Portia
The world was crule. Portia walked over to a stone sitting next to the water fall. Her costume was still on. She looked at the wound on he arm, it was still leaking all over. She was covered in blood and her wig was now blonde with random blood stains. She began to cry. The life was terrible. Why was she alive? She bent over holding her right arm trying to keep the blood in. "God damit!" She shouted "Stop bleeding!" She looked up at the water fall. No one knew how tempting it was to to just fall in and never come back up. She stood and walked to the bank. "Just take me and don't let me return." She whispered before dropping into the chilly water.
Dimitri Volkov
Dimitri was leaning against the wall of the cliff with a rifle and a bottle of vodka. Kira, an Amur leopard, sat at the Russian man's feet. Pasha, a big gyrfalcon, perched on his shoulder. Dimitri was a father now and he had mixed emotions about that. He loved having a daughter. But he feared that little Shaine would grow up to have the insanity that ran in Dimitri's family.
Dimitri glanced at Portia, noticing the blood but saying nothing. He himself was recovering from a head injury. Technically, he shouldn't even be drinking this alcohol right now. Oh well. Dimitri took risks, as evidenced by all the scars he had. Though, most of the scars that littered his skin were from his father's 'experiments.'
What Dimitri didn't know was that his father inflicted to bullet wound on Portia's arm.
Portia
Portia bobbed back up to the water and floated. She hadn't noticed the man standing at the wall. She swam around a little and after a while got cold. She crawled on to the muddy beach and curled up. She felt refreshed now. The scar had left a streak of blood floating in the water. She stood and walked over to her blue van. She opened it and took out a cloth that was probably one Isabell's shirts. She looked over at and noticed the guy, but she noticed the gun mostly. She froze for a second. She didn't dare speak. She didn't want trouble. She reached for the door and opened it so Jack'O'Lantern could come out.
The large wolf hybred lept out of the car his brindle coat shined in the light. He ran up to the water and jumped in.
Dimitri Volkov
Dimitri raised the bottle of vodka and took another drink. He adjusted the rifle on his shoulder, causing Pasha to stir a bit. The massive white and gray gyrfalcon locked his eyes onto Portia, curious about this wounded girl. "Nyet, Pasha. Ostav' ego." Dimitri said to the bird in Russian. Pasha broke his gaze and instead looked at the opening to the cave.
Dimitri said nothing to Portia. He wasn't one to initiate a conversation.
Portia
Portia listened to him. He spoke like the man who had shot her. "Um Excuse me!" She ran up to him and stopped about 8 feet away. "By any chance are you Dimitri?" She knew there was a small chance but maybe this was the guy she was supposed to tell. She just wanted it off her shoudlers.
Jack'O'Lantern came out of the water and ran up along side Portia.
Dimitri Volkov
Dimitri looked at Portia, no expression in his green eyes. He paused, wondering if he should really tell her who he is. "Yes. Why do you want to know?" His voice alone seemed deadly. It gave the impression that Portia would have another bullet wound if she didn't answer fast.
Portia
She smirked and turned around "No reason" She was sure he was bluffing. And if he did shoot her Jack would get him. She wasn't going to tell him what she was supposed to. She wanted to learn the consiquences. "See this" She said pointing to the wound, "Thats from a gun shot. Feel free to shoot me. It won't do any thing..." She said smiling. The wound continued to leak and was freash.
Dimitri
Dimitri narrowed his eyes. She must be a spy. She must be a mole sent by Damian with no other reason than to piss Dimitri off. How else would she know his name?
He reached out to grab her arm, the one that wasn't wounded. "Don't fuck with me." He snarled viciously. He knew what a gunshot looked like, and he had the scars to prove it. "You can go back to wherever you came from and tell your boss I'm not going to play his damn games." He wasn't going to shoot her. He didn't want to waste any bullets when he could easily kill with his bare hands. He used the rifle for long-range sniping.
Portia
Portia jumped shocked by his sudden grasp on her arm. She yanked and pulled trying to get away. "Let go of me!" She yelled "Boss? I don't have a boss..." She looked confused "I don't even have a job..." She paused and pulled a little harder "Let go of me or I'll set the dog on you!" She hissed.
Jack jumped and and began to snarl at the stranger. He barked and held his tail up high.
Dimitri Volkov
Dimitri clenched his teeth and tightened his grip on Portia's arm. "Then how do you know my name? Who are you working for?" He questioned angrily. He glanced at the wolf hybrid. Ha! He took them on all the time. He then looked down at his own guardian. "Kira! Okhrana!" He ordered.
The massive Amur leopard, one of the largest cats on Earth, stepped between Jack and Dimitri. If Jack wanted to get at Dimitri, he'd have to go through Kira first.
Portia
Her eyes widened and she struggled hard to free her self. "The man he mentioned you!" She yelled "Let go of me kreep!" She flung her self. Suddenly she stopped and laughed. "Go ahead! Kill me! It won't get you any where and it will only make you feel worse! I don't care if I die!" She screamed looking up at the sky still laughing. Her red eyes fell on her sisters dog. "Back!" she shouted at it.
Jack heard the stearn words and backed down still growling. "Back off pussy cat. Hm isn't it un fair and a little stupid to attack some thing half your size?" He laughed "Your kind is really sad. Killing poor doggies for reasons unknown..."
Dimitri Volkov
Dimitri grinned at Portia's words. She thought she knew him. Well, one thing was confirmed. She knew about him from Damian. But it was her last statement that made him smirk. "Do you know how many people I've killed? It got me somewhere." He lowered his voice to a whisper. "And by they way, it feels so good to pull the trigger."
Kira laughed at Jack. "You stupid little mutt, we're the same size anyway, but it doesn't matter." She taunted. "Either way, yes, it's unfair, and that's how I like it." She paused and grinned. "It's not for reasons unknown, 'poor doggy' - you're making my master mad."
Portia
Portia frowned "Hm... well thats sad. May I ask why you kill?" She smiled and began to reach for her pistol. Just in case some thing went wrong.
Jack laughed "I'm backing down arn't I? Now go away. FAR away..."
Dimitri Volkov
Dimitri stared at Portia for a long moment. Finally, he spoke up. "...Because I have to. It's kill or be killed. I have no choice." It was self defense. What was he supposed to do when he had a gun in his face? Was he supposed to just give up, just let his father kill him? Just let the people who murdered his sister keep on murdering? Just let his greatest enemies abduct all those dear to him? He couldn't give up. He never gave up.
Dimitri loosened his grip on Portia's arm, though he didn't completely let go.
Kira backed up a bit, standing right beside Dimitri.
Portia
Portia smiled "Yes it seems so. I'v pulled the trigger my self before. But why kill with no reason?" She stood back and left the gun in her boot. "A man named Damian told me to tell you he didn't give up..." She said looking at the scrap across her arm "I still don't under stand why he shot me..."
Jack smiled "Good kitty..." She walked over to Portias side and watched them carfully. If he did any thing stupid he would be sure to be the first to move.
Dimitri Volkov
Dimitri tightened his grip again. "I have damn good reasons to pull the trigger. It's self defense." He snarled. He couldn't just let his enemies kill him. "I don't kill for no reason. I am not an aggressor." His eyes widened when Portia mentioned Damian. "He shot you for the same reason he killed my mother and all those other people. He's insane. Just don't talk to him. Don't give him the pleasure of knowing he's drawing you into his plans."
Portia
"Hm... So then why would you kill me?" She said quistioningly "Am I a threat to you? Don't worry I believe you I mean it was random. He must be insane..." She froze he killed his mother? "What happened to him to make him like that?"
Dimitri Volkov
Dimitri finally released his grip on Portia's arm. "I'm not going to kill you. I never was." He stated, quite annoyed that Portia was convinced he was going to kill her. "He is insane. Nothing happened to make him that way. He was always that way." He paused, thinking. Should he really tell Portia about Damian's experiments? Sure. Why not? "He ran a meatpacking plant. A big slaughterhouse. He decided he wanted to do an experiment. See how different people react to fear. He wanted to use me, his own son, as a subject. He tortured me. He killed my mother when she threatened to turn him in. But we were both too terrified of him." He had scars from those experiences. It still haunted him every night. "Now you know why to stay away from him."
Portia
Portia sighed when he finally let go of her arm. "Whats with people and hurting my arms." She mumbled "Well I won't talk to him ok." She glared at him and rubbed her arm. Jack jumped up tail waggin and toung luling out. He ran up to her and knocked her over. "I didn't go any where Jack!" She said giggling a little. She stood back up. "My names Portia. Its nice to meet you Dimitri." She held out a hand to shake.
Dimitri
Dimitri leaned back against the cliff, thinking nothing of hurting Portia's arm. At least she didn't have to have his past. At least she didn't have to deal with the Mafia from the time she was a child.
Dimitri just looked at Portia's hand, begrudgingly shook it as if he didn't give a damn - and really, he didn't give a damn. He grunted and took another drink of his vodka. He didn't say anything, though.
Portia
Portia rolled her eyes. Maybe it was time she left she whistled to Jack, and started to walk to the van.
