelter space within his limits, and that's where he waited out most of the day. He watched in a rather bored manner as his breath became a poof before his eyes and then blew off into the chilly air. He realized there were many other horses around him but at the moment he felt cozy, to say the least. Cozy and just plain uncaring. However, that was before his dark, dazed eyes landed on the nearby form of a familiar mare he had met just earlier. How long was she standing there? He picked up a lean trot over to the fencing after emitting a light whinny, feeling in a much better mood now than what he had before. He slowed up by the fencing and looked over. He felt rather immature after having acted in such a way. Maybe now he could get to know her a little better instead of just pushing her away. Contrary to what many thought of him, more times than not, he wasn't always such a jerk.
"Hello?" he called, although she wasn't too far off anyway. His bay pelt shook as he ridded himself of what little snow had collected there.
Wing
Wing looked up from grazing when she heard a voice. Ears prikced she turned to see Best Move looking at her. Smiling the arabian mare moved closer to the fence. "Greetings Best Move, how are you,"she asked softly. She flicked her tail toward her side of the pasture inviting the stallion to jump the fence.
White Fire, Daisy, and Magic nickered a greeting. All the mares were in season...
Black Comfort still didn't notice Best Move due to he was talking with White Desert.
Fireheart stood with Black and the others. He was one of the other stallions, but Black was higher ranked.
best move
The stallion's head perked up when he saw her coming over. He moved as close as possible to the fence without having to smash his chest against it, and nickered. He didn't talk to many and this was a pretty good oppertunity. "Good," was all he said at first, seeing her motioning to her side of the fencing. He wasn't sure at first whether or not Ashlin would be too happy with that, but then remembered just how he'de acted before. It probably wouldn't surprise the girl. He snorted, backing away, and with a small bounding leap, cleared the fence and landed with a strong thud on the opposite side. He sniffed the air, picking up the stronger scent of mares and then also a couple stallions. He snorted again and looked to Wing, unsure of what exactly he would say now. "I was an idiot." he said, and almost mentally kicked himself. That seemed like a pretty useless set of words to him. Besides that, he felt like he'de already known her for a while talking like that. Well he didn't, and it bothered him. How he was acting at this very moment also shocked himself, to say the least.
Mara Burnhardt
The petite girl wasn't used to the tumult of the city. She edgily looked at the smokers, the gang members, the commoners and the people who lurked in different categories, make their way around the city. Mara was quit confused why they paid no heed to Mara, but the girl tried her best to ignore the fact. Back in the country, you couldn't walk past someone's house without be barked at, cawed at or waved at. Mara missed her home, but she seeked comfort at the Corral zone. It was a nice place, with horses in the corrals and a vast track beyond the barns. Mara leaned her head on the fence, looking at White Fire and the others. Her older sister had told her to seek out horses to buy, since Joni was starting up yet another operation. Joni had been saving wild horses for a while, but now that the horses weren't in such dire danger, they decided to open up to saving horses and other animals from possible cruelity or pit fighters. It was something Mara wanted to do.
Mara looked at Best Move, her eyes lightening at the sight of the meaty Thoroughbred. She missed seeing such lively horses, like her gelding, Navajo, back in Kansas. Mara tried to look at the other horses, but she kept returning to Best Move. Good luck convincing Joni to let you ride that horse. She'll go ballistic thinking that I'd want to ride such a strong horse, Mara joked with herself, chuckling softly. She looked at Wing and the others, giving a whistle. She wanted to see who would respond.
Wing
Wing was silent at first as she watched him jump over the fence. "Everyone can be a idiot at times,"she said softly.
White Fire was smiling at Best Move. Still standing with her was Magic and Daisy. "Its no big deal, really," White Fire said who had watched the whole affair when Isabella had ridden Bestie. They ignored the whistle not recognizing it.
Black Comfort, Fireheart, White Desert, and the others still remained grazing in a tight group. They looked to the girl that whistled, but went back to grazing. They had nothing to due with that girl. Comfort bucked kicking Fire in the side to make the other stallion back up some. He walked with his head and tail raised high as he sniffed the air before grazing again.
Best Move
Bestie felt the presence of another creature nearby and flickered an ear in that direction when he heard the whistle. It was loud and made him give an aggitated snort, but he soon forgot about it and continued to look at Wing. He took on a more determined expression since he spoke just a few seconds earlier. He was beginning to feel more comfortable in the situation and simply gave a sigh, then shook his head lightly. He wanted to say that he always was an idiot, but of course he wasn't going to. He chuckled then, for no apparent reason it would probably seem to her, and then gave a little grin. "Oh well," he stated, giving his tail a flick. He turned his body then towards the unknown human. He just realized the human was standing there and stared hard at her. "Who is that?" he asked, ears perked for just a moment, curious. Certainly not Ashlin.
Mara Burnhardt & Flare
Mara smirked, climbing to the top of the corral fence and sat comfortably. Biting her nail listlessly, Mara just watched.
Nearby, the bay Arabian, Flare, was in his corral. Seeing Best Move and the others, the stallion went into strutting around his corral. Rippling flesh accentuated the muscles underneath his satin coat, the Arabian arching his neck so his ebony mane floated buoyantly over his neck. He arched his tail, letting it breeze behind him. "Hey there. What's with the silence?" Flare called, the mahogany stallion always up for a conversation.
Wing
Wing looked to Best Move. "I don't know. Its not Isabella or Dawn... or any of the others,"was her answer. Clearly she didn't know that human. Daisy snorted ears pricked as she looked at the female humnan.
Black Comfort hearing the Flare looked to the other stallion. "Just because you don't hear us talking dosen't mean its silent,"was his testy reply. Than cautiously he walked over to the human on the corral fence. He stood just out of range looking right at her. He was staring the unknown human in the eye down.
Best Move
Bestie continued to stand there, keeping that stare going for quite a while. He watched as another stallion approached the girl, and snorted. "It's certainly not Ashlin," he stated. He wondered for a moment where she was, anyway. She was only supposed to be his temporary owner, but he'de been under her care for a good while.
Then his dark eyes were drawn to yet another horse in another corral. The equine flaunted about in his enclosure, causing Bestie to lift his head and rumble in annoyance. He himself was like that all the time, but somehow calmed down over the past couple days. "This is turning into a little parade over here," he stated, just about ready to turn and move away.
Mara
Mara looked away from the stallion. She wasn't about to challenge him by looking him in the eye. Mara wasn't stupid, for she had already made that mistake with Navajo when she first met the horse. Mara looked at Daisy and Bestie, looking at the other horses just to make sure the stallion didn't think she was a potential threat.
"I'm not here to hurt you. Just...admiring..." Mara murmured, sliding off the fence into the corral. Damn, she had quit the streak of audacity.
Flare pinned his ears back. "Testy, are we?" But the stallion relaxed, stopping in the heart of his corral. "I just want a warm stall and someone to love me. But, five score and eight months....ain't getting anywhere. Et tu, my friends?" Flare wanted to know if he wasn't the only one that didn't have a home just yet.
Wing
Wing watched as Bestie was about to leave. "Wait. You don't have to leave yet.....,"she said wondering if he would stay. If he asked her to go with him than she would. She was tired of talking to the same old other equines. She knew them too well already.
Black Comfort didn't understand the woman. He reared when she jumped in the corral. Eyes flashed wild as he let loose a powerful neigh. The only one that had ever rode this ruthless stallion was Rose. Like all the other horses in the corral they had only 1 person that had ever ridden them. They were pretty much wild and untamed accept around that one person that had broken them....could this girl ride one of these horses?
The others pretty much ignored Flare. Except for White Storm who looked at him. Trying to remain polite she answered him in a soft voice. "Testy only to stranger...isn't that what everyone wants?" She was refering to the warm stall and someone to love. She wasn't saying that she didn't have it, but simply saying it out in the open.
Best Move
Bestie stood there, a bit uncertain on whether or not this human was beginning to bother him. He snorted his annoyance instead and turned back to Wing. "I'll stay, then." He would rather not move. He kept his dark eyes on the girl, and then to the other stallion who'de been prancing about. He didn't even bother answering, seeing another horse already beat everyone to it. Actually, most of them seemed disinterested anyway. "Well, that was unexpected." he stated in response to the human jumping into the corral. He'de seen Ashlin do it many times but this was a total stranger, and it sure didn't seem any of the others recognized her, either.
Mara
Mara shook as she saw Black Comfort. That was exactly why she had jumped in. She wanted to sit on the ground, near the fence, and let the horses come to her. She was calm as she sat down on the ground, looking at her chewed-up nails. Mara wanted to see if Black Comfort would approach her.
Flare flicked his ears as he looked at White Storm. At least one equine was nice enough to talk to him. It was true, Flare was arrogant and talkative. Actually, he was easily distracted. A reason why his owners had wanted to get rid of him. He was a brillant racehorse, but you had to get him into short races before he lost his focus. "Do you have one? Perhaps you have a 'family' with humans..." Flare asked, snorting softly. "Someone who loves you..."
Wing
Wing waited for a answer still. When it came a whole smile lit across her face. "So what happened to you original owner,"she asked curiously changing the subject.
Black Comfort glared at her though his eyes. Arrogrently he reared as if challenging the unknown human for being in his domain. In truth he was only challenging her to try to ride him if she was daring enough. His owner, Rose sister tried to ride her all the time. He often tried to throw her off, but it didn't work. Maybe he could beat this human...
White Storm didn't answer at first. She came closer to the gate watching him through slightly closed eyes. She was in season...."Whats it to you if i do,"she asked challengingly.
Best Move
Bestie snorted at her question. Some may think it'de be a touchy subject, but it wasn't at all to him. He would actually prefer to talk about it. After all, he barely even got to know the girl. "To make a long story short, she just disappeared." he stated, quite casually for such a topic. He then bobbed his head. "If you could even call it a long story," he added, realizing that there wasn't much to it. He'de only known her for what, a day? Then she was gone. He was still waiting for her to come back and take him, or else his current caretaker to hand him off to someone else. "I didn't get to caring for her much, I only knew her for about half a day anyway."
Mara;; Flare
Mara looked at Black Comfort, raising an eyebrow. She stood up, but ever so slowly. She leaned against the fence, letting her strength compose. She took several steps towards the stallion, but stopped mid-way. Mara waited for Black Comfort to react, eying the stallion carefully. He's just like Navajo...
Flare flicked his ears, sniffing the mare's scent. "I guess I'm one of the few equines in this valley without a family. Other than the ones who don't want one..." Flare flared his nostrils with dismay. He was rather cold on the subject. Flare had no home.
Wing
Wing looked to him listening patiently. "Oh. I'm sorry your owner left you...Do you have any family,"she asked mostly refering to a mate or children, but anything that he's related to as well.
Black Comfort reared when the woman came near. However he stopped after that rear with a snort. He just watched her now. Let it be known that if she did try to ride him it would mean hell. He would try everything to get her off because that's how he was. Wild, and hard to tame. So this human had better expect bucking, rearing, jumping, lunging, and speed alone. Orbs stared at the human.
White Desert smiled at Flare. "Just keep hopeing thats all i can say,"she said calmly to the male. She lowered her neck slightly while still watching the other equine. The female was in season like Wing and the others.
Best Move
The large stallion shifted a bit in his position, lifting a hind hoof and propping it against the ground. To tell the truth, he didn't really care about his previous owner leaving him. He hadn't gotten to know her well- at all. Just that one day. "No mate, no foals, only parents outside the Valley." he answered with a shake of his big head. He didn't care about not having any family around. Maybe kinda strange... But how he looked at it, everything was good either way.
Mara;; Flare
Mara edged forward towards Black Comfort, slowly. Soon she was beside the stallion, one hand placed on his withers, entwining his mane within her fingers, and one hand on his rump. Mara looked at Black Comfort, waiting to see how he'd act.
Flare nodded. "If there's any hope left..." Flare murmured.
Wing
Wing nodded her head. "Oh..,"she said wondering why he didn't care. She had wanted him to give her her first foal, but it didn't even seem like he wanted to have a mate or foals. Ears went against her head in discomfort. To her Bestie was a weird stallion. Almost all stallions wanted children and a mate, or mates for that matter. What was wrong with him?
White Desert nodded her head. "Believe in hope,"she said to him back. Snorting she ate some grass before raising her head.
Black Comfort looked to Mara curiosly. He waited for her to get on him. As soon as she did than he would be off like a shot. The stallion flicked his tail while nodding his head muscles working as he did so. He waited for the human still trying to be patient. A nagging thought was in his head though. Where was Rose and the others? Would his master be mad if another human rode him? He just shook these thoughts away as he waited for Mara.
Ashlin Glenn, Wonderstarr, Myth, & Best Move
Bestie was just that kind of stallion. It wasn't as though he didn't care- it was just that he didn't mind the whole being by himself kind of life. Maybe there was a deeper meaning to it, though...
The roaring of an engine soon sounded not far off, signalling the arrival of what appeared to be a truck. Behind it was a long horse trailor, shiny and newly-cleaned. It apparently already held an equine in it. The tall gray mare's eyes could be seen peering out from the windows.
The truck came to a stop next to the corral and the door opened, revealing a tall woman with her hair pulled back into a messy ponytail. She was wiping her hands free of any dirt that had gathered since coming to the corral. After she hopped out of the driver's seat, a dog popped up and came leaping from the seat as well. Her tail wagging, she hopped about, knowing quite well where their destination was- their new home!
Ashlin stepped up to corral gate and looked out, realizing that Bestie wasn't in his own pasture anymore. Blowing out deeply, she shook her head and stepped into this other pasture. She held the stallion's halter and lead in her hands as she neared him and the mare, clucking loudly. This caused Bestie to turn his head rather sharply as the familiar human stepped up to his face and slid the halter over his head, fastening it securely at the bottom. "C'mon Bestie, time to go home," she stated rather quietly, blocking the other girl and horses out of her mind. Well, she hated to say that the ranch would be his home, since she wasn't all too sure if he'de be staying with her. Oh well.
"It's her," Bestie said, watching her with high interest. He wasn't sure what was going on. She turned him, and surprisingly enough to her, the stallion followed quite willingly. "Uh, I guess we'll have to chat some other time." he called back to her.
Getting him loaded into the trailor with her other horse was quick and painless, and she was back in her truck in a flash. The dog was once again seated next to her. With one last roar, the vehicle was off to their new home.
Wing
Wing, Karen, and White Fire followed after the trailer that took Bestie. They wanted to have fun so they decided to ditch the pasture. Each one leapt the fence easily with grace. Than they followed after the truck, easily, but making sure to keep out of sight.
Mara
Mara bounced and managed to clamour onto Black Comfort's back. She felt graceful, even like a cowgirl, to jump from the ground and onto the stallion's back. But no sooner had she left the ground, she had a feeling something was going to happen.
Black Comfort
Black Comfort snorted as soon as Mara was upon his back. Than he lunged forward with quick movement, than veered to the left before half rearing with great feirceness. Try me...
Little did anyone know was that the oweners of al these horses were gonna be here quite soon. Deliah was walking up now sent ahead to tack the horses up. The others would soon be there. Deliah's horse however was Wing, who had gone mysteriously missing...
Mara
Mara dug her fingers into Black Comfort's mane. She took a breath, her legs tightening around the stallion's sides and her fingers wrapping themselves with mane. Mara tensed up, feeling Black's muscles underneath her. She could nearly predict him, leaning right when he tried to go left. She felt her legs slipped as he half-reared, but she managed. Mara was panting, but she was enjoying this tidal wave of adrenaline. She was more than ready for Black's best.
Black Comfort
Black Comfort reared to full height as he felt her slip. Than he plunged forward than to the right with a quick jerk of movement.
Deliah was at the fence than. She saw the unknown girl on her leader's stallion. Her eyes grew wide as she saw that three of the equines were missing. A hollow cry came out when she realized one of the missing horses were hers. "HEY,"she hollared at the girl on Black Comfort. She climbed over the fence meaning to ask this other person what the hell she thought she was doing, and where her other horses were.
Rose and the others were comming out of the barn when htey heard Deliah's cry. They took off running to the fence. Each of them either had a sword on them or guns. The swords were visible on their back, while the guns were unvisible in their pockets. "Who and what do you think your doing,"cried Rose as she followed Deliah over the fence. She glared at the girl on her horse.
Just than Black Comfort bucked hoping to throw the girl off him.
.Mara.
Mara bailed out that moment, not because she was afraid of Black Comfort, but because she saw the human. Mara rolled on the ground, until she was in the sitting upright position. She couldn't help but laugh, watching Black Comfort with amusement. Mara stood up and dusted herself off, looking up at Deliah. "This your horse?" She asked Rose or anyone, licking her dry lips.
Rose & Others
Rose nodded her head staring the other down. "Yes, he's mine. Where are the other three mares,"she asked her voice making clear she was not in the mood.
Just than two mares came pounding up. Deliah lead them in the pasture. Two down one to go. Rose still looked to Mara figuring she would know something. After all she was here when the three mares jumped the fence chasing after Ashlin's trailer.
