Roukan
'I am just a worthless liar,
I am just an imbecile.
I will only complicate you,
Trust in me and fall aswell.
I will find the center in you,
I will chew it up and leave.
I will work to elevate you,
Just enough to bring you down.'
As the Sapphire Brook territory fell into the distance, Roukan held his pace at a casual walk. He had been there twice within the last week, watching how the pack interacted from a safe distance. There was no doubt in his mind, he enjoyed the loner life but he also knew that hunting alone was one of his weak points. With his short legs, Roukan lacked in speed yet what he lacked in speed he made up for in strength. With his dark gray optics staring straight at the path ahead, he pushed forward towards the Breve Ridges. A silence had fallen upon the land, and Roukan welcomed it with ease as he headed towards his temporary home. As he reached the edge of the lush forest, the dark pelted brute glanced back at the Sapphire Brook pack in the distance.
His gaze didn't linger there for long, in fact within a matter of seconds he was back on track and heading towards the Breve Ridges. Tassel curled and skull held with pride as he treaded the earth, every so often he would eye the scenery from the corner of his eye but for the most part he kept his gaze straight ahead. As the brute drew closer to his "home", the smell of fresh water invaded his nostrils and his throat seemed to instantly become dry, longing to quench the thirst Roukan headed towards the river.
Upon first arrival, many seemed to flock towards the stream in search of company, or even to catch a few fish. Yet, this was not the case for the dark pelted brute, taking the less traveled path, Roukan made his way towards the part of the stream that was far less populated. He wasn't really one to strike up a conversation with another, so he'd rather go somewhere where he was less likely to be confronted. However, Roukan had his days, occasionally stopping to say hello and that was about it. And after weeks of traveling upon its soil, Roukan had the land practically memorized so he didn't have to glance to the path ahead so often.
As he neared the stream in which housed a large variety of fish and other creatures, he felt his belly begin to plead with him. The smell of fresh water beckoned him to the grassy banks of the stream, once there his black claws gripped the soil as he lowered his large skull to the water. Salmon pink tongue flicked out of his mouth, quickly lapping up the soothing liquid. Once his thirst was quenched, Roukan returned to his normal posture and scanned the crystal clear water. His muscles flexed beneath his pelt as he gripped the earth beneath his paws, his dark gray optics locked upon a fairly large school of fish. Saliva dripped from his lower lip as hunger over took him, dark gray optics narrowing as he tuned into the movements of his prey. Lately he had gotten pretty good at this fishing thing, but he was tired of the same thing everyday. He longed to sink his ivory fangs into the tender flesh of deer, or even elk.
Steadying himself, Roukan waited for the right moment. When that moment came, his powerful limbs propelled him off the soft soil and into the air. Once his paws grazed the chilling liquid, his powerful jaws quickly clasped around a fairly decent sized fish. Though he only managed to grasp one fish, he knew it would atleast sedate those pesky hunger pains for a few hours. As he stepped out of the stream, he shook his soaked pelt sending tiny droplets of cool liquid spraying everywhere. It was then that the lone brute spotted a couple, they were sitting just a little ways down the stream from where he stood. Yet, his attention was soon back on his feast as it flailed between his powerful jaws a few times before falling limp. Once he made his way to a near by oak tree, Roukan lowered his muscular form to the earth, placed a paw upon his freshly caught prey, and began to pick at it with his ivory fangs to avoid jabbing his mouth with its sharp fins and bones. Every so often his gaze would drift to the brightly colored heavens, studying the way the setting sun caused all the colors to blend perfectly together like spilled paint. It was simply beautiful.
