Peregrine

Father, come home! Watch me jump; catch me or jump after... BOOM
Peregrine's eyes opened with a start, his heart pounding in his chest with the fear of the dream he had just awoken from. For a moment he lay there, tired and confused; Where am I? This is not my home... He blinked again, then closed his eyes and lapsed into another fitful few moments of a dream.

Father, you're almost there! I've missed you, I'm sorry for being gone... Father! Don't leave, come back to me, don't leave, don't leave... Peregrine's eyes fluttered open again as the dream melted away. He tried to get up but stopped short as an agonizing pain gripped his side. His eyes turned upward, gazing at a cliff that rose a good distance above him. The Mountains... He thought suddenly to himself, trying once more to get up, but the pain and exhaustion held him back. "What happened...?" he asked himself allowed, lifted his head and then resting it tiredly back down. The wolf struggled to remember, seeking in his hurting head to figure out how he had gotten on the mountains, and why. Slowly, the memory came back to him.

"I was looking for someone... oh..." He groaned, partly from pain and partly from the memorization of what had happened to him, "I wasn't looking, I ran right over..." his misty eyes roved up the cliff side again, "right over that cliff..." Peregrine winced terribly as he finally managed to pull himself up so that he was laying on his stomach with all four legs beneath him. Energy seemed to be zapping from his battered body and once more darkness befell the wolf, sending him into another dream... Dark Star... the wolf breathed out hoarsely from his sleep, his muscles twitching faintly, ...I'm no alpha... no alpha... the pack is gone...

Lancaster & Tawni

The two cougar siblings awoke from their slumber after hearing the faint voice. Lancaster popped his head out over a big boulder and looked around, soon spotting the wolf with great curiousity. He indeed did live with some wolves, him and his sister. But this was a new wolf to them.

Tawni peered from behind the boulder and looked around, also eyeing the wolf. She yawned and hopped onto the boulder, her brother soon doing the same. He let out a sound that was like a roar and a loud meow mixed together. He was usually somewhat curious of new animals, sometimes.

Tawni only stared hard at the wolf that seemed to be having nightmares.

Peregrine

Peregrine shuddered violently in his sleep, seeing the form of a giant snow leopard in his dreams and hearing the roaring noise of Tawni. Memories of the she-cat, Sivinith, were strong in his mind. But the wolf managed to pull himself out of a delerious dream and his eyes flung open, staring in fear and confusion. But quicker this time, the wolf realized where he was.

Peregrine tried to get up, but there was too much pain, so he rested himself again and gazed ahead wearily. And then... he blinked quickly, raising stiff, throbbing head and focusing his vision before he realized there were two cougars before him! Now the thoughts of Sivinith, the angry snow leopard mother, came rushing back to him. She was smaller than these two, and yet nearly killed his two friends! Being in a rather helpless state, Peregrine spoke in an aprehensive voice, "I'm sorry if I disturbed you! I was just taking a nap." He didn't know if they had seen him fall, but he didn't want to let on that he was hurt.

Lancaster & Tawni

Lancaster cocked his head slightly and continued to star at the fallen wolf. They hadn;t seen him fall, of course, but they had heard him talking. Lancaster quickly piped up, "It was past our wake-up time anyway," He quickly reached down from behind the large boulder and pulled up a killed figure of a rabbit that Tawni had hunted down once. It was starting to rot a bit but they didn't care, they had kept it. They could cope with the strong fume.

Lancaster pulled his ears back and then outward, uddenly remembering that he wanted to go back to the Pyrola Fields. But he liked it here. He carried the pack's scent obviously, but it was also stained with a spit smell because he had been washing himself. Tawni carried the scent less. She smirked a bit and pawed at the rabbit carcess, letting playful growls emit from her throat. "We have to be getting back to the Pyrola Fields terra soon. That is where we are starting to live now." she said, getting excited since she and her brother were alone out here with nobody they knew around. She flicked her ear and started to lick her paw, her eyes narrowing.

Peregrine

The scents slowly came to him, and he was surprised to find the banner of a wolf pack permeated into their own odor. But then, his pack had had snow leopards in it, so Peregrine didn't dwell on that thought. His eyes shifted to the rotting carcass and he raised his head a bit higher. The smell wasn't terribly inviting, yet it was still a source of food.

Not about to ask if he could have it, Peregrine pushed the thought and his empty belly aside, "I'm glad you aren't as hostile as other felines I've met." The large wolf replied, resting his weary head down with a loud sigh. "Could you tell me though... who lives in your pack? If I'm not mistaken that is; you carry the scent of a wolf pack."

Lancaster & Tawni

Lancaster cocked his head and rolled his eyes upward, then brought them back down to look at the wolf. "We live with a wolf pack. The ones in our pack are called Aava, Vivek, Fita, Anaru..." ... "And Huttsa and Kavik!" Tawni finished his sentence for him. She waved her tail in the air and laid her body fdown on the rough and cold surface of the rock. Tawni rested her head on her paws with an evil grin after her brother shot her a glare. "Well, do you know any of them?" Lancaster said, cocking his head again while still looking at Peregrine.

Peregrine

His ears perked up and the wolf lifted his head from his paws once more, "Vivek...?" he whispered, his face taking on an expression of mix joy and surprise. "My grandson! Yes, I know him." Peregrine's tail thumped once against the ground, but then he looked worried. "I am unfit to reach him... would you send him a message for me? Tell him where I am, and that I wish to speak with him?" Peregrine knew he was too wounded to do much but lie there.

Lancaster & Tawni

Lancaster uncocked his head and looked at the wolf, curiously. "We haven't actually met him yet, but I will go after him... There is some trouble with a stolen pup of his, and Aava's. There is a fued going on right now. But I will go and see if he can come over. Be back in a flash!" the cougar called back as he wheeled around and leapt down from the large boulder and sped off for the Opake Mountains.

Tawni watched her brother leave. She sighed and shuddered. She whipped her tail slightly and cocked her own head, quite amused. "I am going to stay here, since there is nothing better to do..." she said, looking around while twitching her small pink nose. She bit playfully at the rabbit, pawing it wildly. She quickly pushed it off of the boulder an rested her head on her paws, just staring at it. She had lost her appitite for it, ever since it started stinking. She used it as a play toy though, but it still wasn't that important at all.

Peregrine

His brows furrowed at this news, knowing nothing of any pups or that his grandson even had a mate. Watching the cougar leave, he next turned his pain-glossed eyes to Tawni. He felt terribly vulnerable, and so tried to start a hopefully friendly conversation with the big cat. "Have you ever met any snow leopards? I know an awfully nice one named Snowden. He's a charming fellow."

Tawni

Tawni looked at him, raising her head high and perking her ears. "I don't know of any snow leopards, nor any other felines. But I have seen other cougars, but never actually met them." she said. She pawed at a passing butterfly and growled playfully. She quickly stood and looked around. "I wonder if Lancaster has had any luck. There is a tight spot at the Opakes." she said. Quickly noticing that Peregrine obviously didn't know his grandson had a mate or pups, she piped up again. "Don't you know that Vivek has had pups?" she asked, startled at the fact that the wolf's own grandfather didn't even know it. She whipped her tail around again like a cord and continued her eerie stare at Peregrine.

Peregrine & Vivek

Peregrine looked up with a start, "He has pups...? No," The wolf shook his head, resting it dismally back down yet again, "I've lived in the Wolf Center too long, and then in a seperate pack than his; it's a long story, kinda." The wounded brute gave Tawni a side-glance, unnerved by her stare.

Vivek came racing over the ground, following after Lancaster's scent trail, "Grandpa! Grandpa!" he yipped out sharply as Peregrine's scent finally hit his keen nose. And then his eyes fell upon the fallen wolf and he hurried over. "Grandpa, what happened?"

Peregrine looked up wonderingly at the grandson that he had barely seen while growing up. But his tail thumped against the ground and he strained to lift his head and nuzzle the young alpha, "I just took a fall. I was hoping... maybe I could reside in your pack now? I hear you have young ones." The wolf grinned faintly.

Vivek offered a smile in return, but was now worried about Peregrine's condition, as well as his daughter's situation, "Yes, I've three of them. But you need to get to shelter first." Vivek turned to Tawni, catching her scent and knowing she belonged in his pack, though he's never really met her before, "Would you help me get Peregrine back to our terra?"

Tawni

Tawni nodded at Vivek's words and hopped down from the rock. She lifted her cougar tail and walked slowly over to the wounded Peregrine. She cocked her head and sat back on her haunches. "I will help, but what form will this help be in?" she asked, watching the scene closely. She waited for Vivek's reply, her ears perked.

Vivek & Peregrine

"I think we will just need to support him, is all. One on each side. Can you get up, grandpa?" Vivek questioned, turning from Tawni to the injured wolf.

Peregrine nodded faintly, not at all liking to be so useless. Struggling greatly, he finally manage to pull himself up, leaving no pressure on his left hind limb. He stiffled a yelp as new pains came forth. Vivek quickly went to Peregrine's left side and waited for Tawni. Without their help, Peregrine wouldn't make it more than a few paces before he would teeter over. And going down a mountain trail; he would be likely to topple off another drop as well.

Tawni

Tawni quickly moved over to Peregrine's right side and she waited for them to move.

Vivek & Peregrine

Vivek nodded, "Alright, lets get back to the Central Lands." Slowly, he began to head to their home. >[? Peregrine struggled greatly with the injuries in his leg and inside his body. Flecks of blood foamed from his nose and mouth as he strained to walk, suggesting something of his respiratory system had been damaged. It was slow going, but the damaged wolf somehow kept to his feet, using the support of Tawni and his son.
