Gwen & Skylit
Gwen was awakened by growling. Tall ears stood attentively and she shifted into a sitting position, holding back a yawn that wanted to roll through her. The growl sounded again, and this time her auds laced back as she realized the source of it. Her own stomach. The alphess grunted and rose fully, stretching her alabaster limbs and shaking her coat. She looked about the floor of the Aegis Den, seeing a few bodies curled up here and there, with several usual sleeping quarters vacant. Dark eyes flicked about the dark room, where shades of yellow from outside street lamps cut through the shadows of the night, offering more than enough light for her keen eyes to see.
A low bark, followed by a sharp whine that would have been inaudible to human hears, was given to rouse any Lurkers that were in the Den. Gwen was going to organize a pack hunt, at their favorite place to eat. Sheep was on the menu tonight.
Skylit was near her mother when the soft bark pulled her from her dreams. Pale blue eyes flickered open, and she yawned loud and long before ever bothering to fully stand up. The young hybrid rolled onto her side and stretched at leisure, then thumped a black tail against the ground in wordless greeting to her dam. After a moment the youngster rose and padding towards Gwen to nuzzle her. "What's up, Mom?"
Ebony & Stormchaser
The two sisters, hardly apart, were dozing in the Den when Gwen calls her pack to a hunt. Stormchaser, deaf and unable to actually hear her alphess's call, can tell based off her entrance and poise that Gwen was summoning her family for a mission. Unfortunately, Stormchaser is hardly any use in a hunting party, a fact she'd come to terms with as a young pup. Instead, she'll remain home with the others and defend the den from peril. The white wolfdog presses her nose into her sister's side to bid her farewell, Ebony already bunching her shoulders to stand.
Ebony rises to her paws, striding across the den with a little yawn. Her tail sashays eagerly as she takes a seat a few feet from Gwen, two-toned eyes glittering with eagerness. It was always a happy occasion to join her family on a hunt. "What's the plan for today, Gwen?" Ebony questions.
Gwen & Others
Another yawn silently erupts, this one coming from the jaws of Equiss. All four limbs are pressed to their limits, with even her toes flexing as she stretches out on her side, taking up enough space that she accidentally kicks Argolis. Her cousin wakes with a start, absurdly tall ears springing up as his ebony and tan-flecked head shooting from the ground. A quick glance about tells him who the culprit is, as she smiles back at him sheepishly, tail thumping in apology against the ground. "Sorry Argy. Your daughter's heading up a pack hunt." Instead of actually getting up herself, Equiss squelches a second yawn and shuffles a little closer to Stormchaser, offering her blue-eyed daughter a nuzzle in greeting before curling up beside her, fully prepared to go back to sleep.
Argolis presses to his paws and saunters after Ebony, making his way to the alphess. His own butter-bright eyes don't hold quite the flash of excitement as his friend, but there's determination in them. Perhaps a relic from his days as alpha, or perhaps he just wasn't fully woken up yet. Either way, he and Ebony both were greeted with a smile from Gwen and a tail that was just as animated as it waved side to side, albeit from a loftier position than theirs. "Sheep are the menu. It's been a while since we've visited, and I'm hungry for something other than human scraps tonight." Gwen raised her dial a little higher, eyes sweeping the Den once more. Even with the four of them, that should be plenty to take on a lone sheep, but she'd wait a moment longer in case anyone else wished to join in.
Ebony & Stormchaser
Resting her head back on her paws, Stormchaser's eyelides begin to feel heavy once more. The temperatures were comfortable at this time of year, and being seated in the sunlight was relaxing. Her eyes flutter open as Equiss maneuvers herself closer, the white wolfess reaching over to brush her nose in greeting and thumping her tail twice. Storm shifts into her mother, finding a comfortable position before her eyelids close once more.
Ebony's tail wags as Gwen speaks, her mind already wandering to the prospective hunt. While human scraps were a blessing and fed most of the pack on a good day, the thought of fresh kill brought a bit of euphoria to Ebony. "Can't wait," Ebony nearly purrs.
Honz & Zeus
Honz looks up and stretches.
Zeus too gets up and stretches. So much better and healthier now.
Gwen, Skylit, & Argolis
Honz is gifted with a lick on the muzzle and nose from his mate, and a brief, impatient nuzzle from Skylit before she squeezing past Ebony and Argolis and trotting towards the door. Gwen chuckles, surveying the small group of enthusiastic Lurkers that had joined her, and the greater number of tired, slumbering bodies curled up in various poses around them. "I think we have enough, we'll let the others rest." Quietly, she slips through the small hunting party, then minces her way past their sleeping packmates to make it outside. From there, it's a well-known travel towards the sheep pasture.
Argolis waits for the others to pass by before he steps in behind the hunting party, choosing to bring up the rear.
Ebony
The she-wolf sidesteps as Skylit squirms past, the older wolf chuckling lightly. Her ears perk at Gwen's call, following the rest of the party.
