Min

Min strode over the domes, flicking her ears. She looked around. The ground was dull and ugly. It was nothing like Africa, and it was nothing like her perfect exhibit at the local zoo. All she wanted was a family, after her own left her. The trees were bare, and the leaves were her natural food source. She was hungry and cold. Now she wished that she was back at the zoo. They had food there, and the exhibit was specially designed for gerenuks like her. "What have I done? I had a good life, and I ran away from it!" She said to herself.

Jack

Jack came back to the domes and spotted an old friend. "Well, we meet again." He said slyly. "So you got fed up with the zoo, too? You see, I had been planning our escape for a long time. Don't you like the feeling of freedom? Or are you afraid of the predators around here?" He circled around Min intimidatingly.

Min

Min snapped at Jack. "I want nothing to do with you! You told me that I would like this place! Do I look happy to you?!" She paused and took a deep breath. "I'm sorry. It's just that--I guess I'm homesick. And I miss my family." She looked down at him with her big dark eyes, watching his every move. She knew that she was on his menu.

Jack

Jack sat down in front of Min. "Ahh...I see." He said, thinking deeply. "I can make this place worth your while, if you don't mind the cold." He trotted away, then looked back at her and said, "Follow me."

Min

Min followed him without a word, swishing her tail back and forth.
