Rebel
She never was much for the city life, but when boredom strikes by God you damned well better listen. Plus, she was new in town and figured she might as well stir up at least a little uproar. Quick and light, Rebel moved through the back alleys on silent pads. She paused at a dumpster, took in a whiff and curled her lip. Dear God in Heaven, how did the humans stand that stench?! With a small shudder, the little grey and black wolf moved on. She was about to pass this particular alley when a strong scent caught her attention. She wasn't alone here. Giving a pause, she hovered, weighed her options, then took action. Head down low, more in a defensive manner then submissive, she made her way into Lurker territory. Come out, come out, wherever you are... She murmured softly.
Black Arrow
The dog days of summer... oh how Black Arrow enjoyed them! The two-year old was now considered an adult amongst her pack, and her playful, jovial attitude had matured some, without losing the ambitious spark and energetic qualities that had marked her as a pup. Today, the hybrid was jaunting down along a narrow alleyway that was scarcely wide enough to permit a motorcycle, and dark and dingy enough that her light gray coat and dark brown eyes all but melded into the dense shadows around her. As soon as she exited the cramped passage and stepped back into the sunlight, Arrow stood tall and lifted her nose, sniffing at the air. She was about to carry on and cross a deserted street when she heard the soft steps of another canine close by. Immediately, the fae's tail went up and her ears perked, trying to locate the direction those paws were coming from.
Rebel
Boring, boring, bor- wait a minute. What was that? Rebel paused and inhaled slowly, taking in the scent of another. Emerald green eyes narrowed as she inhaled again, slowly moving her head back and forth to try and locate the scent of the other. Come on out, sunshine..... She said softly, hervoice low and soft. She had a whiskey voice, one that had a slight edge and burn to it. She wasn't about to be caught off guard. Rebel was a lot of things but stupid was notone of them.
Black Arrow
One of Arrow's ears swiveled to the side, directed towards the soft voice that sounded from somewhere nearby. "Who's there?" Unlike many in the Lurker family, this wolfdog did not become immediately defensive or authoritive. On the other paw, she was a little guarded as she started to pad in the direction of Rebel's luring vocals, and not entirely naive. "You're in Lurker territory." Light gray paws stopped at the edge of another alleyway, believing this to be the source of the voice. "Show yourself."
Rebel
Rebel gave a soft laugh, her silvery black pelt melting in and out of the shadows. And what do I care that I'm in "Lurker Territory?" She asked softly in that whiskey voice of hers. She stepped from the shadows, her frame petite and frail looking but there was something about those cunning eyes of hers that made a wolf want to take pause. There was something different about Rebel. She didn't care about territories, alphas, betas, or the whole lot. She was a lone wolf. Packs got you killed. All that "all for one and one for all" bull shit. Always having to prove your loyalty, always cowering before the alphas. No. Rebel was her own leader. Every now and then she would stop and have a conversation with another wolf, but why stay?
Black Arrow
The tension riding in Arrow's body relaxed when she saw the smaller canine emerge from the shadowed alley. Before she let her guard down too much however, the silvery female reminded herself that size and fighting prowess didn't always correlate, and this dainty stranger could be an experienced brawler. The confidence that carried in her voice, and... something about Rebel made that tension slowly creep back into Arrow. "You should care because it's our land your walking on, not yours." The young hybrid was not particularly forceful or aggressive in her comeback - certainly not like Argolis or Pistol could be. She tried though, "Loners are permitted through as long as you cause no trouble." Black Arrow took a few steps closer to Rebel, making a move to circle slowly around her, for the purpose of getting a good view of the stranger and record her scent. "You are a loner, or do you belong to a pack?"
Rebel
A faint smile brushed across her lips, and she shifted her body so that Arrow was always in her sights. She wasn't stupid. At least. Not usually. I'm new in town. And I don't play well with others. Her lip curled up a bit in a sneer. And who says I was causing trouble? I don't believe I did anything wrong. However, a bit of brawl sounded like a real good time right now. Rebel was itching for a good fight. Craved it. Needed it. But, there was a big difference between fighting one dog and taking on it's pack. Back off, pup. Your treading on some dangerous waters.
Black Arrow
She's smaller than you, you can intimidate her! You can handle her. Black Arrow's internal voice sounded strong, but it did little to actually boost her confidence. She simply was not experienced at fighting. In the few scuffles she had been in, she always had the backing of at least a few pack members, and the 'fight' was usually nothing more than a lot of macho posturing and a bloodless chase through the alleyways. This was different. She was by herself, and this smaller fae was not showing signs of fear or submission. "New in town? Then you need to be taught some manners. If you step foot on our turf, you better show some respect." Arrow bristled her fur and raised her hackles, trying to make herself look larger then she was. Rebel's smirk was met with bared fangs by the easily goaded wolfdog, "You better back off... stranger." For all her posturing, she failed rather miserably at the 'tough talk', and couldn't muster a good quip back at Rebel. What she did to was advance several bold steps...
Rebel
She gave a soft laugh, a dark chuckle really. She took a step towards the other female, a wicked smile playing across her lips. Careful, wolfdog. Don't bite off more then you can chew. Rebel was not intimidated by the larger female. She kept her tail down, her head low. She wasn't submissive, but she wasn't being an alpha either. Just giving the other female a little heads up. I'm not afraid of your lurkers. But I'm telling you right now. I haven't started anything. So either step up to the plate, or back off.
Black Arrow
With honor and dignity at stake, Black Arrow did not want to let the Lurker's name by sullied by her cowardice and inability to handle a stray wolf in their territory. Of course, a bit of civility on Arrow's part might have prevented a conflict in the first place, or at the very least kept the conversation from heading down the volatile road it was now. As it was, Black Arrow was not well versed in diplomacy or serious fighting, and ended up jumping the gun in order to prove herself and defend her territory, "And I'm telling you, stand back and submit to the owners of this land, or I'll show you how much bite I can handle." Instead of charging at Rebel for daring to step closer, the silver wolfdog struggled to hold her ground. She'd come to a standstill, with her auds perked and her tail flagged high, desperately trying to show that she was confident and more than a match for the stranger.
Rebel
Rebel's eyes flashed and she took another step towards Arrow. Your not alpha here, pup. So put your tail down, and walk away before you get hurt. Her voice had dropped an octave, taking on a dangerous edge. She knew Arrow was no alpha. Her entire demeanor was wrong. Rebel didn't want to kill the female, but as it were, she wouldn't mind dropping the female down a peg or two. Or three maybe. Rebel's tail had drifted up a bit. She wouldn't kill her. Not yet. Well. Maybe not ever. Rebel was a bit wary. Arrow hadn't called for backup, but the Lurker scent was everywhere. It wouldn't take much for another Lurker to go passing by and see the two having a stand off.
Black Arrow
Arrow snarled deeply and continued to hold her ground, fighting the urge to flee. Her fangs shown vividly against the backdrop of pink gums and gray fur, clean and white and without the stains of age or decay to mar them. "I may not be an alpha, but I'm a Lurker and you are a stranger. That means I'm above you." The hybrid's voice held out with no quaver to betray her hesitancy. Not that it mattered at this point; Rebel had her pegged well, and already saw through the fae's false confidence and brave disguise. When Rebel raised her own tail, that's when Arrow struck... or rather, charged forward with gnashing teeth and a threatening growl, with no intention of actually biting the stranger yet. She was trying to call Rebel's bluff with one of her own, and scare the wolfess into fleeing.
