Luke Anderson

Luke was never much for the café restaurant type thing, since he usually would much prefer a home cooked meal. Though, today he was going to make an exception. He had heard good things about this little café in town and that they served a pretty good cup of coffee. So, he had decided to drop by and grab a cup on the way back home from the feed store. So, he pulled the truck up to the parking lot then shut off the ignition before stepping out. He wore his normal barn attire, a pair of wrangler jeans, cowboy boots, a tee shirt, and an old cowboy hat. He walked without apprehension up to the door and then to the counter. He sat down at the counter and waited for the woman behind it to come take his order. Once the woman asked what he would have he ordered a large coffee. Then he looked around waiting for the woman to pour the black liquid. This place seemed ok, not too fancy. That was a good thing in his opinion since he was never the type to enjoy such elaborate placed that would cost an arm and a leg to eat at. Soon his coffee was placed in front of him and he thanked the woman…

The almost 19 year old girl walked anywhere she went. But this day she felt like driving. She had gotten in her chevy and pulled up to the cafe. She got out. She was wearing jean short shorts, a v-neck, and some old style boots. She didnt care what people thought about her. Not the one to say what other people think about her. She opened the door and the bell made a ding. She looked around and went to the counter, she sat a couple seats away from a guy.

''What will we have today Kristi?" the lady asked. ''Ill have a diet coke and then ill be gone miss" she replied.

After the lady brought her drink she took a few sips and looked around. "Its not busy like it normally is" she whispered. Looking at the guy she got up and went over. "why hello, mister. I couldnt help noticing you" she said her western accent sounded more like a regular but she didnt care.

Luke turned back to the cup of coffee that had been sat down in front of him and began to pour a little cream into it. As he did so, he had not been expecting anyone to approach him, since even though he had been here for a while, he knew very few people. So, he was a little surprised when someone did in fact approach him. She greeted him and he tipped his hat to her. Well, howdy, ma’am… That was Luke, all southern charm. Care to have a seat? There was a short moment while he waited to see if the girl might take up a stool beside him. He was never the type to oppose such pretty company, or pretty much any company for that matter. Once the girl sat down, if she even did, he continued to speak once more with that charming southern accent. The name’s Luke Anderson. A friendly smile was worn only to fade long enough for him to take a sip of the coffee from the cup.

Kristi smiled and took up the offer to sit. "Well, Luke, Names Kristi Vincent" she said her pretty lyrics that came from her lips. She smiled "What brings you here? A guy like you i would imagine be out riding." She said. Taking a drink of her diet coke. She set it down and looked at him. She then looked at the lady "Miss! Can i get a small bag of cookies as well?" she asked. The lady brought her cookies and she turned to Luke "Care for a cookie?" She asked a smile stretched over her mouth.

Luke took in the words that the girl spoke. Her name was Kristi, it was a pretty name. The girl then sat down and began to speak once more. She asked him just what he was doing here and that she would be more likely to imagine him out riding around somewhere. This brought a chuckle from the cowboy as he replied. Just taking a coffee break on my way back to the ranch. What about you, what brings you to these parts? There was that same deep southern accent as he spoke, though it wasn’t so strong as to hinder anyone from understanding him. Then the girl turned and ordered a bag of cookies, once they arrived he heard the girl once more. Sure. He then took the cookie and took a bite. These are pretty good. He hadn’t really expected for them to be, but they actually were. So, you been in town long?

Kristi Vincent

She looked at him "I dont eat the cookies they give me. I give them to my brother usually." she said. She thought for a minute and looked at her drink before looking at him. "Just thought Id see the town before im off and on another trip, but i dont think i will this time. So this cowboy does own a ranch. Mind if I tag along?" She said her western accent was pretty mostly had southern in it but thats cause shes been in alot of contries. His next question took her by surprise. "Well, My family lives here. I come back to see them about every 4 months. So, yeah and i just got back.'' she said and took one of the cookies she took a bite.

Luke Anderson

Luke merely nodded upon hearing the girl speak of giving the cookies to her brother usually, then he took another bite and chewed it up as she spoke once again. After swallowing the cookie he smiled once more. Well, the ranch I live at isn’t mine, I just help out there. But I wouldn’t mind showing you around. My sisters also own a ranch around here. The girl then spoke of her family living around here and he nodded. That is why he had left here, because his sisters and twin brother lived here before he had. My twin brother and sisters moved here so I moved here to help them out if they needed it. By now his coffee was nearly gone and he was about ready to get back to the ranch but he didn’t want to rush this girl especially if she wanted to come see the ranch…

She smiled, ''Family is nothing to me some times. Only good for food and friends and a place to stay. But thats me, once I find the right guy to start my life then ill stay around." she said and finished up her cookie. Her drink was already gone. "I love horses. In fact I love animals. And I would like to come along, family is out right now, One brother is with a girl the other is out looking and the last is just wonderin' around. Im the eldest of the siblings..and the only girl. So i learned how to do most stuff like riding, playing sports. everything from my dad'' She said, and chuckled, She remembered all the stuff her dad taught her, driving, sports, riding horses, and when her mom had asked her to come shopping she had bought big black boots and a hoodie and some tight jeans. and all that still fit her which was in her car. "If we go riding ill have to change into my jeans and boots." she said

Luke had always been the family type, he had never been one to be on the move and on his own. He loved having his family around and they were all very close. But, he didn't think badly about this girl because she was different from him in her beliefs. The girl went on to explain about her siblings and what they were doing and how her father had taught her sports and such. He nodded. She said she loved animals and he smiled a bit, he too was an animal lover. He had two dogs and two horses at the ranch. I'm ready whenever you are, then. The girl mentioned riding and he replied. That's fine, I do have two horses of my own if you would want to go riding sometime. He then paid the woman behind the counter for the coffee and waited for Kristi to be ready.

Kristi paid for her drink and cookies. She got up and looked at Luke. "Ill be right back before we leave, ok?" she said. She went out to her car and grabbed her jeans from the back seat. She came back in and went to the back. She soon came out with her jeans on. They had a rip on her right knee and they were tight jeans. She went out to her car and tossed her shorts in the back and came back in. "Im going to leave my car here. Its not really good for driving on a ranch right now. So, do you mind if I come in yours?" she asked. She looked at him and smiled. She was ready to go.

Luke Anderson

Luke only nodded as the girl he was with stated that she would be right back. It was nice that he could finally find a friend here in this place. He had so few now days it seemed, even though he was social and outgoing it just seemed like he was never in the right place to meet anyone. Maybe that was because he spent most of his time at the ranch with the animals. Once the girl returned she went straight to the bathroom and came back out wearing a pair of jeans instead of her shorts. Luke took that as the sign she was ready to go. So, he stood up and tipped his hat to the waitress who had brought him his coffee after leaving her a tip then went outside. His truck stuck out like a sore thumb, a big green chevy silverado that was covered in mud and dust, it needed a good washing for sure. As the girl asked if she could ride with him he nodded. Sure, sounds fine with me. He then led the way to the truck and opened the passenger side door for her, he was a true gentleman. Once she climbed in he would go around and get in, driving to Running River Stables.
