ASHLIN WONDERSTARR

It was a cold day out, no denying that much. The wind brought along with it yet another burst of cold, in which both human and animal often had to sheild their eyes from the snow. Ashlin was protected against the cold for the most part now, wearing her poofy jacket over the usual adornments. She had on a plain t-shirt and slightly torn jeans which had a bit of dirt somehow smeared across them. Just her usual stable wear.
On any other day, she'de probably stay in and drink a cup of cocoa on the couch, but she found that the company of her equine companion was always nicer than simply being tucked away alone. She stood next to the tall dappled mare, combing the horse's midlength mane out of any stray strands of hair. She would need to trim Wonder's mane once the warmer months arrived. Wonder, of course, was her horse.

The Thoroughbred wasn't a fan of winter, and though she often enjoyed the snow-covered scenery, she could always do without the cold that came with it. Wonder stood there quietly, letting the comb run through her mane without a fuss, particularly when it hit a tangled spot and had to be pulled back out. It was just a cold lazy day.

Portia - Ramex

Portia rode into the stables with her horse Ramex. Portia patted Ramex on his neck and hopped off. She held him by the rains as she walked around. She kept her horses at home but she always came down here to look at the beautiful horses. She had a lamb and a kid(goat kid) follow her. She looked kind of funny. Unlike most girls she almost never dressed up. Today she wore torn up jeans with a boys sweat shirt on. She glanced over at Ashlin. Her red eyes looking the horse over. Her hair was brushed straitened and tide back in a pony tail. Ramex her Gypsy Vanner Stallion Glanced over too. His feathers were well groomed so when he took a step they splayed out. His mane and tail swayed in the wind. He snorted in greeting and continued on.

On days like this, there weren't usually many people around the stables. Sometimes Ashlin herself would just like to come down to the stables and be with Wonder, and today was no exception. However, she thought she had been the only one in here. She always kept Wonder out in a paddock, but since the cold months moved in, she countered and moved the mare into a stall.
She turned her green eyes to look at the girl walk her own horse through. No doubt a Vanner, and a nice painted one at that. Ashlin always enjoyed seeing different kinds of equines around her. A very slight smile lifted her features, though she wasn't even sure if it was there or not, since the cold chilled her face. "Hello," she offered, and when she spoke, Wonder snapped out of her trance and turned her neck about to look. The mare snorted as her head pulled against the crossties, eyes straining to peer behind her at the passing stallion. She nickered lightly, causing Ashlin to give her a quick 'shush'.

Portia - Ramex

Portia tied Ramex to a bar and walked over. "May I pet her?" She asked. Her voice was quite. Ramex started to jerk his head around. He obviosly didn't like being tied up. He reared up and managed to pull the rope off the pole. He trotted over to Portias side a grin seemed to cross his face. Portia turned around and saw him behind her. She sighed and gave hima stern look. 'Hello.' Ramex walked over to the mare. In the front of his mane he had a thick braid. Portia had painted a circle around one of his eyes with juices, like how the native americans would do.

Ashlin pushed a couple stray strands of hair behind her ear as she stood back and surveyed her work of brushing out Wonder's mane. She smiled at a job well done and then turned to a small tackle-looking box on a stool and tossed the comb in, closing it and snapping it shut. Her arms folded against the chill, she looked to Portia and nodded, "Sure," she replied, and then her eyes were drawn to the Vanner stallion. "You have a nice horse there," she stated.

Wonder lifted her head higher, eyes observing him, almost as though sizing him up. She snorted at him, still unable to pull her head around to efficiently see him. She was feeling awkward standing there, to say the least. "Hello." she said back to him, giving her long tail a flick. Unable to find anything else to say, she blurted out the first thing to come to her mind. "Are you staying here?"

A couple stalls down from where the group stood, another neigh, though noticeably not as full of pep as it originally would have been, rang out from the darker corner of the small enclosure. A long bay head poked itself out from the bars and a pair of eyes was turned down the aisle. With a forehoof, the horse knocked at the stall door. Wonder simply ignored this, as she had come to learn how to do months before.

Portia - Ramex

Portia smiled she seemed to fill with joy. She placed her palm on the horses neck and gently stroked the soft mare. "Shes beautiful." She said smiling. Ramex noticed the mare couldn't mover her head and jumped over the rope. He just barley made it. "Na I get to go back to the barn back home with the lamb and goat." He smiled and pointed to the kid and lamb running around. "Do you live here?" He asked curiously. He looked over at the horse who had stuck his head out. "Hello." He called down the aisle.

Ashlin watched Portia, also making sure Wonder didn't try anything. She didn't think the mare would though, so she was more intent on looking at the other girl's horse. That is, until her eyes just now landed on the lamb and kid. Her face lit up almost immedietly. "Thanks-" she said, now watching the two small creatures. "Are those two yours also?" she asked, a hand resting on Wonder's face.

Wonder snorted and look at the Vanner, ears flickering. She felt her spirits sink a little at the mentioning of his barn. She could only wish she had her own barn to go to, but since Ashlin's ranch was on hold as far as building went, they didn't really have anywhere else they could go to. "Oh, that's nice." she replied. "I live here. It's supposed to be temporary, but I've been here since I was moved to the valley." she said, not too thrilled about that.

Best Move, or 'Bestie' as Ashlin liked to call him, kept his head hanging over the door. He didn't bother answering the other stallion, and instead snorted. "I wouldn't pay him too much mind," Wonder stated, trying her best to motion her head back towards Bestie.

Portia - Ramex

Portia nodded "Yes the lamb and the kid are mine. I have another kid back home and four dogs." She laughed they had a house full expecialy since her sister moved in with her. She was seven teen and on her own. She had always planned on moving out early. Her Parents lived in a large city and she perfered the country. When Bella came to visit for a week it turned into almost living here with her. The two of them would leave every now and then to visit their parents but other than that Isabella lived with her.

Ramex looked at her his eyes looked sympathetic. "Oh. So you kind of live here?" He said he felt kind of sorry the barn at home was better than living it this cramped place. "Maybe you could come visit our barn some time." He said trying to put a smile on her face. He turned and looked to the other stallion. "Why?"

Ashlin continued to look down at them for a while, and then averted her eyes back to Portia. She would have to make a mental note of getting a couple unique pets like that when she got her ranch up. "That's a lot of animals," She chuckled. "I have a dog, she's a Border Collie, and two horses." she said, reaching out to rub her palm across Wonder's neck. Ashlin was only living in something of an apartment at the moment, and though she didn't really mind it, she would prefer the countryside instead. Her ranch would probably take a while longer.

Wonder snorted and bobbed her head, as in a nod. "Unfortunatly, yes." she replied, looking around. "It's not so bad- I was moved here because of the snow but during the warm seasons I live in a paddock."
"That stallion is nothing but a glory hound." she said, snorting again.

Bestie heard this and knew she was talking about him. "I'll have you know I can hear you!" he neighed down the aisle, knocking a hoof against the door a couple more times in annoyance. He lifted his head as high as it would go through the bars and snorted.

Portia - Ramex

Portia Smiled "One of my sisters dogs is a Border Collie! I have a Bichon and a German Shepherd, my sister has a red Border Collie and a Wolf Dog." She looked at the goat "The lamb is a mix breed and the goat is a pygmy. My sister also has a Shire..." She trailed off. She had almost forgoten him. "I believe I laft him in the feilds..." She got a concerned look. She looked back at Ashlin "I'm Portia by the way." She smiled.

Ramex smiled. He him self was used to freedom he lived out side most of the time, with Rocket The young ones horse. Rocket was like a older brother to him even if they were both the same age. "Well at least here you don't have to share with a wolf dog..." He said snorting. Jack'O'Lantern the wolf dog back home had a temper. Around other animals what he said went. He often nipped at both Ramex and Rockets heels. Ramex laughed. He could hear them and yet she still talked about him.

Ashlin's face lit up even more at the mentioning of another Border Collie. She had always loved the breed and was overjoyed when a friend's dog had puppies. That's where she got her trusty canine from. "That's awesome. Mine's black and white. I got her from a friend back home." She kept a hand resting on Wonder's pelt. "Wonder here, and that crazy steed down there, are both Thoroughbreds." she stated, looking down the aisle for a moment. "I'm Ashlin. I haven't seen you around here before?"

Wonder simply tossed her head a bit, causing Ashlin to put her hand back in a pocket. The whites of her eyes flashed a bit. "A wolf dog?" she asked, almost unsure if she heard him right. "I don't think I could get used to that."

Bestie stood in his stall impatiently, starting to wake up more from his previous slumber. A deep sigh blew from his flaring nostrils, though it was anything but content. She always talked to these other horses, but never him. As though he was totally unaware of his rather troublesome nature.

Portia - Ramex

Portia bent over and picked up the pygmy goat who was running from the lamb. She felt a light bump against her leg and looked at the lamb who was looking right up an her. She giggled. "I just moved here not long ago same with my sister." She pat the goat on the head "This ones Lil' Mill. I have Jimmy Boy back at home. the lamb is Fontra." She looked at the lamb who had moved over to Ashlin. She sniffed her jeans and started prancing around her.

"I didn't either. He doesn't bug me much any more. He's more like a pest than a threat now. I'm smaller that Rocket so I was his main target. Finally I started bugging Rocket about it and well Rocket tought him a lesson... My human calls me Ramex." He said noticing they didn't know each others names.

Ashlin looked between Portia and the goat and lamb. She adored little animals. When the lamb came to her, she smiled and kneeled down a bit, holding out a hand. "Nice names," She tried to see if the lamb would try to sniff her hand. "My dog is Myth. Probably a good thing she's not around right now- she tends to be a herder." she said with a chuckle. Myth would be on their heels in no time.

Wonder listened intently, bobbing her head every once in a while. "I'm not too thrilled with canines of any kind- except for my owner's dog, but that's about it." she said. "I'm called Wonderstarr, Wonder for short." Suddenly she realized how restless she was beginning to get, so began to paw at the cement flooring.

Bestie snorted. Maybe it had finally dawned on him that Wonder just didn't care at the moment. He lifted his head back in and moved to the back of his stall where he could warm himself up again.

Portia - Ramex

Ramex snorted "Yes Canines are abit annoying aren't they?" He said sounding some what amused "Well its nice to meet you wonder." He looked over to the humans and nieghed.

Portia under stood the whole herding thing "Yes my sisters dog likes to herd my goats and lamb." She chuckled too "They are probably super used to it now." The lamb sniffed Ashlins hand and began to lick it. Her fuzzy lips gabbed at it and her eyes looked up at Ashlin. Lil' Mill lept on top of Fontra nocking her over. They bagan their little game of tag once again.

Ashlin smiled at the lamb and kid, before trying to run her hand across the youngster's head. Watching as the two suddenly engaged in a new game of tag, she stood back up and reached for Wonder's lead, untieing it from the crossties and wrapping the end about her hand. "I was about to exercise Wonder out in the arena, since it seems no one's using it at the moment." she stated, petting the mare's somehow poofy forelock.

"Of course they can be annoying, they're practically wild things either way," Wonder lifted her head gleefully and lipped at Ashlin's coat sleeves before trying to turn around. "Looks like I'm finally going to get a work out," she stated, observing Ashlin turning towards the indoor arena.

Portia - Ramex

Porita smiled. It was about time to go home. "I probably should go put Rocket in the barn at home." She grabed Ramexs bridle. "It was nice meeting ya." She said smiling.

Ramexs smile faded away when he noticed he was going home. "Bye" He smiled at her and walked away with Portia.
