Lyckos & Others

Complete silence. Lyckos hadn't said a word for the whole journey from Pike's lake to the alleys. Camden had tried to get his father to talk, but had failed. He had given up, instead travelling with his uncle, leaving Lyckos to grieve alone.

Any other time, the sight of the Aegis Den would have made a wave of happiness wash over the hybrid, but today Lyckos approached it with such a heavy heart he didn't know if he'd ever be happy again. If anything, the building made the reality of the fight sink in, the horror of the battle pierce his heart like a blade.

She was gone.

Lyckos solumly walked to the middle of the room, turning to face the incoming flow of Lurkers, as well as any allies that had decided to join them. His eyes were soulless, the grief he felt swallowing all emotions. He was alone. He would have to tell this pack, her family, that Hydras was no longer with them. The tears that should have flowed never came, the anger, the sadness, nothing seemed to be able to escape him.

Kalion, with Camden in tow, sat down before Lyckos. Camden's eyes brimmed with tears, Quake wasn't coming home. He had no idea that his mother wasn't either. Kalion watched his brother, noticed the face devoid of emotion, and immdiately knew something was wrong.

Riven, supporting his sobbing sister, was next to arrive. He guided her to the back, and Illiya sank to the ground. Lasota, their mother, had lost her life.

Karitania entered, her eyes searching for her pack, but only found three left standing. Domnio, Xina and Vandras were the only survivors from the Ribellarsi Pack. The alphess refused to break down, but tears did spill from her eyes as she joined her pack mates.

Zina

The Osprey followed the grieving pack to their home and perched on a rail. She looked down at Lyckos with a grin. "I hope you have learned a lesson about karma. What goes around, comes around. You exiled my leader's half-sister and mother from the only place they found safety, after they ran from the Haunters, your enemies. And what did they do to you? Nothing. Until now, of course, when your mate had to be punished for her bigotry. I hope you aren't ignorant enough to learn from your mistakes, Lyckos." She said with an evil snicker. "Goodbye, poor fools! I'll see you when I see you!" With that, she flew away.

Bullet & Others

Traveling side-by-side, Argolis was limping heavily and leaning almost his full weight on Lerna. The siblings made it not three feet into the den before the brindle brother collapsed panting on the ground, his eyes half-lidded and his heartrate shallow. Lerna nuzzled the hybrid, standing beside him wordlessly as she looked over the survivors. Her heart twisted when she failed to see Quake or Hydras, or a good deal of their cousins.

Helping his father, Pistol eased down to the ground next to Argolis, letting a fading Narsinia rest beside him. Bullet was stricken beyond words as well, having seen one daughter fall in the battle, and smelling the scent of death on Narsinia's breath. The flames had burned her flesh terribly, adding to what damage she had already sustained in the battle itself. His own hide was scorched and marred, but this pain was nothing close to what he felt in his heart right now.

Pirqua sailed in and settled near Lyckos, "It is not an easy day." Her weathered voice sounded almost distant as she spoke, and slightly choked with emotion that she struggled to keep down, "Let not their deaths go in vain, Lyckos; you must be brave for the rest of your family. This battle is far from over, and before the night is over..." The falcon looked briefly to the wounded, teary-eyed comrades clustered in the den, "...they will need all the encouragement and hope you can give them. I am by your side, always."

Suffering heavy lossess, Quiadah led his decimated numbers into the Aegis Den with his allies, and approached Lyckos, "If it is alright with you, I would like for my pack to camp out here for the night."

Off to the corner, Ninaki dragged himself into the shadows and curled up, not bother to nurse the wounds that ravaged his body. He had lost one of his best friends tonight, and there was nothing that would ever heal that.

Temptation

The Haunter spy was next to come in, her act could not have been better even if she were really with the pack. Trembling, her eyes down with emptiness. She didn't know the pack, but the look of pain and sorrow for them was clear in both her body and eyes. "L-Lycos..." She made to move near the leader... the new lone leader. But she feared it was too soon to try and get close to the male. She had not been accepted into the pack, but she fought by their side. Her body was begining to cake her blood from the wounds Ghoul had given her.

She moved awaye and then looked to Ninaki who wasn't cleaning his wounds. Her heart sank as she looked around for the familiar face of Bullet, who was in tears. "B-B-Bullet... What can I- What do I do?" Her eyes teared as she tried to swallow pain. "I want to know how to help, how to comfort this pack... I- I don't" She grew silent... Oh so silent.

Bullet & Others

Huddled against his fading daughter, Bullet turned to look in Temptation's directon. The big teddy bear eyes were devoid of their usual shine, and instead marred with the unbearable torment and grief of a stricken father. "I w-want them b-back!" He whispered in a hoarse, choked voice that was nearly overtaken by rivetting sobs. Bullet wanted to be strong for his family, and be the optimistic spirit that he so often was; but this had simply been too much. His last sister had been taken from him, and Narsinia would be joining her before the morning came. Already, he could hear her breath faltering and dying down, so faint that he had to strain to detect it at all.

Making her way through the bloodied ranks, limped stiffly towards Lyckos, dipping her head in solemn resect for the alpha, "Lyckos, I have spoken with Owl and Ankh, and they have agreed - if you wish for it - to remain at the Den until things are more settled." She glanced briefly to Quaidah before going on, "Fyre and Scaria also wish to remain here for a while longer; they have lost all of their offspring save for Violet, and she is not looking well. If anything, we have agreed that it would be best to at least provide shelter and care for all of the wounded for the time being."

Patch

Patch lead Tahti and Aurinka in, looking at Lyckos. Hydras was dead, huh? "I brought someone to see Desmon." Patch announced, scanning, also, to find his mate as well. "They do not wish to start trouble."

Tahti; Aurinka

Tahti walked in and set Aurinka down. Tahti had not learned of Hydras' supposed death.

aurinka immediately looked around for Desmon. Seeing the wounded, her maternal instincts kicked in. "Mama, can you go to the human lands and find some aloe, hypericum and honey for me?" She only knew a bit about healing, but she figured this would work.

Tahti nodded and looked at Patch. "I trust that you will not let anything happen to my daughter." The coyote said before moving out.

Patch

Patch nodded briefly. "I won't," Patch promised, turning to face his pack mates. Patch stood close to Aurinka, but not in her comfort zone. He saw his battlescarred packmates, heart twisting at the sight. He should've been there! He could've stopped Suenga! But no...

Lyckos & Camden

The bird's gloating seemed to have no effect on the alpha, as he watched his pack and allies filtered into the den.

I offered that bitch sanctuary, and she threw it in my face. I should be the one lying in the grass in Hydras' stead. I'm left to pick up the pieces of a broken pack. Alone. The Haunters, their allies - they can all fuck themselves. I've given up negotiating, given up caring. They will pay, once and for all. Indeed, what goes around, comes around. You took my mate and son from me, so I will take from you those you hold most dear, and crush you.

A cry from Camden brought the hybrid from his thoughts, and he watched his son run to his fallen brothers side. Whining, Camden began to nuzzle Argolis, nudging him while he fought back tears. "No, no Argolis. Stay with me, don't give up." Wide eyes were turned back to his father, searching for some sort of aid. "Dad, please!" Lyckos' eyes scanned over his remaining children, his heart wringing uncomfortably in his chest. There were too many casualties here to take to the Woodland Farm, and not enough able-bodied soldiers to carry them. Lyckos was at a loss for what to do, for he had never been the sole-decision maker before. He'd always had Hydras to rely on, to fall back on, but no longer. Hydras...

Biting back his tears, Lyckos couldn't meet Pirqua's eyes as he listened, fighting an internal battle between joining the family's around him to mourn, or taking charge as he knew he should. Her promised loyalty to him made a single tear flow from his eye, for now it was his decisions that would either lead the Lurkers to victory, or defeat. "Thank you, Pirqua. You have no idea how much that means to me...at a time like this."

It was Quiadah that settled the internal fight, and Lyckos looked at him with a solemn expression. ”Of course. Stay for as long as you need. I will not turn my back on Lurker blood.”

Lyckos excused himself with a small nod, his attention now on his own blood. For now he was not only the solo alpha, but the solo parent to his offspring. It had become painfully obvious to Camden that his mother wasn’t coming home, and he stood beside his sister, resting his muzzled against her neck as tears spilled from his eyes. Lyckos approached Lerna, licking her gently on the muzzle, and nuzzling his son’s shoulder. Then, he looked down at Argolis. He didn’t know what to do for his son, or any of the other wounded family members or allies around him. Finally, calmly, he licked his son on the cheek. ”He’s home now, Camden. That’s the best we can do right now.”

Straightening up, Lyckos walked to the centre of the room, a sombre look on his face as he addressed the gathered canines in the Aegis Den.

”Today is a grim day for us all. Both Shadow Lurker and allies alike have lost many in today’s battle. While we have suffered our heaviest loss yet, take heart in the fact that they are no longer suffering in this cruel world, and died fighting for a cause they believed in. They fell protecting their home, their families. They died fighting for us, and with this in mind we should remember them, and carry on this noble cause in their name. Lurkers, I cannot promise you that everything will be okay, I cannot swear to you that we will stand a better chance at taking down the Haunters, but what I can promise is that we will keep fighting for every single one of our family who died today. I promise you that I will do everything within my power to try and heal your wounds and bring this defeat round to our advantage. I promise you that I will not let you down."

His throat now threatened to close up, his eyes prickled with tears that wanted to be spilt, but he held them back soldiering on as he attempted to rally the broken pack.

"Hydras passed on, at the jaws of Suenga. She fought valiantly until the end, and she fought for all of you gathered here. She died fighting for what she believed in. She was strong, courageous, brave and clever, and was the best mate I could ever have wished for. She led the Lurkers to great victories, secured us the home in which we stand now, and made this pack what it is today. I only hope I can led you half as well as she could, because I could never replace her, but with all of you by my side, I'm willing to give it a damn good try."

Unable to carry on, at least not right now, Lyckos considered keeping all the allies together for tonight at least. It would be better for the families to mourn together, to heal together, and leave when they felt it would be best. He nodded, lifting his head once more to address the gathered forces. ”Any who wish to stay may do so, for as long as they wish. Family is important at a time like this.”

Unfortunately, Lyckos then spotted Patch leading two of the traitors back into the den. Into the den where his pack and allies lay mourning and injured. The snarl that bellowed from his throat was terrible, as he bounded forward to block off any route further into the den. Jaws parted, eyes ablaze, Lyckos glared down at Aurinka like a deranged beast. ”GET OUT NOW!”

Bullet & Others

For the past six years, she had always been the shadow of the Lurker Queen. But now, the falcon would be gliding over the statuesque frame of Lyckos, his guiding wings for as long as he was living. Pirqua had remained on the floor at first, listening quietly to the needed speech while the others had turned their ears and eyes to their leader and listened as well.

Lerna buried her muzzle into her brother's fur when he came towards her, but she managed to adopt a more level voice than her uncle had as she spoke softly, "I don't know how this night will end, brother, but we have each other at least. Quake and Mother... we won't forget them, ever." Lifting her chocolately muzzle, she returned a caress to her father's muzzle, trying her best to reign a brave look on her face.

Argolis groaned quietly on the floor, in a whirlwind of pain and delirium. His brindle face was a mess of cuts and washed with crimson, while his front leg was broken high along the humorus. But it was the poisons that had him worst, and it was this that he was fighting against the hardest.

When the traitor returned, Ninaki struggled to his ragged legs, hobbling forward with his tail cricked and chipped fangs bared gruesomely. Standing at his leader's side, the beta sported a trembling snarl, "You have the guile to come crawling back here, after what you put us through?!?" The small, wiry hybrid was livid, "My best friend is dead, no thanks to your coniving actions!" His sore muscles were quivering with fury, but there were two things that held him back from attacking. First and foremost, it was up to Lyckos on the next course of action. And secondly, he knew Desmon had a soft spot for the coyodog.

Desmon and Honthale were perched together with the rest of their family, one of the few that hadn't suffered any direct losses in the battle, as far as siblings and parents went. When he saw Aurinka, his heart lifted a little, but was promptly dropped when he realized what her appearance would undoubtly bring. His ears laced back at Ninaki's harsh words; for as long as he had known the beta, the silent hybrid very rarely spoke at all, and to hear him rant like this... it was frightening. "Aurinka..." He wanted desperately to join Patch in comforting the sickly friend, but there was no way he could oppose his stricken family at a time like this.

Patch & Pups

Patch looked at Aurinka, knowing he couldn't let her stay much longer. "Please, let her see Desmon. She can help heal us, then she'll leave," Patch pleaded, tail held low to his leader. He looked at Aurinka, knowing he promised to Tahti. "She won't even stay the night...just to help patch the wounds, and she'll leave....right, Aurink?" Patch was unsure about this, for never before had he opposed his leader. Maybe, for the best, Aurinka would do best to leave. Looking at the grimly cement, Patch felt something he hadn't felt in a while. Hurt. Hydras was dead, the wolf-dog whom he looked up to, idolized. She was so strong, so brave. Patch could not understand how she could've died; to Suenga, too. Patch looked at Aurinka. "Maybe its best if you just...leave. I can escourt you home, and we'll find your mother," Patch spoke to Aurinka, showing he wasn't going to be too soft to the wolf his leader wasn't too comfortable with.

Stormchaser and Ebony, now seven-months old, hugged close to Equiss, sobbing at what they heard. Auntie Hydras...dead. Ebony huddled close to Havana, crying. Stormy leaned into Equiss.

Temptation

The female was taken aback by Bullet's words and lowered her head. "If I were the one who made the sun rise and fall.. I would bring them back, but I have not the power to do so... dear Bullet.... I'm so... so sorry" She looked down, her tail falling between her legs until Lycos spoke. She showed only respect to the group as the mourned their losses.

Then Temptations eyes fell on Aurinka and her fur bristled for a moment. Feeling the heat between the Lurkers and this Ex-Haunter. She had to keep in character, there was no breaking her.

Aurinka

If we've only got one try
If we've only got one life
If time was never on our side
Then before I die
I want to burn out bright

'Conniving actions?' What had Aurinka done? It was Tainted who was provoked into a rage. Aurinka had no say in the matter. She did nothing to the Shadow Lurkers.

Aurinka trembled when the pack who used to almost love her turned against her. Instead of cowering, like she usually did, she raised her head confidently. "What have I done to you? How have I EVER harmed you? Was it me who killed your leader? No, it was my psycho of a half-sister who I have had NO contact with!" She said, her eyes lit with anger. "I'm tired of this bad rap I have. I can't choose which parents I am born to. So what if Vicious slaughtered half the Valley? So what if Tahti was once a con-artist? Have I done any of these things? No! I have not! And until you straighten up and learn to accept others as who they are and not as who their parents were, you're going to have a reputation worse than mine."

The only reason she was exiled, she thought, was because her mother showed up and refused to leave. And the leaders, being bigots, in Aurinka's eyes, threw them both out on the streets. She had nothing to do with Hydras' death. If anything, Hydras and Lyckos caused it themselves by throwing out innocent creatures and provoking a young, unstable, brainwashed hybrid, Aurinka thought.

Aurinka took a deep breath and calmed down. "If I had any power, I would have tried to save Queen Hydras and all those lost in the battles. Unfortunately, I can only do so much." She looked at Patch. "I will not leave until this is settled. If I die during this conversation, at least I would burn out bright."

It was then that she heard Desmon's voice. Her ears pricked up, her eyes widened, and she ran so fast it would appear that she teleported to him. For once in a long, long time, she was smiling. "Des...I'm sorry about Hydras. I would have told Tainted to stop, that it was fine that she kicked me out, but she never listens. I would have made it worse." Her head was lowered in a drastic drop of self-esteem. "If your pack wants, they can have me executed."

Bullet & Others

Seething with indignation, Ninaki spat his words out with a clipped snarl to accent them, "Maybe you've forgotten, but your last words were far from kind to her!" Muscles shaking with a combination of fury and utter exhaustion, the hybrid struggled to keep his backend from sinking to the ground as he stared savagely at Aurinka, "We took you in knowing full well who your parents were, and we did not judge you then. We cared for you like family! And when we were setting out to help you, you threw that all back in our face! Betrayed us, so you could go with the vile witch of a mother that hadn't been there for you your entire life." Though his words sang with power and emotion, his legs finally gave in as he fell into a hunched-shouldered sitting position, ears planed out to the side to accentuate his malignant facade, "You turned your back on us, Aurinka. You are no longer welcome."

Desmon winced under the harsh words of his grandfather, but again, he could not stand against him or his pack. He had loved Hydras and trusted in her and the others, just as much as he did Aurinka. "Auri..." Caught between a rock and a hard spot, the hybrid struggled for some middleground, "You... you have to go. I don't want to see you hurt."

Bullet tended to the blistered, blackened wounds of his daughter, lost in pitiful whimpers and doing all he could to comfort his dying child. He was worldess for a long moment, waiting until he was sure he could manage a sentence, "I wish... I wish it didn't have to be like this."

The bottomless despair and hopelessness of his words caused Pistol to stir and offer a light growl to his father. "Wishing and moping aren't going to get you anywhere. We've got to keep fighting, or things will get worse."

Aurinka; Tahti; Isabel; Predator

Aurinka narrowed her eyes at Bullet. "It is foolish of you to make such an assumption that my mother was never there for me. I saw her many times, but our meetings were secret because I was then an enemy of the Shadow Haunters." She said, trying to keep her anger under control. "You are idiotic to not let a mother help her own daughter. You're playing God. Well, guess what, Ninaki? Your game is over."

She turned to Desmon, her eyes softening. "I'm afraid I cannot do that Des. I'm not going to give up." She would die before she gave into the commands of these warriors.

In only a little while, Tahti came back with a mouthful of herbs that Aurinka had requested. She stood beside her daughter proudly, but still submissively.

Behind her followed two of her daughters, Isabel and Predator. Predator rolled over onto her back in submission. "I am sorry for what my sister Tainted has done to your pack." She said timidly. "I am in your debt."

Aurinka nuzzled Desmon and picked up a thick, juicy leaf of aloe vera. She hoped that by saving as many of the Lurkers as she could, she could gain their trust and possibly their respect. She wanted to come back. She never wanted to leave.

Lyckos, Camden & Kalion

The snarl that bellowed from Lyckos was frightening. He was shaking with anger, his gums pulled back and eyes wide in pure anger. "WHAT PART OF GET OUT DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND." His deep voice rang out through the building, the venomous undertone ringing crystal clear in all those that were gathered here. "Do not speak Hydras' name! You are not worthy to! You insulted her and me last time you were here, you impertinent little pup! What did you do? WHAT DID YOU DO?! YOU BETRAYED ME WHEN ME AND HYDRAS TOOK YOU IN, AND USED YOUR FILTHY MOUTH TO HURT AND OFFEND US. I never said you killed Hydras, but you didn't try to save her did you? You didn't fight on our side, did you? No, you were too busy clinging to that disgusting mother of yours who dares bring you here to try and slip back into our pack as if nothing is wrong! Ninaki is right; you are no longer welcome with the Shadow Lurkers."

Camden, fury boiling within him, came alongside Ninaki, brushing against the Beta to add a new set fo fangs that were bared to the four coyotes. Kalion joined them next, standing beside his brother to glare down at the traitor and her family.

Lyckos advanced on Aurinka as she approached Desmon. "How dare you?" The vicious tone in his voice was something new to Lyckos, who had never been so pissed off in all his life. "Get away from Desmon." It wasn't a request, it was an order. "You dare come back here, seeking your home back, and then insult my Beta? You bring your family here, the mother who caused all this in the first place? You amaze me; you are incredibly foolish."

During his speech, the alpha had circled in front of Aurinka, cutting her off from Desmon.

"You have five seconds to get out of my home, or I'll drag you, with all limbs broken, and leave you in the Ruins to be at the mercy of Risen. From what I understand, you've betrayed both me and her. I'm sure she'd love to see you back, and reinforce her policy on defectors. Only this time, we won't avenge your death like we did for Coriscan."

"One..."

Aurinka

Aurinka watched Lyckos, fire in her eyes. "WHY DIDN'T I FIGHT ON HER SIDE?!?!" She snapped in a rage. "I didn't fight on her side because a freaking retard like you would have killed me for it! YOU'RE THE ONE WHO TOLD ME TO STAY AWAY FROM HER!"

Predator cringed when she heard the fight. Tainted would be so mad when she found out. She knew her sister would turn on Lyckos and pick off every last Lurker until only those who surrendered were standing.

Aurinka stepped up to Luckos. He towered over her, but that didn't matter at the moment. "I will die before I run away." She said through clenched teeth.

Unkown to Aurinka and her group, Zina was nearby, watching the scene. In a few moments, she flew off, bringing her news to Tainted.

Bullet & Others

Dense ebony fur bristled like a mane around his neck and shoulder, the small alpha of Lost Valley took a stand by his father as the pack began to converge in support of Lyckos. Against his coal-black fur, Ankh's fangs shown with great brillance as he added them to the growing number that were bared at the traitors. You say that you want to be in our good graces, but you stand here and insult and threaten us, rather than even attempt to reason out your point civilly. We've all been through enough tonight, and are in no mood to deal with your selfriteous ranting. Lyckos has made it clear; you stay, and you die. " His words were icy cold and chillingly calm as he went on, "As for me, I'd prefere the latter."

Remaining where he was, Desmon didn't make a fuss when Lyckos placed himself between him and Aurinka. This was well beyond him, and though his heart was torn at the decision, he dropped his eyes away from the coyodog and wished for all it was worth that there would be no further bloodshed tonight.

Scattered about the roof of the Aegis den and posted around other nearby buildings, the falcons kept sentry for the wounded pack and their allies.

Though he had lost three siblings in the battle, among other family, the stoic Quaidah retained a strong demeanor as he went about to check on his own members clustered in the Den. Words of hope, sympathy, and courage were passed around as he tried to rally their spirits and instill something of a sense of accomplishment.

Aurinka; Others

Aurinka looked at Ankh. "Do you expect me not to be angry when you're not giving me a chance in the first place?" She questioned, her anger toning down somewhat.

In several moments, Zina was back with three more birds of prey. Ario the Harpy Eagle, Lune the Great Horned Owl and Falco the Shikra. They flew overhead, ready to take down any of the birds that went for help.

And who should appear but Tainted and diverse pack, along with Majikan's pride. She, as well as several tigers, 14 deadly Fierce Snakes stampeded through the alleys. They crowded around the entrance to the Aegis Den. Bamboo and Kanuk, being too large for the alleys, hung back to stop any who tried to escape.

Tainted's face was solemn as she entered the den. She had a few snakes on her body, while the rest were on the tigers or crowded around the Rebels. "My messenger bird says that you're picking on my sis, Lyckos. Is that true? I hope not, 'cause if it is, you'll get the same thing as your precious mate." Her eyes held little emotion as she stared coldly at Lyckos.

Aurinka growled at her half-sister. "Get out, Tainted. I think I can take care of myself." She grumbled, trying to hide the fact that she was trembling.

Quaidah & Others

From high above, the raptor gave cry to alert their family that there were intrudors. Ikenal, a massive wedgie and Sea Eagle hybrid, took off from his loft and soared high in the night sky, "Pepper, alert my family. It seems the battle isn't entirely finished." The monsterous bird circled slowly overhead, watching the three other avians that dared close rank on his friends.

Kraai, being a raven, was no match against the predators that sailed over head. But he did have one trick up his sleeve. When the little kestrel took off to alert the other eagles, he darted after, ready to harry and pester any of the three that tried to go after the little falcon. Hailstorm, Moonshadow, Mesa, Black Feather, and Dapplewing took to the skies as well, making mock rushes at the three, distracting them so that the swift-winged Pepper could make a safe break for it.

Always being the arogant one of his litter, a smirk pried his quivering black lips back more, "I never said we would give you a chance in the first place. It just seems to be that you aren't very sincere in your efforts if you're so quick to insult and degrade us. If we're so horrible, then why do you want to be with us?"

Auna, Feather-Paw, Lassoma, Mocha, Namir, Realgar, ShroudFur, Sideskill, Sundown, and Xxalt, Xxaltan comprised of the big cats that surged up around those already collected near Lyckos. "Give me the word, and she's dead." Namir hissed dangerously, claws flexing against the ungiving cement as he eyed up Tainted.

"Namir! Hold your ground." Quaidah ringing bark caught his attention as the pit-hybrid moved forward, holding his head down slightly, even though it was well below Lyckos' reguardless. "Vigilante, gather your forces. It seems they want to play with venom."

Vigilente, one of the few komodo dragons that comprised of the Ancient Haunters, sauntered forward with his tongue lashing in and out. "Alstroemaria, can you handle 'em?" He questioned, as the cobra hybrid twind around the monitor's scaly neck and rose high to face Tainted. With her, thirteen other brothers and sister filed forward, each of them rising up and eying the other snakes.

Taiser shifted uncomfortably as the reptiles advanced to protect Lyckos. While he was undoubtedly glad that Quaidah had brought his troops here after the battle, the reptiles made him rather nervous.

Lyckos & Others

With Tainted's appearance, a mocking laugh escape Lyckos as he fixed her with a patronising glare. "You honestly believe I'm intimidated by you, don't you? I think you should listen to your sister Tainted, and get out. If you're that worried that I'm 'picking on your sis' as you put it, take her with you. I won't stop you."

Then the smile faded, replaced by an expression that was so serious, and so deadly, it showed he wasn't afraid to battle with Tainted here and now.

"However, if you even think about attacking us, you'll be dead in a heartbeat. I have nothing to fear, for my death will mean I can be reunited with my Hydras. You made a mistake coming into the Lurker's stronghold, Tainted. Your sister doesn't want you here, and neither do we. Leave, or suffer the consequences. I haven't attacked your sister, my tactic was intimidation, much like you're attempting to do now to us, only mine was working."

Camden sniggered, but was silenced by Kalion, who flashed a fang at his nephew. Kalion then fixed Tainted with a cold stare. "Prehaps you should just go. Right now we're talking to your sister. Let her get on with her own life Tainted, she doesn't need you tagging along with her."

Lyckos frowned, advancing once again on Tainted, but staying just out of striking range of the snakes. "Now where was I...ah yes...Oh, and Tainted, the 'five seconds' applies for you too. Although I wouldn't be surprised if you went running off to your Haunter pals, that's what you tend to do isn't it?" While chuckles rose from the gathered forces, and Karitania and her pack joined the swelling ranks round him, Lyckos lifted his head and loudly counted:

"Two."

He was reluctant to start a fight with wounded pack members around, but at the same time, wiping that look of Tainted face would be well worth it. He would send her to join Hydras if she dared attack.

Tainted & Others

Tainted kept a solemn face, her eyes narrowing as Lyckos spoke. "Do you think I'm a coward? I won't leave until justice is served." She stepped as close as the crowding enemies would allow.

Majikan and Enshalla stood on either side of Tainted, with Tamaka, Koray, Tama, Devaki Estelle, Irakli, Blue Moon, Coon, Quasar, Runt, Ping, Kuna, Flash, Zeta, Ayin, Angelina, Zahavi, Xatia, Zafirah, Raiquen and Keryn, all tigers of various subspecies, crowded around and behind their leaders.

Dakota, having gotten her allies' call for reinforcements, led her group in.

Tainted's confidence grew as her army grew. "If you'll be with your dear Hydras, then why are you having a bunch of brainwashed slaves cover your ass? Why don't you just give up so you can be with your mate?" She taunted, her tail raising high above her back.

In the skies, Zina went after pepper while Ario, Lune and Falco took the blows of the other birds.

Along with Dakota came Kaisho, Aakesh and Achira, all large birds of prey. The three harassed the birds who were defending Pepper.

Bullet & Others

Of all the allies under the given factions, it was only Ty, Aminita, and the alligators which were not present, with the latter having taken refuge in the lake when the fire hit, and who's short limbs prevented them from following their land counterparts with any ease anyway. Even Legend had to forgoe his deep resentment for the human race to be with his group, and had hastily taken refuge inside the den where he stood off to the corner with Pheral and her children.

"I'll bet I can make her leave... permanently." Hellebora hissed hopefully, showing off her pitch-black mouth that contrasted sharply against her olive-brown scaling.

Siddling a little closer to the enemies, Dicentra added her own two cents, "Such hypocritical words, darling." The reptillian hybrid spoke out in a voice laced with lisping hisses, "I believe it is Risen who steals and brainwashes the youngsters? And it is you who is bringing the reinforcements to cover your own furry ass. We were minding our own business."

"Easy, Dice." Vigilante whispered to the snake, while shifting his dark eyes from one enemy to the next. Already, little tendrils of drool were beginning to seep from his bacteria-laden jaws as he sized up the potential meals.

Stepping away from Phelan, Arcane, and Ravenshou, Valcane made her way over to Desmon. The hybrid daugher settled down next to the distraught Lurker and began to speak quietly with him. Her light gray eyes, with irises so pale they almost appeared hueless, flickered between Des and Aurinka as she spoke. >[? Outside, Pepper was putting her tiny frame to an advantage as she dove down amongst the buildings, manuevering delicately through clotheslines and other obsticles that her pursuers were too large to navigate through. Kraai was forced to back off at this point, unable to follow after the little kestrel. Twisting and darting this way and that, he banked up from the buildings and shot for the sky again, loosing a few back feathers when talons scored a little too close for comfort.

Lyckos, Camden and Kalion

Lyckos laughed, his eyes flashing. "I think you're getting me confused with your pal Risen, sweetheart," he said lightly, the hint of malice lacing his voice, "These aren't my brainwashed slaves; they're my pack and allies. We were resting in our home. I didn't call for reinforcements to interfere in something I have nothing to do with."

He sneered, grinning at Dicentra's words. His muscles had began to tense, his hackles rise. Lyckos now began to growl, a low, throaty and sinister growl, which was mimicked by Camden and Kalion as the Lurker Alpha began to weigh up his options.

It didn't take long.

His weigh shifted forward, his body becoming aggressive, his ears back and fangs on full show.

"Lurkers, Guardians and friends, It seems we have some unwelcome guests in our midst..." Lyckos' voice rang out clear and true, as his eyes met Tainted's and hardened with bitter hatred, "I think it's time we showed them the door, Don't you agree?" His eyes moved to the various faction leaders: First to Ankh, then Quaidah, then Karitania, seeking their approval before giving the command he was aching to roar.

Suddenly, his eyes shifted to Aurinka.
"Call off your sister, and make her leave, and we'll discuss your re-entry into the Lurkers. Fail to, and you'll die with them."

He knew it would tear Desmon apart, but if he could avoid it, Lyckos wished to prevent any deaths in his ranks. He glanced back momentarily, his actions guarded by Kalion who stood slightly in front of him. It was a breif look, that held appologies and sorrow for his actions, but as the old saying goes; all's fair in love and war.

Lyckos turned back to Aurinka, pausing momentarily to shoot Tainted a dirty look, "Your choice. Her, or us."

Aurinka

Aurinka looked at Lyckos, surprised by his change in attitude. Would she choose the 'sister' she had known only for a few months or the pack she placed her trust in? It was an easy choice. Tainted couldn't take care of Aurinka.

The coywolf turned to Tainted, standing tall, asserting her dominance over her sister but not the Lurkers. "Leave now, Tainted. We are working things out." She said calmly but firmly.

Tainted pinned her ears back, grumbling, but had no choice but to listen to Aurinka. The older sister was much higher in rank than Tainted. With low, angry growls, she looked at Lyckos one last time. "I trust that I won't need to come back a next time, Lyckos." With that, she led her pack, Dakota's group and Majikan's pride away without a fight.

Aurinka then looked at Lyckos. "They're gone." She stated.

Lyckos, Camden & Kalion

Lyckos snarled, following Tainted and her band of scumbags to make sure they were leaving. Satisfied, he turned back to face his allies and pack. "Shame, really. I was quite looking forward to tearing her apart. Still, at least this way we won't get blood on the floor. Thank you all for standing by me."

Camden, who had left the den to make sure Tainted had left, shouted out to the darkness. However, his words could clearly be heard back inside the den. "Yeah, that's right, FUCK OFF! I'll get you for killing my mother and brother, you bitch, you just wait!"

Lyckos didn't flinch, ignoring his son, who stormed back in and walked over to Lerna. Camden was clearly angry they hadn't engaged Tainted, but he understood why Lyckos wasn't too keen to jump into battle now. He brushed against his sister, looking down at his injured brother. Come on, Argolis... To Lerna he simply muttered, "We'll kill her, one day. She won't get away with taking Quake and Mother from us. We'll get her...You, me and Argolis. We'll do it, together."

Kalion fixed his brother with an untrusting stare. Lyckos knew what he was thinking, and shook him off. Instead, he faced Aurinka. "I hope you realise what I just did for you. I could have killed that bitch for taking my son and Hydras from me, but I didn't. We could have wiped them out. Upstairs, Aurinka, go to the roof. I'll be along shortly."

Turning his back, Lyckos motioned for Kalion to guard the doors to the den. Then he raised his voice once more. "Ankh, Quaidah, Karitania, Ninaki. Please could you come with me. I need a council for my talk with Aurinka."

Karitania nodded, standing quietly. Lyckos began to climb the stairs to the roof, his eyes hardened, and his jaws clamped tightly. Silently, he came onto the roof, moving to stand opposite Aurinka. While he waited for his hand-picked council of leaders to arrive, Lyckos searched the skies for Pirqua, and the other Lurker birds. Spotting them, he barked out. "Make sure Tainted and her band are gone. Then I would like you, Pirqua, to return to the roof. The rest of you, could you please patrol the skies. I don't want any more unwelcome visitors appearing without us knowing."

After dismissing the birds, Lyckos turned to face Aurinka. He sat down a few feet from her, and waited for his council to gather.

Bullet & Others

Kambode Jr. eagerly escorted Camden out of the den, ignoring the warning look he was getting from his sister Rue. "You're all DEAD!" He threatened into the deep night, his baying voice boastful and defiant as it rose after the retreating enemies. "Every last one of you! Ya hear?" Then he too returned inside, seeking out the companionship of his parents and the only other two surviving siblings in what had once numbered eleven.

Through the haze of worry and pain, Lerna lifted a vauge smile to her brother, dipping her chocolatey head in a nod, "By our fangs, the three of us together, she will fall." Like Camden, she spoke of Argolis like he wasn't teetering on the edge of a life and death struggle. In a delirious world of his own, Argolis barely heard what was being said and comprehended nothing of what was happening around him. But for now, he was still alive and breathing.

Ankh was seething at the fact that Aurinka wasn't being outright turned away, but he had learned since a pup that he was not to second-guess his leaders. It was one thing that not only Hydras, but Narsia and Ninaki had instilled in him to know end. Respect your family and the authority of your superiors. Helping his father to his feet, he was aided by his nephew as the three made their way up the stairs.

Trailing above Lyckos, the peregrine falcon glided down to hear his words, to which she bobbed her head in understanding. The matriarch of the Lurker raptors took to the inky skies again, spreading the word amongst her kin and the three alliance members that sailed with them. The group spread themselves out, covering several blocks as they circled about overhead. No one would be getting anywhere near the Aegis Den without at least one bird spotting them. Once everyone was situated and understanding of their scouting area, Pirqua returned to the rooftop, landing lightly in front of Lyckos.

Ninaki, with his son and grandson on either side of him, perched themselves near their solo leader. Ankh still bore a look of absolutely loathing and animosity towards Aurinka, while Quaidah seemed to be the most diligent and calm of the three.

Aurinka

Aurinka watched as Tainted left. "I appreciate that you did not kill Tainted in front of me, but she is not truly my sister." She said, looking at the tiny, wet footprints that the other had left. "She is a brainwashed killer. I would not mind if she dropped dead." It was a cold thing for Aurinka to say, but she as speaking her mind. She moved up to the roof and waited for the council.

Temptation

Muscles twitched beneath an oil-spilled coat as Aurinka was accepted back into the Lurkers. She pulled back a lip for a second; This time, this was true anger, true hatred to the little betrayer. But her look could have easily been decieved as distrust.

Aurinka... you have betrayed your pack and your mother. Your leader... Your family. And after these fools kick you out, you come crawling back to them... when you did not even give the Haunters a second chance. True it would have been foolish to go right up to Risen, but there could have been round about ways to rejoin us.... And here you are.... you choose the loosing side. I would feel pity for you, but I cannot. For this is your choice. And pity should be shared to those who do not have one...

Her lips lowered down as her thoughts faded away. Deep treasure colored eyes boring into Aurinka before turning to Bullet. He was her only friend here. She would have to gain the trust of the others... Before she began to tear them from the inside out...

Tahti

Tahti, even at her distance from the rest, could see Temptation's angry body language. She stepped close, although still giving the Lurkers their space, and shot Temptation a look.

I know your secrets. I know that you were sent by the Haunters. If you bare your pretty little teeth at my daughter again, I'll tell Lyckos who you really are. The look said. Tahti stepped back again. Her eye was still on Temtptaion. Just try me, pup...

Aurinka was only a young pup when she left. She had been converted by the Ancient Guardians in her puppy days before she knew any better. How could she be blamed for that?

Temptation

The black female caught the look of Tahti; But the only response she gave was a blank and solemn look. If Lyckos were told that Temptation were a spy, Temptation would only deny it. Besides, who would he believe? The one covered in blood who fought next to the lurkers in the prior battle. Or a demented coyote who is well known for being an ex-haunter.

Temptation wouldn't press her luck, but it is the way that she saw it.

Lyckos

Once Karitania had arrived and was seated, Lyckos stood up with an unreadable expression. His council was gathered, and it was time to discuss the situation.

"Should Aurinka be granted re-entry into the Shadow Lurkers. That is what I have called you here for," Lyckos addressed the council first, his head level with theirs to show respect for their positions. "You will each be able to express your opinion freely, and at the end of it all I shall decide our course of action. It all sounds a lot bigger than it is, because the answer will simply be yes or no. So, I think we should start with Aurinka."

It was then that Lyckos turned his hazel eyes to the coyote mix, his head lifting to the height appropriate to his rank. He slowly walked towards her, before he began to circle her very slowly while he spoke. "Aurinka, I accepted you into the Shadow Lurkers when you were a pup, and made you promise your alliegance to the Lurkers and our cause, especially to me. I had taken you in from the enemy side, so risked my neck for you. A few weeks ago you threw it back in my face when you challenged Hydras' decision regarding your mother, whom is an ex-haunter and an ex-ally of the Haunters. In doing so, you mocked Hydras, you insulted her and me, and in doing that insulted the Lurkers as a whole."

At this point he had circled round to her other side, so began to walk back towards his council, his eyes looking out over the alleys while he continued to speak.

"Do you deny this?"

He paused, for whatever answer she should give, and for the council to take in what he had said. By now he was moving round the back of the council members, before returning to his original place facing Aurinka.

"You then left us, going with your mother and your siblings to start a new pack or join hers. It matters not what happened then, for the point was you had left us, and so you became an enemy to us, just as your mother and your sister had. Why do you want to come back now? Plead your case Aurinka. I'm not in the mood for games."

Aurinka

Aurinka sat there, watching Lyckos with an expression in her eyes that could not be described, but everyone would surely know that she was sorry for what she had done.

"I do not deny that." She said to her former alpha's first statement. But it was the second one that she disagreed with. "If I may say, I had nothing to do with my mother after I left the Lurkers. I stayed at Sedge Creek under the care of Karai." She replied, remembering to stay submissive. And this was true. "I am truly sorry for what I have done; the illness that I had acted upon my brain and impaired my judgment. Sometimes we do things that we don't want to when we have distemper. I truly didn't want to leave the Lurkers." She then explained, and this as also true.

"I want to come back, Lyckos, because what I did was wrong. I wasn't thinking clearly because of my illness. I don't want to be out there - I don't even want to be in my mother's pack. It's too close to the Shadow Haunters. And I'm sure you don't blame me for not wanting to be back with Risen." She tried to fight back the tears, but they came anyway. She looked back at the others, wondering what they would say. What did they think of her? She feared that they would never let her back. Or even worse – have her killed.

Ninaki, Ankh, Quaidah, & Pirqua

Hostility made manifest, Ankh's response came to no surprise to his father and son. The small bodied, ebony hybrid was quick to voice his less than kindly opinion reguarding the matter, "I say no. Because of her smart-ass words and actions, she corrupted how many of our members?" A pointed look was directed around the other concil members, while Ninaki gave him a reprimanding glare for his language in what was suppose to be a serious and non-violent affair. "Reguardless of that, don't forget her words to us only minutes ago. They are not to unlike those vile retorts when we tried to tell Tahti off last time." Ankh looked reproachfully at the coyodog, showing no ounce of empathy for her tears, "She's degraded our leaders more than once, berated my father, tormented my son with confusion and despair, and mocks us when we refuse to allow her back? No, she should be killed like the scum she is rather then allowed a chance to corrupt our ranks again."

When his son fell silent, Ninaki took a stilling breath, harboring a more sagely facade in his long, lean face and adopting a tone that was more neutral than Ankh's, but not without a certain gravity to it. "If we weren't in such a state of war as we are, I may have elected that she be given a repreive for her actions. However... in these dark hours, we cannot afford such things. She is unstable in her actions, and linked to far too many creatures that wish us ill. Case in point - the battle that nearly errupted downstairs. She lacks the respect for authority that we have strived so hard to instill in our children. What will happen the next time she disapproves of our actions? Or if her mother and siblings decide to mettle with our business?" Ninaki let his words linger for a moment for the others to mull over before he went on again, bringing up another point that had hounded the Lurkers since their younger days, "This pack has suffered too many betrayals in the past from enemies posing as reformed creatures. If anything, this is the reason I come to my answer - no."

Quaidah was next to voice his view on the situation, with his response being molded somewhat from his situation in life and the pack that he was in lead of. "I do not have as much experience around Aurinka as some of you, but I do know one thing - she has never turned tooth against anyone here. I agree that in this terrible time, we must be more cautious than ever about who we allow in our ranks. But at the same time, we cannot let this warefair turn us cold against everyone but family - we have to keep an open mind and heart to others, and look for the good that they can offer. I say, give her another chance. Perhaps assign a falcon escort until she can be trusted, and impose restrictions on where she's allowed to go for a while... but give her another chance."

Patch

Sometimes love, feels like pain, and sometimes I wonder if it's all the same, sometimes life, feels just like rain, cause you never know, when it's gonna fall down on you

I wish you well, I wish you well, on this trip to find yourself, I wish you well, wish I could help, but I can't help you find yourself

Sometimes faith, feels like doubt, and sometimes I wonder if we'll even get out, sometimes life hurts just like now, but ya gotta know, it's all gonna come back around

I wish you well, I wish you well, on this trip to find yourself, I wish you well, wish I could help, but I can't help you find yourself

Patch herded his pups away, his lips curled up as Tainted entered, and fur stood up. He felt the sadness well up in his belly, looking at his pack mates as they growled and snarled. Patch felt regretful for all of this. He wanted to save Tainted, his brother's mate, but she was labelled a enemy. Lips curled back, his fangs glinted with the thin light that broke threw the chasm in the cloudy sky. Blue eyes sparked likes flames, showing the hatred, dismay and agony he had gone threw in his four-year life. Loosing Panic and Lasher, playmates and friends. The lose of Silverfur, and later Wind Feather. Fanta and Arget's anonymous disappearances. Lastly, the death of Hydras. All this welded up inside of his belly, his muscles rippling under his pelt. The broken ribs, now just barely healed fully, pained him. When Tainted pivoted and left, the feeling still didn't bubble by. Patch wanted to kill someone, and rip their organs out and smear it on the ground. It was all the Shadow Haunters fault! How could Arget, Fanta and Suenga betray them for the wolves they hated deeply and entirely? Those goddamn traitors! Patch took a deep breath, steadying his heart beat. Patch turned, looking for Equiss. Where was his mate? He needed someone to hold close, and talk to.

find yourself,

I can't help you find yourself,
Find yourself..

Lyckos & Karitania

His eyes never wavered from Aurinka while his council took it in turns to voice their opinions. Each was right in their argument, and Lyckos couldn't help but wish Hydras was with him right now. She would know what to do.

Karitania was in the same boat as Quaidah, having never really been involved with Aurinka, and having to base her decision on what she had heard thus far. "Well, If this illness is as horrible as it sounds then I wouldn't be surprised that it caused the actions Aurinka claims, and I fear that if you were to turn her away, it would cause those siblings of hers to return for a fight. Maybe having her back would be better, for then her siblings would be less likely to attack the pack she belongs to? So, it's with that point that I come to my answer - Yes, let her come back."

Lyckos, after taking a few moments of silence to come to a decision, finally let his thoughts be heard, "Aurinka, I'm afraid I cannot allow you to return to the Lurkers. While I understand the fact your illness may have impeded your judgement, I believe that many of the Lurkers will blame you for the damage your sister has done to this pack. However, I shall say that perhaps, in the future, we may be able to talk again of this once this war has died down. Right now is not a good time, but in the future, it may be possible."

It was with this that he stood and approached her, "I shall send Karitania to escort you from the den, no one will harm you. I would not turn you away without good reason, you must understand. The Lurkers have been damaged too much. We must rebuild. Only then will I think about changing my decision."

Lyckos nodded to Karitania, who quickly stood, and with a simple, "Come, Aurinka," she began to walk down the stairs but paused to make sure the female was following.

It was then that Lyckos turned to his council. "Thank you all for your opinions and thoughts. Now, it's been a terrible day, but we must rest. Our packs are counting on us to lead them back to glory. I'm glad to have you all at my side."

Aurinka; Papyrus

Aurinka at first thought everything was going her way, until Lyckos made his decision. Tears filled her eyes. What had she done to deserve this? It was like blaming somebody with asthma for not breathing, she thought. 'Oh well,' she tried to comfort herself, 'at least I can always go back to Mother's pack.'

It was then that the disturbing news came. Just as Aurinka was beginning to follow Karitania, Papyrus flew in an landed on the rail next to the young hybrid. She glanced around, making sure that they were finished with their meeting before she spoke. "Auri...I'm sorry to bear bad news for you at this time, but..." She paused, choking down her tears. "Auri, your mother is dead. She was attacked by Kalaber's mate. It just came out of the blue. The wolf came and attacked her without a motive and without provocation." And this, as far as anyone could tell, was the truth.

Aurinka watched the bird, not sure what to think. At first, she assumed it was a joke. After all, Tahti would never die, would she? She watched Papyrus, seeing that she wasn't lying. The coywolf burst into tears and turned to Lyckos. "Kill me now! Put me out of my misery! I know you always wanted to!" She sobbed.

Repulsion

Repulsion had dared tred the storm on his fathers request. Soon he arrived on lurker ground. His tail low he immediatly began to slowly approach their main den. He peaked in just as aurinka said to kill her.You must be aurinka? Excuse me for barging in Lyckos, My father asked me to see what was going on with her, Her sister. Sensed something wrong. He spoke quietly. His eyes not meeting anyones eyes. He was still mourning his mothers death.

Aurinka

Aurinka looked at Repulsion through blurry, teary eyes. "Nothing's wrong! Kill me now!" She rolled over on her back so the Lurkers could get a shot at her throat.

Repulsion

He looked around and then to her.Tainted wants you aurinka please come with me. I know your hurting and Im sorry that it happened but please don't do this you have much more to live forHe spoke whimpering a bit.

Aurinka

Aurinka closed her eyes. "I barely know Tainted. She ruined my life. And I have nothing to live for. My mother is dead and I'm rejected everywhere I go." She opened her eyes and looked back at Lyckos. "Make it painless, please."

Repulsion

He sighed.I cannot allow anyone to kill you Aurinka, It will be on me if someone does. Your sister loves you. I understand thats what you think. But please don't do this. Your Your mother wouldn't want it. If your mother wanted you dead why would she of helped you live?He studdered

Aurinka

Aurinka looked back at Repulsion. "My sister killed my alpha just because she offended my family. That's not love. That's instability." She said vacantly. "I'm never going to see my best friend again; I'm never gonna see Desmon! All because of what some stupid sickness did to me." She closed her eyes and her mouth again, waiting for Lyckos to make his move.

Repulsion

He sighed. So be it, but do not give up your life. Lyckos I know its not my place but couldn't you just reconsider and let Aurinka stay. I am sure she really didn't mean harm. She needs a fairly strong home and yours is the best place for her. I can see that she is devouted to you. Her offering herself for you to kill. I beg you to reconsiderOkay so he had been listening into to tainted and his fathers talk. He dipped his head.

Ninaki, Ankh, Quaidah, & Pirqua

The beta had bowed his head to Lyckos, while the other two quickly followed suite to show their respect and recognition to his orders. And with their aid, he rose to wearied, quaking legs and made his way back to the first floor.

"Lyckos!" Sweeping in through the doors, Hailstorm landed in front of the Lurker King, bobbing his head once before craning his neck to look up at the towering canine, "Sir, the waters of Requiems River are rising fast. By the looks of it, they'll reach the Den within the hour."

Having settled herself carefully on the alpha's back, mindful not to dig her talons too deep into his brindle fur, Pirqua added on to what her son reported, "We had this problem a few years ago; the entire lower level was completely flooded out."

Ankh and Quaidah were paying more attention to the issue with Aurinka now, with each having their own opinion on the matter. Ankh, of course, couldn't be happier with the notion of tearing the coyodog's throat out, but it was Quaidah who proposed a potential solution, "If it would be agreeable with Lyckos, my pack can take her in. We can aply the same rules as we do with Aminita."

Aurinka; Papyrus

Aurinka lay there, motionless, until she had an idea. She rolled on her side and looked up at Lyckos. "Tainted would do anything to protect me. So what if we used that fact to get info from the Shadow Haunters?" She suggested. "Think about it - if Tainted would risk her life for me, she would gladly give us any information she has on the Haunters if I ask her."

She looked at Quaidah when he spoke. A soft sigh escaped her. "My brother was killed under the care of the Ancient Guardians. By a hypocritical Haunter traitor tiger."

Papyrus looked at Aurinka and nodded. "My leader Tainted would do anything for Aurinka and her pack, even if it meant spying on her allies and bringing the info back to Aurinka's pack." She informed. "I wish there is some info I could give you now, but I am rather low in the ranks and do not get in on the classified stuff."

Lyckos, Camden & Karitania

The madness that ensued was far too fast for Lyckos to get a word in, for no sooner had the news of Tahti's death been told, than one of Kalaber's sons burst in. Lyckos frowned, clearly unhappy about this interruption, but said nothing while Repulsion tried to reason with Aurinka.

Hailstorm brought news that he didn't want to deal with so early on in this troubled time. A flood, threatening their home and pack that would be upon them within the hour. Lyckos sighed frustratedly, now trying to think of the options they had. Stay here, and get flooded into the top levels of the den and starve, or flee to higher ground in the valley and risk bumping into the enemies they had only been fighting earlier in the evening. There was only one choice, and while it would be difficult and dangerous, he had no other choice. "We'll have to head to the mountains. We can use the Ancient Guardians base as refuge, and send out a hunting party to bring food in for the injured. Hailstorm, round up the falcons and the other birds, we'll be moving out as soon as possible. I'll need every pair of eyes on the look out for danger, we can't risk attack at a time like this."

Lyckos then turned his attention to Aurinka, "Whilst I do not doubt the fact your sister would do that for you, I think spying on Risen would likely mean her death. Tainted has two choices, the Haunters or us. From what I've seen so far, she's far more likely to choose them," he paused, his eyes looking away from her, "You can come with us for now. You may join the Guardians if you wish. Repulsion, go back to your father and Tainted, we need to be left alone."

Karitania glanced back to Aurinka, "Come on, Aurinka, You can walk with me."

Lyckos, mindful of Pirqua, made his way back into the den and down to the lowest level. With a sharp, authorative bark, he faced the crowds of Lurkers and allies. "The Requiems River is rising at an alarming rate. Floodwaters will arrive at the den within the hour. I need everyone out of here, we must head for higher ground. Quaidah," Lyckos called, picking out the alpha among the crowd, "is there room in your temple for us all? If we stay here the entire lower level will be flooded. Is it okay for us to take shelter with you until the waters receed?"

Camden, however, was more worried about the wounded. "Dad, how are we going to get the injured up the mountains?! They'll never make it!"

Lyckos sighed, knowing full well the journey could cost him Argolis. "If we stay here, we'll surely starve. We must try to get them up to safety. Any able creature should help anyone who is wounded. I need the rest of you to form up around the injured to make a guard circle incase we are attacked."

Kalion weaved through the crowds, reaching Camden and Lerna, while they stood over the fallen Argolis. "Do you need help carrying him," Kalion asked his neice and nephew, "or can you manage?"

Aurinka

Aurinka slowly stood up, not wanting to perish in the flood. That would be slow and painful. She made her way toward Karitania, not making eye contact. "This is my fault." She mumbled. "I caused all of this. Now my mother is dead."

Papyrus looked down at Lyckos, then at Argolis. "If you want, I can get Kanuk to carry him. He's a deer and he can safely carry a wolf for a good distance." She offered. She knew, now that the Lurkers and Aurinka were on each other's good sides again, Tainted and the Rebels no longer wanted to bring harm to them as long as they stayed on each other's good sides.

Repulsion

He dipped his head and then ran off quickly back to the mountains

Lyckos & Camden

A growl was the responce from Camden when Papyrus offered help. "We can manage perfectly well without one of Tainted's lot. He's our family, let us look after him."

Lyckos shot a look at his son, but said nothing. It was not the time to chastise him for his actions. Everyone was at their wits end, and before the night was through, he was sure there would be more heartache.

Aurinka

Papyrus nodded to Camden. "I can understand your choice, and I do not blame you for not wanting our help." She replied.

Aurinka, taking a deep breath, looked around. "Des? Where are you?" She called.

Ninaki, Ankh, Quaidah, & Pirqua

"Of course, Lyckos. My home is yours, and there is more than enough room for all of us." Quaidah responded evenly, glad to be of help in what was undoubtedly a very stressful and overwhelming situation for the solo Lurker King. "Vigilante; have your crew keep a perimeter around us. We will be moving slow with the injured, so they will be able to keep up. Ikenal! Please gather your family and have them aid us. We need more eyes in the sky, and a safe path to navigate through."

"Alright, get ready brethern." Vigilante called out, waddling through the ranks of canines as the reptillian members of the Ancient Haunters swarmed towards him, "It's plenty dark out, so I want the darker snakes further out for ambush in case we're attacked. Dicentra, Hellebora, Rugosa, and TidalWave - that's you. Violacea, I want you by Lyckos. The rest, you'll stay closer to the pack." The monitor now looked over his own siblings, "Kitta, you'll stay by Lyckos as well. The rest of you take up positions near the wounded."

While Hailstorm went to inform the rest of his kin of the move, Ikenal was intercepting his incoming family, who had been on their way as Pepper led them back from the summoning. Information was passed swiftly, and soon the mix-matched flock was circling low overhead, ready to fan out and begin the escort to safer grounds. Of the eyes in the sky, six were peregrine falcons, one of a raven, one of a kestrel, and five of eagles.

Not showing an ounce of protest to her brother's words, and fully understanding just why he was hostile, Lerna turned her attention to her uncle, "Could you, please?" The chocolately hybrid lowered herself down, nuzzling her muzzle under her brother's chest and trying to lift him somewhat, though she'd certainly need the help of Camden to get Argolis' limp frame pryed off the ground and manuevered onto Kalion.

As the others were getting situated, Desmon finally found the time to approach Aurinka, giving a softened smile as he padded towards her and away from a watchful Valcane, "If you'll take Quaidah's offer... I think, I think that would join you there, if it is alright with the rest of my family."

Aurinka

Aurinka looked at Desmon, but couldn't even muster up a small smile. Not now. She simply looked at him with soft, sorrowful eyes. "I..." She paused, taking a deep breath. "I'll take his offer. Thanks for sticking with me through all of this." She nuzzled him before looking off into the crowd. "It looks like we're moving out now."

Lyckos & Pack

Camden quickly took Lerna's lead, trying to be as gentle as possible as he helped his sister lift the delirious Argolis onto Kalion's back. Kalion lowered himself for his neice and nephew, and once Argolis was in place, was braced by Camden to prevent Argolis sliding off. Then, with a grim smile to Lerna, Kalion headed for the centre of the troops where the injured were being taken.

Karitania, and her remaining pack, took up positions around the injured members for protection and waited for the orders to move.

With the factions swarming in preparation for the move, Lyckos began to examine the crowd and offer direction where needed to form up the Lurkers and their allies. Once satisfied that everyone was ready, he took point at the front of the platoon of creatures, and began to move out. "Okay everyone, I want a slow, but strong pace. We must get up to the Guardians base before the floodwaters block off out path. Quaidah, you lead the way, you'll know the quickest way there. Let's go."

Kalion, mindful of Argolis on his back, started forward, with Camden at his side. Karitania and her pack also began the journey to the Croal Mountains.

Ninaki, Ankh, Quaidah, & Pirqua

Pheral took up a spot just beside Quaidah as the group began to head out, following her leader closely and using her keen snout to sort out any potentially dangerous odors. Zhener took the lead in the sky, helping to assure that the path ahead bore no complications or unforseen dangers. Pirqua, too, was in the air, gliding and circling low as she kept tabs with the other raptors, making sure that there there weren't any ambushes, or that no one fell behind during the move.

Lerna took up position on the other side of her uncle, helping to ensure that Argolis didn't fall. And Desmon, feeling a brief sense of calm amid all the turmoil, stayed in close contact with Aurinka, "Stay close."

Aurinka

Aurinka leaned against Desmon. Having nerve damage in her hind legs from the distemper, she couldn't walk as well as she once was able to. She looked at her friend, her eyes silently saying, 'I will not leave you.'
