Zhener

The wedge-tail eagle was on a new mission now; to find food for a potential new friend. Sailing high on sharp, spiraling thermals, his keens eyes screened over the ground, searching for either live prey or carion.

Ronen

The snow leopard spotted the large eagle and felt his stomach rumbling with hunger. Getting a quick idea, Ronen krept into an open area and sprawled out onto his side, laying perfectly still. He was trying to act as though he were dead.

Zhener

Zhener soon spotted the prone cat and circled down a bit closer, studying the body carefully. Well, the feline seemed dead; after all, it wasn't often that he saw a snow leopard sprawled limp across the ground like that. Fully convinced that Ronen must be dead, or near enough there, Zhener came gliding down.

As usual, his landing was less that pretty, but he managed it without loosing any feathers, which was good enough for him. Now he began to hop towards the cat, beat outstretched to give the stomach area a good peck.

Ronen

The big cat lay perfectly still, hearing the beat of wind as Zhener made his descent. He could hardly contain himself now as the bird's scent drifted his way, and he could feel the creature move closer and closer. Then, when he was sure his shallow breath might given him away, Ronen sprung up, lashing a claw-filled paw at the bird...

Zhener

Never had he been ambushed like this before, and so Ronen's attack certainly did some damage. The eagle was flung to the side with a terrible screetch, dark feathers flying in the air. Blood leaked from where the claws had penetrated his thick feathers and gouged skin. Rather than pick himself up, Zhener rolled onto his back, drawing his wings tight against his body and arching his head forward. A little defensive tactic. His talons were spread and his beak open, ready for anything Ronen might deal him, "Stupid cat, you vill not 'ave me! I vill tear you apart!"

Ronen

Ronen was about to pounce upon his prey, but hesitated at the site of the sharp weapons that were in his way. Still, the scent of blood was too aluring, so the cat took a risk. Circling around Zhener, he swung his paw suddenly, trying to catch the eagle along the shoulder and spin him over...

Zhener

Zhener swiveled his flexible neck, striking out with a powerful beak at Ronen's flashing paw. At the same moment, he flung his own wing out, letting the sturdy flight feathers take a glancing blow from the paw. Flinging his other wing and kicking his legs, Zhener flipped himself up. A second bound of his legs brought his body upward, followed a second later by a forcefull wing flap. And that was enough, with the aid of the wind, to draw the eagle into the air. Splayed talons dared the cat to attack again, but the winds brought him quickly higher and out of danger. Glaring down and cursing the feline, Zhener sailed away.
