Dixie
Dixie had been spending the last few days trying to get used to the surroundings that she would now be calling her home. She thought that the place was nice enough, and she was glad to have a home. Now, though, she was hoping to come into contact with some of the other members, maybe. After all, she was now part of a pack and she wished to make herself known to the members in this pack. She looked around for anyone who might want to chat with her.
Holly stayed a little ways away from the center of everything where Dixie was. She watched the three young canines playing.
Argolis & Others
Thus far, the change in leadership had gone... surprisingly smooth, considering who was now in charge. Argolis hadn't sought out any retaliation yet, though he had spent a lot of time actively patrolling the Lurker's turf and sending the falcons on frequent flights to observe the Nuova Alba. What hadn't smoothed out was the drama that led up to the shift in power in the alley-dwelling pack. All had watched and waited for Lyckos to return, but none had heard word of him since he sudden departure. On top of that, there was still the fresh sorrow of losing Taros and Kane, who would never be coming back.
The brindled wolfdog had returned from one of his more recent patrols of the streets, and rather than find a spot to nap away during the late evening, he sauntered towards Dixie, "I hope you're all settling in well?" He hadn't spent much time getting to know the small group that he'd let into the pack, and since the imminent threat of a Nuova attack was seeming less likely, he could focus his attention on other matters - such as properly learning about Dixie and her friends.
Most of the pack was lounging in the old factory at this time, waiting until dusk before they'd become more active - traveling out in the streets during the day was often more dangerous with the humans. Bullet was one of those who was in the Den, stretched out on his side and laying in a ray of sun that was shining in through one of the windows above. Perched on a box a foot away from the hybrid was Freefall, one of the falcons that inhabited the building with the canine pack, and he was busy preening his feathers; until he noticed Holly. "You're Holly, right?"
Dixie
Dixie had been observing the area when one of the few canines that was somewhat familiar to her came into sight. Sure, his scent had been caught before the sight of him, but just by scent she did not know whether he was approaching her for sure. She only knew that his scent had been growing stronger which just meant he was coming closer. Then when he had been spotted she determined that he was coming her way. She wagged her tail in a friendly manner and dipped her head in greeting to him as he reached her. Yes, I think we are all settling in quite nicely. This was the first time any of them had really been in a formal pack, Holly and Dixie had always been more of loners though they had been friends for a while now. She lowered her rear end to sit down in front of her leader, comfortable around him.
Holly had been laying just within the door way of the building, watching the three young canines playing. She payed little to no mind to all of the canines and birds that were also in the building. Then she heard one of the birds speak to her, speaking her name and asking if that was indeed who she was. She nodded and looked up to the hawk. Do I know you?
Argolis & Others
There was confidence in his feral eyes as he watched Dixie with a fixed stare. Some in the pack found it unnerving, and indeed he often used the dominant stare to warn others that he wasn't to be trifled with; but this time, Argolis's tactless stare at Dixie wasn't meant to be challenging. He was merely interested in getting to know her, and didn't always take account of his more subtle actions. "You don't mind living this close with humans?" He asked casually when she sat down before him, looking as comfortable and relaxed in his presence as those that had known him his entire life. The confidence intrigued him. "I want to make sure you understand what our pack is about, and what to expect in it."
"My name is Freefall - now you know me!" The falcon chirruped, and hopped down from the box. He waddled across the ground towards Holly, oblivious to the threat such a large predator could potentially be to a small raptor like himself. "Are those puppies yours? You keep watching them."
Dixie
Dixie was pretty comfortable with her new alpha, after all, he had offered them a home in their time of need and had provided them with food when they had needed it. She had to admit, though, that the stare he kept on her was a little unnerving, she just shrugged it off the best she could. He then spoke, asking if she minded living so close to humans and she replied. I do not mind, as long as they keep their distance. She spoke truthfully, she might mind if one got too close or tried to harm her but she did not mind just them being around. The male then spoke once more, saying he wished to tell her what their pack was about and what to expect in it and she nodded. I am listening. It was a simple enough reply that told him that she was ready to hear what he had to say.
Holly looked to the bird as it hopped down to the ground where she lay. The bird spoke to her, introducing himself and saying that now she did know him and she nodded her head. Yes, I guess I do. She had no intentions of harming this bird and it showed as she did not try to move to attack. She did wonder how he had known her name, though. She did not ask... Then Freefall asked her if the pups belonged to her and she replied. Just one, the others were left alone and found us... They have been with us ever since. Sure, the other two more wolven looking pups had become like her own pups after so long, but still Guess was her only real pup.
Argolis & Others
Learning how to live along side humans was a tricky business for any feral canine, and a skill that the Lurkers had honed to a fine point. He was happy to hear that she didn't mind them, and even happier to know that she wanted a distance kept between them and her. "That's the general view our pack has on them. To avoid trouble, we avoid crossing paths when we can, and never attack them unless it is in defense of yourself or another pack member." Argolis' attention briefly flickered to Skeil, who was walking by to head outside, and then back to Dixie. "Times have been relatively quiet for us in the last year or two, know that we have powerful allies and enemies alike in in the wild lands, and tension is building again. I need to know if you and your friends are ready and willing to fight with us, should we go to battle."
Freefall didn't think to offer a reason for knowing her name, though the longer Holly stayed in the pack, the more she'd come to understand that these falcons - at least most of them - were very detailed in their knowledge of individuals. Wherever he'd gotten her name, either from Argolis or someone else, it stuck fast in his mind. "Orphans huh? Well it's always nice to have little pups around, as long as they don't chew on you. Or slobber too much."
Dixie
Dixie nodded as Argolis filled her in on the pack's view on humans. She had much the same views as she had told him. She would not attack the humans unless they threatened her or a friend. If they did that, though, then she would not turn her back. That is, unless it seemed more logical to run. Though, she would never lead them back to her home. She had grown up on the busy streets around humans and knew how to react with them. She followed the male's gaze as it was adverted from her and to the Pit Bull that she had met earlier. Then she looked back ot Argolis as he spoke to her once more. He spoke of tension that was growing between their own pack and others and she once again nodded. You have taken us in when we needed help, of course we will stand beside you in battle if one comes.
Holly continued to look to the falcon as it stood not far from her. He spoke of the pups being orphans and she nodded her big black head. Then she had to laugh as he went on to explain why it would not be nice to have the pups around. Well, I will make sure they don't chew on you, I can't help you with the slobbering, though. Her tones were warm and held laughter in them as her tail wagged slightly.
Argolis & Others
Dixie had been nothing but polite and accepting so far, and that didn't change when he introduced the idea of fighting to her. She responded without delay to affirm her dedication to the Lurkers. It brought a little note of pride to Argolis and a slight grin the lifted the side of his muzzle, "That's all I ask for." With pups to look after, he didn't necessarily expect both of them to be front-line fighters, but it was good to know that Dixie could be counted on for support if it came down to it. "Once you and your friends have settled in better, I will lead the pack to meet with our allies and discuss the future of the Lurkers. And for tonight, when dusk hits, we will be hunting in the wild lands."
"After a while, I guess you get use to the slobbering... well, that's what my sister says anyway, but I still can't stand it!" Freefall exclaimed and flapped his wings to emphasize his disgust with it. He wasn't meaning to complain, so much as he was trying to carry on a conversation however. "It is fun playing hide and seek with them! Pups are good at hiding, and I'm great at seeking."
Dixie
Yes, polite and accepting could be ways that you could describe Dixie. Though, she could also be fierce if someone tried to harm her friends. She had a very protective nature that meant that she would defend those who she had associated herself with. So, her new pack was no different. She noted the grin on his features as she told him that she would fight with the pack if the need arose and this brought a slight smile to her own muzzle as well. He then spoke of going to meet their allies once she and her friends had gotten used to the place better. She nodded. She was glad to be able to be part of the pack and not to be treated like a new comer who was not in on anything. A lot of packs only trusted one after they had been with the pack for a very long time. He also spoke of hunting at dusk and she nodded once more. I will be there for sure for the hunt, Holly will probably stay back with the young ones if that is ok with you, though. She had a great deal of confidence as she spoke, she was not one to be shy or meek. Though, if their alpha did not agree to Holly staying behind then they would just have to leave the pups behind if he deemed it safe.
Holly laughed once more at this bird, he was quite a character, really. He made it apparent just how much he still hated the slobbering by ruffling his feathers and that caused Holly to laugh a bit more. She was a very friendly creature despite her large size, really. As her laughter had stopped the bird spoke of it being fun to play hide and seek with the pups and she nodded. Yes, they can be very fun to have around, and I'm sure they would love to play hide and seek sometime. As of right now they were a good ways away just within sight playing rather roughly and not paying a bit of mind to her or anyone else.
Orelia
While many of the Lurkers had been busy, or at least otherwise preoccupied to not notice her, Orelia had subtly left the den to try and take her mind of the losses they had recently suffered. On her travels through the alleys she had come across a lone she-wolf, and - noticing the other was hungry and tired, as well as non-violent - she had offered to bring her to the den to ask Argolis if she could join the Lurkers, and that was exactly what she was currently doing.
Elderly and injured meant Orelia's pace was slow, but as they arrived at the den she made short work of picking her grandson out from the group. "Argolis," she called, approaching him, but glancing back to make sure Rexina was following, "I have a visitor who would like to speak to you." Then she stepped aside to allow Rexina to speak to the alpha.
Rexina
Following Orelia, Rexina alertly took in her surroundings, keeping her head low, her ears partly laid back and her tail down. She easily kept Orelia's pace, and stopped where she did. When Orelia stepped aside, Rexina stepped a bit forward, carefully and casualy.
"Hello there. Orelia tells me you lead this pack?"
Her eyes quickly scans the area, lingering a bit on a female who seemed to be conversating with prey. She quickly looks back to this Argolis, but does not look in his eyes. Her gray and white body is still in submissive mode, and she's prepared to run for it. Better run in Orelia's direction, she's injured and elderly, probably not able to keep up if Rexina needs to escape.
Argolis & Others
So far so good, Argolis thought of this talk. Though he still needed to speak with Holly and get a better feel for her personality and what value she held to the pack, he was satisfied that Dixie was shaping up to be a great new member for the Lurkers. "Holly can stay back with the pups, along with a few others. Most of our falcons will remain here as well for security." Of course at dusk, the day-time hunting falcons couldn't exactly rely on their vision all that well, but with all the street lights around, they were still better sentries than the eyes of any canine. Before he could continue on with Dixie, Argolis turned an ear to the approach of his grandmother, and a split second later, turned his head the same way when he smelled a stranger. Immediately and instinctively, the brindle wolf-dog lifted his head and tail high and let his ruff prickle up. Though he was already a large canine at 130 pounds, thanks in large part to his father's great dane blood, he looked even more impressive with his hackles held high, "Yes, my name is Argolis." He responded promptly, with his bright yellow eyes locked unblinkingly on Rexina. Because she came in escorted by his grandmother, he didn't see the need to attack, but his posturing and cautious, authorative voice clearly stated that he expected her submission while in his presence. "Who are you?"
"Do you think I can play with them today later? Just the hide and seek stuff of course, not the, er..." Freefall stretched his neck upwards to try and get a better view of the pups, "...wrestling." He turned from looking at the pups to looking at Holly again, "What are their names? I've heard yours, but the pups, I haven't caught theirs yet!"
Dixie
Dixie nodded when she heard Argolis' words. She knew that Holly was not much of a fighter, if the need arose then she would protect herself and her pack but she was more of the motherly type who would rather care for the pups and help keep relationships with their allies strong. Though, that did not mean that her friend would not fight with them if she was needed, but muscle was needed at the pack lands as well if there were to be an attack on the young ones while most of the pack was away. She did not have a chance to speak before the sound of another approaching was heard. She sniffed the air and she could smell one scent that had been here for some time and also a new scent. She immediately stood as Argolis did and her fur bristled, though she did not growl or act aggressively, she just stood ready for anything. Being in such a small group roaming the streets for so long made one rather jumpy. She made no movements nor did she speak as her leader spoke with this new canine.
Holly continued to smile to the bird as he asked if it would be ok if he played with the pups later and her big head was nodded once more. Yes, I am sure they would love to have someone to play with. The pups were only having each other to play with, so they would enjoy a new play mate. The bird then turned back to her and spoke again, asking the names of the pups and she replied. The one with three legs is my son, Guess. The other male is Dagda and the only female is Asrai. She described each of the pups so that he would know exactly which was which.
Rexina
Well, this one certainly didn't seem as friendly as his grandmother, though she better understood his way than Orelia's. Her body still in submissive mode, which was a must when expecting to survive entering other's lands, she kept her eyes down, not looking in his eyes, more like looking at his chest, or that area.
"I'm Rexina, and I was hoping to your your pack."
Sure, he hadn't asked what she was doing there, but obviously he would want to know. He could most likely guess it, but there was also other things he could think she was there for. She'd rather not have him getting the wrong idea, she wasn't there to kill the cubs or anything, and she'd rather not be treated like it. She tried to make herself smaller, more non-threatening. If she hadn't been invited by Orelia, she might have laid down and shown her belly. In fact, if he would continue being hostile, she might do it anyway.
Argolis & Others
A side-glance told him that Dixie really meant it when she said she would fight for the pack when need be. Already she was bristling up and silently declaring her loyalty to the Lurkers, something that pleased Argolis immensely, and earned her more respect from the new leader. On the other side of things, Rexina was reacting as he expected, with submission and a careful deflection of her gaze towards his chest, rather than his eyes. "Join the Lurkers?" Well well, this was good news to him; after suffering at the fangs of their new enemies, the pack could use every new canine it could get, and a pure-blooded wolf would be a perfect addition to the mix-breed group. "If you are prepared to fight for the pack, follow our rules about the two-leggers, and respect our allies, you are welcome to join us." His brindle-brown fur relaxed just a smidgen, not lowering down completely, but easing up so that he didn't look quite so threatening. "What happened to your ear?" This latter question came up when his gaze fell on her left ear, noticing how it was missing.
"Did a bear bite his leg off?" Freefall asked innocently about Guess, not knowing that it was a birth defect. And like Argolis, he was being perhaps a little tactless in outright asking questions that might otherwise be personal. "Or did a car take it off? Bullet is always telling me how dangerous the cars are, and that he knows this one dog who lives further in town who only has three legs. One got smashed so bad by a car that the humans had to cut it off!"
Dixie
Dixie saw the side glancing that Argolis did, or at least that is what she thought he had done. She could have been just wishfully thinking, though. She did not think she was. This was a good sign for her, she had thought that her alpha might be upset with her for jumping in defense without his order to do so. But, she would defend her pack and her alpha if the need arose without having to be asked to do so. As she watched the wolf submit more she remained bristled and stood nearly beside Argolis, just hanging back slightly to show that she knew he was in charge. So, now she just waited to see if the wolf would react favorably and if anyone would draw their attention back to her.
Holly had to laugh a bit at the falcon's question. Many might have been offended by the remarks that he was making, but she was a pretty easy going type. Now, if the falcon was purposely making fun of the pup then she might be a bit more hostile, but he was just asking a simple question, she knew it was not often that a dog with missing limb lived away from humans. The falcon went on speaking before she could reply and when he mentioned Bullet the name sounded familiar... She could not place where it was familiar from, but if she saw this Bullet again then she would definitely be able to remember him. Oh my, that is terrible! But Guess was born missing a leg. She was not sure why, unless it was because she had been on her own without enough nutrition.
Rexina
Rexina spared Dixie no more than a glance, wouldn't want Argolis to think she wrote him off as nonthreatening, or something along that line. Leaders usually don't like that you do that, or think their packmembers are more dangerous than them. Argolis was her main concern, after all. Accidentaly offend the leader and you could find yourself lacking body parts..
"As long as you don't include taking care of a two-legged in those rules, I'm ready to do what it takes."
Really, she didn't mind the two-leggeds, as lunch if nothing else was available. She'd rather not have anything whatsoever to do with them. Filthy beasts, that's what they are. Her eyes shifted quickly to the bird, then back, as Argolis spoke of allies. Was that what the bird was? Anyway, sure, she would respect the allies, if it kept her in a pack instead of alone.
Memories of claws and jagged teeth flashed her mind as he asked about her ear.
Wasn't he a curious one? "
I lost it in a fight as a pup"
Feeling no need to give more details about that humiliating event, she let her words hang in the air, hoping he'd take the not so subtle hint and leave it at that. He had to see he had the upper hand already, and hopefully he wouldn't be one to take offense at the short reply or press on for more details. She'd give them if he did, but she rather keep that to herself.
Argolis & Others
The wolfdog's brindle and black lips wrinkled back a little in an amused grin, "Humans are an annoyance at best, and certainly not in need of our care." That pretty well summed it up and answered the wolf as far as the pack's stance on the two-leggers stood. They definitely weren't friendly with them, but on that note, he continued, just to make sure things were clarified for her, "We tolerate them however, and give them leeway where we can. The only time you are allowed to attack one is if it's in self defense, or the defense of another packmate and there's no other option left to you." The reason for the rules were simple enough - if the pack showed too much aggression towards the humans, they would almost certainly be hunted down and destroyed. And for a pack that lived in the human's city, there was no where to hide from them, so they were forced to play nice.
Still watching her with his slightly unnerving eyes, he noticed her gaze flash back to Freefall, one of their resident peregrine falcons. Because it was an unusual alliance by the standards of most canines, he saw it fit to explain, "That's Freefall, if you're curious. He and most of his family live here in this building, and are part of the pack. They have great eyes for hunting, and for monitoring humans and potential enemies that come too close to our den. They're to be treated with the same respect as anyone else in this pack." With that issue taken care of, he was brought to the topic of her ear; if only his sister were close enough to hear, she might have chastised him for bringing up such a potentially personal subject. "Better to lose part of an ear than to lose your life. Scars are a good thing around here - shows our enemies that were seasoned fighters." Fortunately, he didn't pry any deeper into that issue, and possibly to Rexina's relief, his intense stare let him, and his hackles came down completely. "Well then Rexina, the pack is setting out to hunt in a few hours. Take your time to get to know the others if you wish, and ask any questions you might have."
Freefall's eyes were still obnoxiously large in wonder as he thought about Guess' missing leg. Of course to him, a missing limb was quite a big deal, since he only had two legs to stand on as it was. "Oooooh, he was born like that?" And of course, the young raptor didn't mean any harm or to say anything in a cruel manner, but he was an intensely curious little bird who couldn't help but ask questions. "It looks like he can still get around pretty good with three legs! That's good for him. I bet it'll make his other leg even stronger!"
Rexina
Well, that's good. She wouldn't have to play guarddog for any humans, she could continue to avoid the buggers. Though she beg to differ on wheter or not the two-leggeds was in need of canine care.. Obviously they were, why else would they have caretakers? Personally, she'd never even consider becoming a pet and care for the monsters, but each to their own..
The bird wasn't food, that was a bit disapointing, but she could live with it. To treat it with the same respect might be difficult, how does one talk to food? She decided to just stay clear of the bird for the time being, abd observe the other's interactions with it. She couldn't understand how the female conversing with it could feel so secure in having the bird that close to the pups. It was staring at them, how could she know it didn't plan to attack them? Flesh-eating prey could do that, she knew. Go after the hunters when they're young, as it meant food for the moment and fewer to worry about in the long run. Curious bunch, this.
She left the comments about her ear and fighting slip, she didn't have anything to add to that, really, and didn't wish to drag the subject on longer than necessary. She really did not want anyone to know more about her ear.. She saw him relax, but she did not do so. She kept her body as it was, except that she sat herself down too. A little mimicry to show respect, with the already subdued bodylanguage, made for a nice show of acceptance and obediance.
Oh, a hunt. Now we're talking! In a few hours, might as well just sit and observe until then. She wondered idly if the female by the bird was the mate of Argolis, but decided not to voice that question. Better see it for oneself, this pack should have some interesting hierachy.
"I've no questions for now."
Dixie
Dixie was not about to interrupt so, she just stood by as she waited for the other to be finished speaking to Argolis. When the other said she had no questions and both had sat down, she rigidly allowed herself to sit as well. She was not sure if Argolis would still want to speak with her or not, but she would wait just in case.
Holly nodded as the little bird asked if Guess had been born without one leg once again. She knew that this could be surprising to many so she was not annoyed by his questioning. Yes, he gets around just like any pup with four legs. In truth, she did not think that he would be any better off with his other leg.
Argolis & Others
Argolis was satisfied that the main issues had been covered, and that Rexina and Dixie alike had easily agreed to the terms of living in this pack. The day would surely come when they were tested on their word - probably sooner than later, if Argolis had any say in it - but for now, the new females could relax and integrate into the pack. "If any questions come to you, Ninaki is our beta." Argolis nodded his black and brown muzzle to a elderly-looking canine snoozing beneath a rusted stairwell. For a beta, the small wolfdog looked pitifully skinny and weakened, but because he was such a wise and well respected member, and no one had yet challenged his position, he retained his prestigious title. "He can answer them better than most." Once he'd spoken that to Rexina, he turned away from her, signifying that she was free to get up and roam about as she pleased. It was Dixie that he wanted to talk to now, "About our hunt this evening, I've a few questions for you." The alpha's critical stare was no longer there; his bright eyes were more curious than they were authorative, since he felt no further need to state his dominance with her right now. "What experience do you have hunting in the wild lands?"
Freefall lifted one of his legs up experimentally, trying to balance on the other to get an idea of how it must be like. Almost immediately, the falcon lost his balance and had to spread one wing out to the side to catch himself, "Woah!" Freefall shook his head and put his other foot down quickly, black talons clacking against the cement ground. "I guess he's better at it than me..."
Dixie
Dixie was glad to say the least when the alpha's attention was turned back to her, not that she did not wish for the other to join in their conversation but she had just been tiring of just standing around without being acknowledged. She had not let this be known, though. When Argolis spoke to her she replied without a hint of hesitation. We have taken down small prey, but being just Holly and myself, we have not even attempted large prey. She had not a problem hunting and she could easily improvise or follow orders, whatever she had to do. She was no stranger to hunting, just to large game.
Holly watched the falcon with a laugh as he teetered around on one leg, trying to see how difficult it must be for Guess. But he truly would have it much worse with just one leg than Guess did with three. Yes, he has had a lot more practice. After this, the three pups bounced over to Holly. Mom, who is that? It was Guess who spoke about the bird. They were not used to the animals, so they kept their distance...
Rexina
Sensing dismissal, Rexina went to sit a bit away from the others, only to let them have their privacy, not to solidate herself. She decided to watch the pups, pups could usually be depended on to amuse one when nothing else could.
Argolis & Others
He could read her hesitation on that question, and thus knew before she even replied that she likely didn't have experience hunting anything terribly large. The fact that the two adults were so thin and malnourished when they came to the pack suggested as much, and yet this didn't bother Argolis too much. After all, they were an alley-dwelling pack that was use to scrounging around for human scraps, roadkill, and other easy food sources unwittingly supplied by the two-leggers. As long as she knew how to do that at least, she fit in - hunting large game was a skill that he didn't mind teaching her and Holly. "I'd rather have you watch and learn than get maimed or killed doing something you aren't familiar with. Once we've gotten the prey on the ground, you can help with the final kill." Here the new alpha showed a bit more maturity with his role; rather than getting frustrated as he might have done in earlier times, or ordered Dixie into the heart of the ambush and attack, he elected instead for a safer role for the boxer. Besides, they had plenty of able-bodied adults in the pack as it was, so it would be a good way for her to learn the art of hunting big game without the risk of getting gored or trampled on her first day.
"Hiya, I'm Freefall!" The falcon chirruped, gleefully introducing himself, even if Guess had presented the question to his mother instead. "Your mom said we can play games later. Or we can play them now, if you want?" The young raptor was too eager for his own good, and bombarding the poor pup with words when Guess was still uncertain of him.
Orchilla was one of the first to get up and approach Rexina after the newcomer seated herself away from the pack. "Excuse me," She murmured in a friendly tone as she padded towards the wolf. Her ebony colored head, matching her similarly colored paws, was held at shoulder length. The rest of her body was a smooth gray color, and the language it carried was unassuming and friendly as she tried to get to know her new packmate. "I overheard the others talking, but I didn't catch your name? I'm Orchila, daughter of Aurinka and Desmon."
Rexina
Rexina looked at Orchilla and decided she seemed friendly enough.
"I'm Rexina. You been here long?"
There, conversation wasn't so hard, was it? She hadn't really known what to talk about, and settled on what she thought was a safe subject. Maybe weather would have been a better subject, but done was done. She still sat, her body casual, but she didn't look into the other's eyes. Being new, she felt it was safer to be at least a little submissive to the lot.
Dixie
Dixie listened to what her leader had to say and she nodded at this. She would not have hesitated to join in the hunt if she had been asked to, without worrying about her own safety. She was one to do what her leader asked her to without really asking many questions. And since he had asked her just to stand back and watch then that was what she would do. After all, she knew that she had not hunted anything larger than rats, rabbits, and cats. But she had been more like a scavenger. It was nearly impossible for two dogs to take down large game any way, so they had not even attempted to do so. Then I will go along and watch. She told him that she would do as he wished. She would not go against what the alpha told her to do if she could help it.
Guess heard what the bird said, telling them his name and then when he mentioned playing, all apprehension that he had about the bird went out the window. If he was dangerous then he would not ask to play with them. So, his tail wagged fiercely now as he spoke. Do you wanna play now? The pups always looked forward to new playmates and all three were ready for a game.
Argolis & Others
He hadn't expected her to argue about it, but he was pleased nonetheless when she easily agreed to the terms. Besides, she would play an important role at the end, in not only helping to kill whatever creature they managed to bring down, but she would be one more pair of jaws to help carry meat back to the Den for the others. "I need to find Skeil now; feel free to mingle with the others or do as you please, so long as you're nearby the Den once dusk approaches." There was something lighter in the male's voice this time, as he sounded more like he was talking to a good friend than a new subordinate. He couldn't quite put his paw on it... but he liked this boxer.
Orchila smiled, with her blue eyes glinting in a friendly way. "I was born here, actually. This will be my third winter." What she didn't mention were the three siblings of hers who had died this year, falling victim to a devastating illness that wiped out many in the Valley, and left the survivors wondering if it would strike again next spring. But that was neither here nor there, and Orchila didn't wish to turn the conversation down a sad road. "Where do you come from?"
"Yeah, of course!" Freefall shrilled with excitement and bobbed his head up and down. He hopped closer to Guess and the other pups, "What do you guys want to play? Hide and seek is a really fun one that my brothers and I play a lot. There's chase too... but, you guys can't fly, so that would be kinda hard to do." The little raptor was up for anything, with the only issue being that they had to find a game that both species could play easily.
Rexina
Rexina looked casualy on Orchila, she wouldn't have thought she was twice the other's age.. Well, not that it mattered, really.
"I'm from a place called Death's Valley."
Well, plenty of sad stories there, the place's not exactly full of butterflies and sunflowers.
"If you find yourself there someday, turn the way you came and run as fast as you can."
Oh, a little friendly advice, how nice. She hadn't actually thought to say that, it just came out of her mouth, hopefully Orchila wouldn't take offence.
