Dusty

Breathing was labored and heavy by the time he reached the warm lands, so close to his home. He was fretting over the loss of Drac, assuming that the humans had indeed killed their son. He had not found the youngster's body, but the lack of it when mixed with the foul stench of humans meant just the same.

Unable to go further, the father collapsed on the ground, pink foam frothing from the corners of his mouth and from his nose. The bleeding had mostly stopped, but his breathing had gotten worse- especially after the long journey across the valley. Competely out of strength and struggling for every breath he took, Dusty lay without motion, aside from the rappid and heavy rise and fall of his bloodied chest.

Jessie

She too was having a difficult time, and found her muscles shivering with exhaustion and shock by the time they reached the Ashen Domes. The border of their packlands was not far away, less than a mile perhaps, but there wasn't enough energy left in her body to complete the journey. When Dusty went down, Jessie collapsed next to him, pulling her worn body close to his as she wearily licked at the wound to his chest. "Fyre is safe, at least..." She whispered, her throat constricted by saddness as she thought of their other son, who wasn't 'safe'. He was lost to them, forever. And soon, it seemed, they would be lost themselves.

Dusty

He rested his head over Jessie's neck, and was thankful at least for the heat of this land. The temperatures were dropping swiftly now, and in their condition, keeping warm was a big issue. "Yes, Night will keep him safe." Dusty replied, saying whatever he thought would help console his mate, and his own aching heart. "Maybe... maybe it's time to call the pack in..." He said after a long moment, since the humans didn't seem to be a threat now.
